Here you go, the snow ones aren't fab but I didn't have time to check settings before I left. Have 7 inches here and will go up again tomorrow and see how improved I can get.

I'm so glad you started this thread. Just made my day. LOL!
I've been looking at the 50mm f/1.4 lens, and it's like 3x more expensive than the 1.8 but from what I've seen online the pics come out a bit more sharper and the color payoff comes off better.

My only problem is SHARPNESS. For some reason, I can't get the pictures as sharp as I want. Like Bananaz. Is it just cause she has a better camera than me? Haha. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Hmm, your shots look pretty sharp to me? But I can offer a few suggestions...

1. Get out your camera's manual (or just find it online) and take a look at the autofocus modes. I usually shoot in "One Shot" mode, where you lock the focus by holding the button half-down and then compose the shot, but there are a lot of ways to do it. You just have to figure out what works best for you.

2. Don't go too wide with the aperture. If I remember correctly, the 50mm f/1.8 tends to get kind of fuzzy at 2.0 or wider so I would try to stick with 2.2 unless you really need the extra light.

3. Post-processing is your friend! There are a lot of ways to make pictures seem sharper and "pop" in Photoshop.

I hope you don't mind that I edited this but I thought it might helpful to have a before/after on one of your own pics (and if you do mind, just let me know and I'll take it down)

Jw but how did you get the back ground so smooth in this photo?

Kitty - Gorgeous shots! Especially those last few of Amelia. Her eyes really "pop" in those. Was she seriously asleep in the sledge? I can't even imagine!

ann - I mainly used the technique in this tutorial:

Yeah, she really was. Fast asleep til Fin scooped up some snow and kindly shared t with her... Face :dohh:

You can see it better in this wee sequence

Kitty your children are too cute! Fin looks so happy in the snow :)

We haven't got a great deal and its mainly ice here :(

Hey ladies,

I have a quick question and I thought this would be the best place to ask! I have no idea what any of this means, but I'm looking at getting a new phone, and the specs for the camera are:
5-Megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash with a f/2.8 aperture and 35mm lens.

I just really want to know if this is half decent for a phone camera? It's only for out and about if I don't have our normal camera with us anyway, but just want one that'll be relatively decent.

Thankyou :flow:

I took this picture yesterday, I think it's my best so far (excuse his face, he's having an eczema flare-up atm :()

*Sorry for the pic overload*

Emma - I don't really know what the standard is for phone cameras these days but that sounds pretty good to me!

Carly - Cute shots! I think the first one is my favorite - great depth of field.

Jade - Aww, what a cutie pie. I love the one where they're looking at each other.

theraphosidae - Beautiful eyes. That boy has got some serious eyelashes!

Here are a few shots from earlier today. Not horribly exciting but I like them anyway ;)

And then I can't decide whether I like this one in color or black & white. Thoughts?

bananaz she has such beautiful eyes..I personally like that last one in colour

Bananaz. I wanna eat her. Is she crawling now?! Such beautiful pictures, i like the last in colour too!

And theraphosidae, i agree, he has lovely eyes and eyelashes!

Carly, your children are gorgeous! And your dog!

All looking great ladies!

Megan, I like the last one in color. But thats probably because I'm not a huge fan of b&w anyway. Hah

Beautiful photos everyone!!! I'm getting a new lens for my camera for Valentines Day :) I want one that will let me set it in a lower aperture setting, so I can get better depth of field photos.

Hello, hope you ladies dont mind me joining. I've been stalking these forums since my 1st trimester but hardly ever posted, im a bit shy. Anyway my baby is now 6 months, she's called Liara and i have a Nikon D5100, only had it for about 3 months. I've had s Canon SLR years ago and can actually use the darkroom and develop/print B/W photos, a very "useful" skill i picked up at school haha. But this DSLR business is a bit new to me. I will post some pictures of my little model once i work out how to!

Here is me hoping this works..
