Elijah and I are here :)

Hope everyone is well.

We are good here. Elijah is still very slow to gain weight which is causing some worry but our health visitor and Dr are very supportive of us continuing to breastfeed with 3 three ounce breast milk top ups a day and weekly weigh ins.
Isaac is adjusting to being a big brother and im adjusting to being a mum of two. Some days I find it hard to achieve anything and getting out the house requires a whole lot more organisation now, but I'm loving it overall.

DH has been to see the dr and had a referall for a vasectomy. I'm kind of sad, although recognise that's hormonal driven. We know we are done with two children but the vasectomy is obviously final. Up to now we have not dtd anyway, combination if tiredness and no desire, plus we don't want to chance it as I'm not on contraception.

We have started tentatively to get Elijah in a routine and last three nights he has gone to bed at 7 pm slept till 1 am then fed and slept till 5 then fed and slept till 8.30am. It's nice to have an evening back though I often go bed by 9.

Xxxx

I am here as well :)

Daisy wow you are brave :) I need to wait until my checkup before we DTD. Mind you, it's been 4 months so I doubt I can even remember how it goes.., :dohh: Since DH will most likely be switching jobs we will not be trying for n.2 for now - back in o the pill it is.

NDH and Allforthegirl I hope you both recover quickly.

Mark and I are slowly getting inti a rhythm of things. Since week 3 we are combining bf and supplement and his weight gain is great, plus he's grown sp much already. He's a bit of a roughneck :haha: holding his head up all the time and trying to crawl - full blown muscle man :) He is having quite a lot of digestion problems though so hopefully things pick up on that front.

Looking forward to continuing our journey with all of you :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Hey ladies! Glad I found the momma group!

We have been BUSY! Grace is growing like a weed, we have her 2 months shots next week and I am not looking forward to them as I have to take her on base and I don't like that they want me to physically restrain her, and I'm not allowed to nurse while she gets the shots....which seems like it wouldn't be that big of a deal as her legs would still be exposed, I may be switching her care and taking her somewhere out in town and just paying out of pocket because I just don't like the idea of restraining an infant...

She's been sleeping really well recently, we transitioned to her crib [and I moved her nursery upstairs by myself 2 weeks ago!] so she's closer and doing well. She slept for 8 hours last night! I was amazed when I woke up at 4am and she was just starting to wake up.

Still having production issues but we have an amazing milk donor who sends us between 150-200oz every two weeks...its such an amazing gift for us, so I only rarely have to supplement with formula now, it's not the same as being able to EBF, but it's close.

Other than that, we've just been hanging out and cuddling and going on a few adventures. I'm so ready for this summer. We are taking Grace camping with friends and to the beach, and the pool, we've already bought a sun hat, I just have to find a swimsuit for her [has anyone else noticed that all of the baby swimsuit bottoms are too small to fit a diaper underneath?]

I need to start walking again, hopefully this weather breaks soon! We have like 16 days of rain and Grace and I were both starting to get a little stir crazy! I need to put her stroller to use soon! Summer is coming I am excited for everything we have planned!

How's everyone else doing?

Stuck that doesn't sound right to me either, restraining a baby or child. (For a older baby you do have to just hold baby in a certain way so they can do the vaccination without them squirming away.) I would have a problem with that too. Also would bug me not to be able to nurse baby after. What a strange place.

That is a lot of rain and I would go stir crazy too.....

Sounds like everyone is adjusting to having a new baby well.

I am doing better. Though I was thinking my energy was up to par and didn't have a nap due to a busy afternoon and I noticed by 8pm that I was completely drained. Declan spoiled me and only woke once to nurse through the night.

Declan is doing well. He is close to 13 lbs now (I really need an actual weight on him that is just a bathroom scale measurement), he is getting stronger everyday as his head control has made a huge improvement over the last few days, he coos like crazy, and loves to smile.

I too want to get out and do more waking but the stroller being a double is quiet heavy and I have to wait a bit longer to lift it. I have lost pretty much all my pg weight now I have to work on getting to a more healthier weight just for myself. Just have to wait until abdominal wall is healed more before I do more strenuous stuff.

