Long Irregular Cycles 'r' Us

Sorry your BFP turned out to be an evap Quail. Maybe you should start temping on top of the tests, that way you can see your dips for ovulation and rises for pregnancy. Just to avoid such disappointment in the future again?

yes i have started to temp this cycle though a little late [not until about cd24]but thought i could get used to doing it this cycle ready for next month.x

well ladies just been back to the doctors and she said that when my lh level is surging that my hcg level is rising slightly and thats why im getting faint pos hpt at certain times in the month.and to wait until af is late before testing and not to use the ultra sensative tests[yeah right].xx

My husband had his SA done today. I dropped it off this morning and got a call this afternoon. Everything is good (we checked the figures online) so that's a relief. I assumed our troubles are related to me since my cycles are so long, but it's good to know that only one of us has problems to worry about. I am on CD4, so now I'm waiting until CD21 for more bloodwork...
How's everyone else? Erised, can't believe your appointment is coming up! Let us know how it goes.

well ladies im sympton spotting now at only 4dpo i feel the urge to poas already i hate this wait ,hope all yo ladies are well.xx

I know, isn't is awful? I am on CD5 and I am already worrying about how long I'll have to wait to start testing. If I ovulate it probably won't be until around CD40, so I have a loooonnnnggg way to go...

BizyBee - Glad your OH's SA came back normal ... I'm sure you'll be 'fixed' soon too with the help of meds =) I'm leaving for my appointment in an hour, and I'm less and less certain I'll get anything. Don't know why!! We'll see, even if I don't get any medication right now I'll at least know that I'll come back for it one day in the next couple of months.

Just a bit of an odd question, I'm sure you ladies have had to take a urine sample to somewhere before as well. What do you use for a container? I wanted to go pick one up from the GP, but DH thinks that's just silly and insisted I just use a normal tupperware container (because he didn't want to drive to the GP, in all fairness, he -is- busy). So I'm using an onion & garlic dip container now =/ Feel a little silly, bringing in a urine sample labelled 'onion & garlic dip'. Plus I forgot I wasn't going to take my Vit B Complex yesterday, so it's super super yellow ... dear, who ever thought it was this complex to go and see a gynae? And I haven't even started the whole, do you shave, trim or go au-natural thing yet!!

quail, good luck with the 2ww ... try not to test before AF is due, especially if you already have high levels naturally anyway. Wouldn't want unneeded disappointment.

Well ladies, I'm back

We arrived a little late as just as we were leaving the phone rang. MIL called to let us know her sis had just passed away, needless to say she was very upset. Got to the hospital and there was no where to park, plus I couldn't find the gynae apartment. It really should have dawned on me that it would be in the maternity ward, shouldn't it?

The reg was lovely, unfortunately I came back home empty handed. He wants to wait until I'm at least 12 months gone, which would be in May. He did mention metformin to help me lose weight, but as I'm losing a lbs a week by myself, he'd rather see me not use it and just let my body sort itself out as to when it wants to start ovulating. He did give me the choice though, he would have given it ... but he'd just prefer me not to. So he wants to see me again on the 12th of May (16:00) to see how much weight I've lost. They'll keep track on that, and he did say that I won't have to keep losing weight until I'm at my recommended BMI. He just wants to see if some more weight loss will help me start ovulating myself ... if so, then great! If I'm not losing enough weight naturally he'll put me on Metformin in May. And if I have lost enough but still ain't ovulating he'll put me on Clomid in May.

So back to waiting! At least I've got a follow up appointment and they'll be keeping an eye on me =)
Looks like I won't be joining Lucy & Littlestar for a little while yet though

Hi ladies,
Well I have started temping this morning to see if I can narrow down what my body is up to. But think that it could be more hassle and stressful with working shifts. What ever happened to the no fuss approach of babymaking I started out with?!?
Am glad the appt went well and u have at least got something to work towards and may will be here before u know it Erised. xx

Erised, sorry to hear that your aunt passed. It's good news that you have been able to lose weight on your own and I hope you can reach your goal by your next appointment. Don't worry, I doubt I'll be leaving anytime soon! We can keep eachother company...

Hi mum2bewaiting!

There isn't really a goal to reach, he's just hoping that after whatever amount of weight I'll start ovulating again on my own. I hope so too, but just don't see it happen. I know I'm not the lightest of women, heck ... I'm well too heavy. But at a size 18 (UK) I'm certainly not a size that makes me think I wouldn't be able to conceive because of it, plenty of other ladies have. But we'll see. The goal I've set is because after I've lost those 27 pounds I'll be under 100 kilos, which will be a massive milestone for me. Though, as it's going now that will still be 19 weeks away ... blah!

Btw BizyBee, I don't mind you leaving me if it's for happy reasons! Don't worry about that =)

If it helps, my friend was in a similar situation and she conceived twins after losing some weight. Having said that, I am not convinced that weight is always the problem. It seems that it's likely hormonal. My BMI is normal and it seems like my body is just having a hard time recovering after the pill. I'm assuming you haven't had bloodwork done yet, correct? Hopefully that will be able to pinpoint the issue.

I've had tons of blood work done. It all confirms that I'm not ovulating, and that I've got PCOS. The bloods showed signs of PCOS (some sort of hormones were out of wack), and the scan actually showed a polysistic ovary. My cholesterol levels are slightly high, but only slightly and nothing to worry about and blood pressure (130/80) is fine, bloods showed I'm not ovulating. No diabetes or any of the other things they check for.

So for now the gynae thinks it's PCOS that's not helping things along, but he wants me to lose some weight (hence why he said I won't need to actually go to my recommended BMI) as it does often help women with PCOS start ovulating on their own. He's still hopeful for that. Once I've lost weight and see him, or someone else, again in 2 months and I'm still not ovulating he will concider Clomid or Metformin to help me speed things up a little. But, as at the moment I've 'only' been trying for 10 months, he won't give me Clomid yet.

Twins sound good though!! I'm actually hoping that once I do start ovulating I'll ovulate more than one egg so I'll conceive multiples
That is one of the 'risks' of Metformin that the gynae brought up, the chance of over stimulation. Which I did already know, and to be honest ... it's not something I'd want to go through! To know you've got perfect eggs there that could make you pregnant, but you're better off not using them as you might end up with say, 8 children. What a horrible choice to make.
Twins however, conceived naturally ... yes please!

Hello all im new here.

I always had long cycles actualy only about 3 AF a year and my DR was no help at all, even told me I should think myself lucky.
At 19 they finaly did tests and I had PCOS but they still wouldnt do anything about it so at 21 I came off the pill and decided to let nature take its course.
Iv been with my partner since I was 18 and am now 28 and married for nearly a year but still nothing, been technically trying for nearly 8 years but I suppose never fully till we where married last April.

Well back to my point, I took a new very active job just after the wedding and have since lost about 4 stone (wish I had done that before trying to get into the wedding dress) and im now on my 6 consecutive cycle of an average of 32 days.
Still no luck yet but fingers crossed.
None of my friends can understand why im so happy about this and what it actualy means but to go from an average 100 days to 32 has got to mean somthings working right?
I am finaly with a new Dr thats giving me the advise I need but I cant help but feel its been 8 years waisted.
Im due scans soon to see what can be done about the PCOS but I realy think losing this weight has been a good turning point.

welcome smokey ,well that all sounds really positive my cycles are currently 41 days long so 32 days does sound very good i hope you get your bfp soon, quail.xx

Erised, I did know that you had PCOS but I didn't remember that you've had bloodwork done (thought you've only had scans). Hopefully weight loss will be all you need to get things started!

Hi Smokey! Welcome. It's great that things seem to be moving along and I hope you gets things sorted out soon! Let us know how your scans go. P.S. I am also 28 and have been with my husband since we were 17...

well ladies i couldnt help but poas today at only 6dpo and got a faint second line could just be a evap though but at least it gives me something to obsess over, haha.xx

I hear you Quail! I am only on CD7 (of at least 50) and I'm already thinking about when I'll get to start testing. Hope it isn't an evap, but it seems likely this early.

Smokey, here's info on evaps from peeonastick.com: Evaporation ("evap") lines result with the test's antibody strip just looks slightly different than the space around it. There is a line of antibodies (usually made from mouse cells) in the Control and Test section. The Control line binds with any liquid and turns pink (or blue, in tests using blue dye.) The Test/Result line turns pink only if pregnancy hormone is detected. If not, the moisture passes over this strip and does not turn pink. It may, however, become more visible when the light hits the moisture on the strip-- it may appear gray, colorless, like a "dent" in the test, or like a "ghost line."

thanks for the explanation, ill have to bare that in mind if it ever happens before I start pulling the test apart and driving myself crazy :)

hi ladies... well looks like another annovulatory for me

starting to think there is something wrong with me, but i guess its still early days eh? xx
