London TTC buddies chat thread

Hi everyone

Can I join in too? I'm in the East End of London (Hackney), have been here for 9 years, although am from just outside Liverpool originally. Feel very at home in London though and generally love it (except sometimes the commute into work with the stressed out faces everywhere)

:dust:

hi guys... welcome!!

sophie, I love your avatar, I have that picture in my flat! Fingers crossed for you this week x

Can I join? I'm in Romford which is Essex but still in Greater London :)
We've been NTNP/TTC for 3 months. It's cool to have a London thread!!

Thanks bec :)

I'm fairly sure this month is a no go, as I have started spotting - which usually happens with me around a week before AF arrives. It's like getting an early disappointment, but of course it doesn't stop me from hoping that the main event won't come - so then it's a double disappointment when it does. Bah.

I've no idea whether this is going to cause problems for me TTC and have tried talking to my GP about whether spotting for so long before my period comes is an issue, but I didn't get much help from her. She just told me I was getting on a bit so should get on with it (charming!). We've decided to give it until Christmas and if no joy by then we'll pay for some tests, just to see if there is anything more we can find out and if we need to consider other options.

Ho hum. All part of the fun of this TTC stuff I suppose... Anyway, hello and welcome Missy & Leeze - it is great having a London thread, isn't it! Have a lovely Sunday all.

Thanks ladies for the welcome! it does feel nice knowing there some like-minded souls not far away going through all of this madness at the same time!

Sophiebee - are you sure the spotting isn't implantation bleeding - or do you get this every month?

My doctor was fairly unsympathetic when I went to see him recently. I'm 38 and had read it's good to get medical advice after 6 months of TTC when over 35. He said to me that since we got pregnant (I had a miscarriage in June) that we're not considered as infertile and anyway you need to have been TTC for 18 months before they will do a referral in Hackney. He also said not to worry and he had lots of first time Mums who were around 40 or 41. It's so easy to say, "not to worry" - not so easy to do though! We've decided we're going to look into getting some tests done privately if we don't get a BFP in the next cycle. From doing some initial research it looks like there's a consultant at the Royal Free hospital that is a fertility specialist and does private work. I know it could work out quite expensive but I think it would make me feel a bit better to at least get some initial tests done xx

Aww Leeze, i know how you feel , we went to see a f.s last year and she wouldnt help us as i am 43 was 42 and she said that i was too old and its never gonna happen, she totally ignored the 5 early mmc i had had by that time and i have now had 9, but apparantly a nurse at the early pregnancy unit told us that its normal for my age to have a lot of really mmc, so we are now trying soy isoflavones this cycle as a last resort, you could try those before going onto the Private ivf or iui route as its cheaper, just a thought hun xx

Hi Leeze - no, I'm fairly sure it's not implantation bleeding as it is a regular thing for me. It varies each cycle, but I usually start spotting 7 days before AF. It's been happening for the past two years, since I received some treatment for abnormal cells. Checked it out with the colposcopy nurse last time I was there and she said was nothing to worry about, but it is all rather frustrating.

I've had two clear smears since then (I wanted to wait to be sure I was clear before TTC), so I know it's nothing sinister in that respect. Just my body being crazy!

Sorry to hear about the unsympathetic docs both you and inkd have encountered. As if this whole experience isn't stressful enough... All the best to you!

Hello,

not been here in a while. Did I see someone say they were from SE4? I'm from SE8 :D

We've been going about 16 months now. Got turned down for my referal because I'm over weight :(

Grr!

Now I'm feeling even more angry with Doctors - inkdchick - turning you down at 42 is really out of order! And starrillicious - being turned down because of your weight - outrageous! I didn't know they were allowed to do that?!

So, I reckon the best plan is that we prove them all wrong and get good and pregnant in the next few months. Who's with me?

Inkdchick - have you tried Maca tablets? I've just started taking them as one of my friends recommended them? She's 37 and had a few early miscarriages when TTC number 3. She started taking Maca and got pregnant the next month to have a lovely baby boy. I'm not sure about the soy isoflavones as I've read mixed stuff about soy, I'll wait another few months and see what happens. Fingers crossed for us all xx

thank you hun , well i tried soy coz it was in tesco's and had read so much about so many women my age that had gotten pregnant on it so thought why not.
Where do i get the maca from and how is it taken ? xx

Thats the plan!

I'm feeling a bit gloomy lately... need some good news.

I've been reading about the soy stuff with interest, so do let us know how you get on inkdchick. I'm thinking of upping my B6 intake as I've heard it can help with spotting and regulating your cycle. oh well, we shall see...

I got maca capsules from this website - https://www.naturallygreen.co.uk/

apparently it's best to either get the powder or gelatinised capsules as your body can absorb it best. I've read the powder doesn't taste too good which is why I went for capsules. Also I've read quite a bit about it and had read it's best to start on a low dose eg 500mg first then increase it gradually because it can have side effects - mainly because it can have a bit of a stimulant effect and mean that it can impact on sleeping, irritation etc - and that you shouldn't drink a lot of alcohol or caffeine with it. Also that it's best to take with food and to have with breakfast and/or lunch. I've been taking it for a few days now and have increased to one tablet at breakfast and one at lunch (each 500mg). I'm not sure if it's from the maca or from generally looking after myself and getting good sleep, doing a bit of exercise but I've been feeling like I've got a bit more energy recently. It's meant to improve concentration, energy and fertility. All sounds good to me! I'll keep you posted as to how it's going. I did just read on another thread about someone else who got her BFP (in the TTC section - around people hopeful for BFP in October and had taken maca so I'm feeling quite positive and inspired today! xx

sorry to hear that starrilicious. Wish I could provide some good news to cheer you up! Maybe the good news is that you've got lots of cyber buddies who understand what you're going through right now! xx

Well the :witch: arrived today as expected, so it's back to the drawing board and CD1 again for me. Ho hum.

Have started on a higher dose of B6 to see if that makes any difference to this cycle. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see what happens. Will also be trying out softcups and pre-seed this time around - it shouldn't hurt to try anyway.

Wish me luck ladies - and fx'd for you all too :hugs:

Hi Jewls - welcome :)

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down today. It is a small comfort I know, but at least you can share your experiences here and know you aren't going through it all alone. I'm glad you found us and hope you feel better soon :hugs:

Hi Jewls and welcome

sorry to hear you're feeling down but do you think your cramps might possibly be implantation cramps or do you normally get AF cramps 4 days before you're due?

fingers crossed for you xx

Hi everyone

How's it going? It's been quiet on here for a while. I'm just passed O for this month so the last few days have been pretty hectic. All I can do now is sit back and wait as patiently as I can (which will not be very patiently, I imagine!)

Has anyone seen posters for the Fertility Show, coming to London in November. Looks quite interesting. Going to see if I can persuade my OH to come with me!

Have a nice weekend everyone and lots of baby dust x