Hi all great turn out

Dawn glad you are adjusting to being a mum of two. It's good to hear LO is gaining well also. :hugs2: sorry you are )even if it is hormones) upset about the vasectomy!

keepinitreal, glad Mark is gaining weight. He is so cute in that picture!! Z is the same, standing and holding his head up like a big boy

Stuck, I do not like the idea of restraining a child either. During both his heel pokes I was able to nurse Z through them. Would not imagine it any other way. So happy you have a donor sending you milk! That's truly amazing of her and good for you for seeking that out.

allforthegirl Declan is so sweet. Love those smiles and coos, they really like to engage in conversation with mommy!! Hope you are healing well from surgery Xx

AFM it's been a battle of catnaps and wet diapers and gas the past few days. I think a wonder week is coming up (Z is 12 weeks on Friday) so that might explain it. Lots of drool and hand chewing so possibly teeth as well? His weight gain has been consistent from weeks 2-8. He has not been weighed since 7.5 so naturally I'm worried :fool:
Despite him being happy between meals, sufficient wet/dirty diapers, and outgrowing clothes. He really does feel heavier in my arms then one day I trick myself into thinking he is lighter. He does not have another appointment until the end of June. There is a WIC appt tomorrow that I'm debating whether or not going to.

I have been debating starting to pump. I've a really nice double medela pump from WIC. I just like the idea of giving him fresh milk from the breast (con to pumping) but there are some times that I want to have more than a drink and a half for the night or eat a little bit more cannabutter (pro to pumpimg). OR to even just get away for 2 hrs and leave OH with the baby (pro to pumping) but I feel like Z eats so often I'm essentially taking his next meal by doing so (con to pumping)

Maybe I will wait until he is more regular with his eating

I hope you lovely mamas are doing great

Breastfeeding info

LLL article

In that info (and on FB was an post about it) is where it clearly mentions that a glass or two of alcohol is safe while breastfeeding.

Does that mean per hour or per night? Because I never have more than two drinks, I just want to get to a point where I can get happily drunk

From what I understand the amount is so minute, but the more you drink obviously more will be there. So you just need to gage how you feel. Once you feel tipsy that is when the alcohol starts slowly showing up in your milk. Also as soon as you stop feeling it it is no longer in your milk. So use your digression.

The alcohol thing :D

If you're sober enough to drive, you're sober enough to breastfeed...if you get rip-roaring, white-girl wasted, you should probably pump and dump....and definitely not drive!

I'm currently enjoying my second glass of wine, but that's all I'll have because I'm now a lightweight all of a sudden. Ha ha ha

I too am a light weight. Though u haven't had a drink yet since my gallbladder removal. I'm nervous. I would like to make sure that my liver is all healed.

Lol white girl wasted. My tolerance has always been low usually I sleep before I even finish the second drink :haha:

allforthegirl good idea. I hope things are ok with that otherwise?

Pumping and dumping actually doesn't do anything other than help engorgement or help keep your supply up. Alcohol leaves your breastmilk the same way it does your blood.

Alcohol enters your milk the same rate it enters your bloodstream, so pretty much right away. But keep in mind the amount is so miniscule that even an hour after a couple drinks (when alcohol content peaks) there is still less alcohol in your milk than there is in gripe water.
If you're legal to drive its safe to drink, even then there is likely more risk to dropping and injuring your child if you're drunk than from the alcohol in your milk. That said I don't drink at all (but not because I'm breastfeeding)

Yeah, for those of us with breast supply issues, pumping (and dumping) is pretty important if I plan on drinking more than a glass or two of wine.

Yup the pump and dump thing is the same for pain meds, and general anaesthetic. No need to do that unless you need to not miss a feed or starting to get engorged.

I like the way NDH described the amount that baby gets.....gripe water..... perfect example.

Sorry, that came off snotty and it wasn't supposed to. Lol

That's what I get for typing before I was awake.

Ah I doubt I will ever graduate to more than 2 glasses of cabernet regardless of my BF status  on another note I've started getting a freezer stash together so OH can feed him on days that I don't want to adult

Wonder week 12 is in fuuull swing here. Very clingy baby but not as hungry as usual. Sleeps for crap again ?! I also wonder about teeth and I believe the 3 mo growth spurt is settling in too.

Luckily I know he is ok: he is sitting next to me on the Boppy smiling but cooing for my attention :haha:
