Hey there! :) I'm hopping over from first tri to see if anyone has any great ideas for a gender reveal! My husband and I don't like finding out the gender at the 20 week scan, last time we asked the tech to put the gender in an envelope. I then dropped off that envelope at a local florist and asked them to put a few pink or blue stuffed animals in a box. A few days later, my husband filmed me opening the box and pulling out two pink stuffed animals and that's how we found out we were having a girl! It was SO fun!

I'm looking for similar and unique ideas! We like to do something just the two of us and we would love to include our almost 2 year old. Both of our families live out of town so just like last time we'd like to be able to record it and send it to them afterwards. They loved seeing our reaction the last time (I was convinced we were having a boy, so I was completely shocked, but so excited!)

My SIL and brother have 3 kids and have already done the cutting into the cake and the opening a box of balloons idea. Those are adorable ways to find out, but we'd like to do something unique. I was hoping with gender scans/reveals on the mind in 2nd tri ya'll might have some ideas for me. I'm completely stumped! TIA!

I've seen couples do it with a big black balloon overhead with the appropriate colored glitter or confetti inside and then you pop it, you could also do the silly string with the cans covered in plain brown packing paper though I have no idea where you'd get it from ;) if you had a friend help you could help, you could wear a white shirt and have the friend paint your palms the appropriate color and place either both your hands on your tummy or just yours and your hubby's unpainted hands over your hands and then when you lift your hands off, it will reveal the gender and you'll have a keepsake ;)

I've heard of having it at a restaurant and giving the envelope to the bartender and then having them make drinks of the corresponding color, you'd have to know that the bar serves pink and blue drinks though.

I saw one the other day where they did the cake cutting but the cake was white. As everyone stood there confused wondering what was going on, the husband ripped off his shirt and he had "it's a girl!" painted on his chest with bodypaint. Of course your husband or another friend would have to be in on it. You could pick someone to write it on his chest with him not looking so he doesn't know either.

Lol I think I would absolutely HATE having it at a bar!

I'm in this quandary myself... This is the LAST baby so instead just announcing will be doing a gender reveal too. The cake idea (or I would do cupcakes) is simple and easy but cute... Confetti is cute too but probably not for me.

Sooooo I'm going to follow and hopefully be inspired lol.

Love the glitter idea! I might have to steal that for next week. I want to announce on Facebook, and have them just give us an envelope, so if we take a video and post it, we are surprised too. Not sure DH will go for it. :)

We're having a gender reveal, for our family and more so our daughter. It's a surprise what's being done, so we'll see what my sister has in store for us :)

Last time we had the Gender put into an envelope and we dropped it off at a nearby bakery... then had a reveal party, cut into the cake to reveal pink filling. We had snacks and games, and all that.

This time we are skipping the hassle. And I am going to find out on August 3rd, and I will but cake mix and frosting and food coloring... Make a small SMALL cake in the color of the gender, with matching filling.. then frost the outside in PURE WHITE frosting.. We are then going to give it to our 15month old and have her destroy it, revealing the gender whilst filming it for everyone to see. We are even going to have her in a white onesie, just to have a color stained onesie for a keepsake. :D

Thanks for all the ideas ladies! :) I really like some of them, but I am wondering how to execute them. I've thought about doing the silly string idea, but I don't know how to purchase/cover the cans without knowing myself! DH doesn't like the idea of a friend or family member knowing before us to prep these things. So all of that is true of doing glitter or popping a balloon with confetti in it. How to prep these things without us knowing? That's why the stuffed animal thing worked last time, I was able to just pay someone to do it for us.

I'd also love to involved our daughter, which is why the silly string idea would be fun. We don't mind a stranger knowing (like a store employee) but DH can't get on board with a friend knowing first, so I don't know how to get the cans covered!

Do you have a party supply store near you? They might sell it or if you're not too bashful you could buy it from Amazon or another online store and ask your ob/nurse/midwife to wrap the paper around it or even a neighbor or something like that?

If you buy it from the party store, you could ask the cashier to do it ;)
