welcome coco! xxxx

Before I had my first gynae appointment I'd already had all my bloods done and had a scan of the ovaries which confirmed PCOS.

On the first appointment we didn't really do anything, just talked. Got weighed by the assistant and they did check my urine as well, though didn't mention what for. Discussed what PCOS means and what medical options were available for me in the near future. The gynae didn't want to do anything until I had hit the 12 month mark (10 months at the time) and told me to try and lose some weight and he'd put me on metformin at 12 months. Which is what happened.

I did print out all my fertility friend cycles and information, and took that in for him to look at (and keep to put in my files). He, by looking at them, confirmed that I wasn't ovulating at all.
But it was all talk really, nothing they actually did. I was in there for about half an hour.

Welcome Coco!
This is a great group all the girls here are very supportive!

Hey guys!

Thanks for the warm welcome and sorry for late reply! Had a manic day but now can't sleep with all the excitement and thoughts of babies whizzing round in my head!!

It's all quite new at the mo you see, only really been ttc for a month but haven't long come off the pill so not even sure if my body is totally back to normal yet and can't exactly use my periods as an indicator as I always skipped periods etc in the past only to have 3 in a row at 2 weekly intervals and it seems I'm right back there again.

I ordered some opks of ebay today so hopefully they'll come in handy! xxx

Coco, I know what you mean. I'm on my second cycle after BCP, but it has been 3 mos. since I stopped taking it almost. My cycles before BC were always long/irregular too, so I have no idea what they should be without it, lol.

I was thinking about buying OPK's for next cycle but it feels so...clinical, if you know what I mean. I think after the next cycle (whenever that is) I will start using them. Buuuuut I'm kinda indecisive, so who knows.

hi everyone well cd6 for me got a loooong wait until i o, again i find this part very boring and i dont want to bd too early and get to tired when it comes to the crucial time lol hope you are all ok.xx

Drakey, we'll both be going on the 1st of July! =D Loads of news that day then, or so we hope anyway.
I'm glad your gran actually knows him to some degree and approves of him. I bet it makes you feel quite a bit better about the appointment. Hope you'll get the answers you want =)

Well, FF has caught up and put my O date on CD20 ... do you ladies agree with FF? I got a negative OPK that day, so I'm really temped to think I actually ovulated on CD18 ... I had a positive OPK that day, a lot more CM and a massive temperature dip. Which day would you go for? Either way, a high temperature today that seems to confirm ovulation.

huns i defo agree with ff thats very much an ov pattern and looks like a great chart good luck hunnie xxxx

:hi: Welcome Coco! Hope your cycles get sorted out quickly...

Hi everyone, it'll be 9 weeks on friday since my last :witch:, and before that another 10 weeks in between. I had my thyroid checked and that was ok. Should I go back to the doctor? I'm worried he'll just tell me to lose weight and thats not going to be quick. I'm not sure what to ask them?

With all these long cycles then :witch: still arrives 14ish days after OV is that right? Its just the first bit thats long I wonder if I might still OV. If its too long maybe your body just doesn't OV, sorry for so many questions!

How many months have you been off birth control for? I've heard that you should give your body the years you've been on birth control in months to get settled again. So if you've been on it for 6 years, wait 6 months before expecting a 'normal' cycle.

That said, with such long cycles I'd go back to the GP and ask to be checked for PCOS. In all honesty, if you're overweight you most likely will be told to lose weight. However, they might offer you Metformin to try and aid the weight loss. If you're in the UK, chances of them doing anything more until the reach the 12 month mark as slim.

A long cycle does not mean you'll definitely not ovulate. You can ovulate at any time in the cycle, as long as your follicle is mature enough to release an egg. There are some ladies on here who have fallen pregnant on cycle day 100+. The first part of your cycle can change and differ each month, the luteal phase (after ovulation and before AF) should be round about the same (2 weeks ish) every cycle.

Don't give up yet =) If you feel you've been trying long enough and there's definitely something wrong (10 months for me, with AF every 2 to 3 months) go see the GP again.

well ladies, i had my blood pressure check up with the nurse this morning, and all seems fine my meds have been working and my BP has dropped. the nurse also said that the tabs im on atm shouldnt affect pregnancy and that there are pregnant women who go that are on the same pills as me... so all good so far, got to have another check up in a few months... hopefully gyno may have solved my long irregular periods by then! xxxx

Thanks Erised, actually you're right about the weight loss, I was just trying to ignore it! I guess because I see lots of overweight pregnant ladies I was kind of hoping it wouldn't be too important.

Have been TTC for 7 months so got another 6 months to go if the thing about BCP years into months is true, it makes sense.

I'll go chat with the docs see what they say.

Feel better already! Thank You!!!

I know exactly what you mean about the weightloss, I've been the same myself. I still don't fully believe it even though the weight loss has made a massive difference for me. I'm a size 18/20 and I've seen ladies a lot larger than me have healthy babies without problems. What I had/have to realise is that my body is simply different.

And that said, I've lost 16 lbs so far (I jojo big time at the moment between lose weight and gain weight - I admit I'm not trying hard enough, it took me 6 months getting to 16 lbs) and my cycles have gotten much much shorter. I've gone from 90ish days to 40ish days. So, much as I don't like to admit it, weight probably does matter for me.

Glad you're feeling better about things already, and good luck with your GP appointment when you do have it! =)

Congrats on the weightloss! I agree, going to make a concerted effort!

Hi everyone - just a quick update.

:witch: was very heavy but only lasted 5 days - I was expecting maybe weeks - what with me not having one for 6 months.

Have been to drs about the ongoing diarrohea and he said that unfortunately it is a common side effect and that it's not doing me any harm and if it's bearable (which it is - only have it every so often now) then he advised to carry on with the Metformin - which I wanted to do as they are obviously helping. Weighed the other day and since I went to first hospital appointment I have lost 7lbs (in 7 weeks) which I thought was quite good - seeing as I haven't really been eating that healthy - as I've been feeling like crap I generally just ate what I fancied when I fancied it.

DH and I started the BD everyother day again - keeping our fingers crossed that me having a period means I might ovulate so watch this space.

BizyBee - congratulations on the positive OPK - I'm really happy for you - I have everything crossed that the BD works and a mini BizyBee will be on the way soon!!

Erised - not long now then til your fertility appointment - fingers crossed that it's not long til you get you BFP!

cqueenie - I can empathise re. the long cycles - aside from my last very long cycle (25 weeks) mine ranged from every 5 weeks to every 11 weeks. When I went to the dr (before I was diagnosed with PCOS) he said that anything over 6/7 weeks is classed as irregular (but bearing in mind I hadn't been on the pill for about 2 years when I went and never really had regular cycles before I went on it in the first place). You should never be worried about going to the dr's about something that concerns you - they are there to help you and the extra stress doesn't help with the babymaking!!! They may mention something about weight if you are overweight - but they never mentioned anything to me (my BMI was about 31 (now 29)) - but again it depends on the dr and how overweight you are. It is true that even a little weight loss can help stimulate ovulation etc. Mention PCOS to them and see what they say - the first dr I went to didn't even know about it - it was only when I saw my actual GP he mentioned it. Fingers crossed for you hun - I hope you get some answers. x

Love, and :dust: to everyone!!! xxx

Hi everyone, just checking in to see how everyone is, glad you're all ok. Nothing really to report here, still only on CD 9 or 10 (trying not to obsess so not sure). Going to get the grapefruit juice out and give it another go!

:hugs: & :dust: for everyone.

:hi:

I'm back with some good news for you. I got my :bfp: this morning, CD 31. (pic and details are in my journal for those interested)

Last cycle was 91 days. Normally my cycles were anywhere from 33 days, to 45 days, and last cycle was my longest at 91 days.

I just found out last month that I have PCOS so this was totally unexpected for me.

:dust: to you all!

Congrats on the BFP!!!!!!! I'm excited for you!!! Send some of that baby dust our way!

Went to the urgent care clinic wednesday for an infection in my mouth (hurts like the devil, antibiotics aren't helping) and before the doc would give me antibiotics she made me take a pg test. I had planned on testing soon anyway as I had what I thought might have been ovulation cramps earlier this month. Eh. Test was a BFN. Blehza! Still not AF tho.

Congrats WTT Mommy!

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been MIA the past few days. I am finishing out the school year and I've been very busy. I am about 7-8dpo and I plan on testing on the 26th. I can't wait!!! I hope all is well with you.

:happydance: Congratulations WTTMummy, what fab news!

Good luck for Friday BizyBee, that's my youngest's 2nd birthday, hope it brings you luck lol! :dust:
