No proper positive yet littlestar? And I forgot you're not temping anymore
I had my doctors appointment this morning, a day faster than I thought it was going to be. I just love love love this GP, he remembered that we'd been on holiday, and where to =D So the first thing he asked was if we had a good time in Holland, and when we got back. He's brilliant. He told me that my luteinizing came back high (unlike the -all came back fine!- that they told me over the phone), indicating a strong likely hood of PCOS. Normal is below 10 on an average day, and mine was 12.5 - to confirm PCOS they'll check my testosterone levels in blood next Tuesday and do a scan of my ovaries on Monday. He's referring me to a gynaecologist anyway, but will do so after he gets back the results of the bloods and scan so he can include the information in his referral letter.
He told me that 40% of women have PCOS, but that only around 10% has trouble conceiving and there for it often goes unnoticed. He told me he's certain I'll have children with the help of medication =) Forgot which the first one once called, I think it was metformin and clomid. But he's gonna leave that up to the gynaecologist. He did explain exactly what PCOS is, and what other health risks are often attached to it - Diabetes Type 2 and Heart Problems. He's gonna get it checked and keep an eye on it, though I'm not worried about these things as I've been checked for them a million times and it's always come back fine. Got my weight, hight and BMI checked. It was slightly lower than I was expecting at 36.3 (I thought it would be 3, but that's obviously too high. I carry my weight quite well though, in a size 18 =P Either way, he did advice I try to lose some weight as it often helps TTC, which I know is true. I just find it very difficult to lose weight =( Hope that my DH will be more supportive in it this time around and will actually find some time to join me.
So yep, that's it so far. Summed up:
- PCOS likely
- Referred to the gynaecologist in about 2 weeks
- More blood tests (Lipids, Cholesterol, Glucose & Testosterone) on Tuesday
- Ultra Sound Scan of ovaries on Monday
