March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Congratulations Kymied! Elliot is a fantastic name.

A quick update from me, I'll catch up with everyone later as I'm getting the older two ready for school. I hope everyone had a great night. I had a rough night, I knew the good nights were too good to last. Jessica is really struggling with her cold and it caused her to bring up part of her feed in her moses basket. So I ended up with a very wet, sticky and very wide wake baby at 3am. Also I've now got the cold. UGH!

Congrats kymied x x
Yeah danielle had her little boy Charlie
Well after hge afternoon and evening of constant feeding she eventuallu wen down in moses basket at 11pm....fully expecting a rough night me and hubby turned in.same tim. She woke up once between then and 7am!!!!! Changed fed and back down in 20 minutes. Bet it wont last ha ha...she'll be a right little minx showing mummy up when nsnna and grandpa are down this weekend doh....or maybe not...

My little angel....for today anyway

Morning all x x x

Morning!!! New day, new start! Where have I heard that before?!?

My challenge today will be getting to lunchtime without crying!

We had another night with only one wake up at 3.30 but she cluster fed 5 times in 7 minute sessions until 4.45 which was tiring and really hurt my boobs. She slept until 7 though so I guess I should be grateful!

We pick up the new car later on which Al is excited about (I couldn't care less at the moment!) and I'm determind to get a nap and a walk in today. Yes I am!

Sounds like a pretty good.night loo.....but i agree that the cluster feeding continually does start to hurt the boobs :-( anyone elses get really itchy???

Todays challenge....again....is to sort out my ticker and download mia photos onto.laptop so i can get some up on here

Enjoy your walk today!!! We are off to register Mia today :happydance:

I'm not sure if I forgot to say that we registered Dharma yesterday. She is all official and it's now in black and white that Al and I are parents. Scary stuff.

I meant to leave a quick review for Asda's own little angels nappies. They are sh!t. Whilst Dharma is still in micro size I can only buy them in 24 packs so thought I would try them but they only have single elasticated bits round each leg which isn't as good as the pampers seal, so unless we catch a dirty nappy immediately it's all change on the clothes front. Not good.

Loo...saw that you bought micro nappies for Dharma....we are doing ok with first size pampers even though Mia is smaller. Suppose it depends on babys shape too....we just make sure we fold down below umblical stump and pull tapes way over. Only had 2 clothing leaks but they were BIG explosions:haha:
And we are getting through them for sure!!!!!!

Dharma managed 3 nappies in 5 minutes the other day. She peed all over one before I'd even snapped it on!!

You're right about baby shape. Dharma is long and skinny. I tried her in a size one yesterday but her legs are leaving massive poo leaking gaps around the edges. Thought they would be ok, but obviously not. Micro are a perfect fit for her skinny butt!! Has Mia still got her stump then? Dharmas fell off on Saturday morning, and then I found my mums dog eating it later after pinching it off a chest of drawers

Loo, I love looking at my girl's birth certificates. recently we re-registered out middle daughter Amy as she was born before I married my husband. So now we're waiting for her official certificates to come through the post. They should be here in time for her 6th birthday on Thursday.

Even though I am not breast feeding my boobs are terribly itchy. I am trying to ignore them and scratching them only stimulates them into making more milk.

Someone mentioned on another forum that I should try bathing Jessica's gunky eye with breast milk. Since my boobs go bananas when I bottle feed Jessica, i popped a little pot in my bra and collected what leaked out. Just enough to dip cotton wool in and wipe her eye. This morning it's 100 times better and no longer sticking shut.

I have the health visitor coming today. She sounds nice on the phone. My first health visitor was a right dragon and put me off them for life.

I hope eberyone has a fab day and you get to enjoy some of this fabulous sunshine.

Enjoy your walk Loo x

I agree about the variability of nappies and lot of it is baby dependent. Edith is fine in size 1 pampers and I really rate Sainsbury's Little Ones also in size one. However, the size one Huggies look like you could collect elephant dung in them in comparison to have little, and skinny, Edith is.

I'm sorry, I had to laugh about the dog eating the stump....it just totally reminded me of an episode of Sex and the City when Miranda's cat, Fattie, eats her baby's detached stump and the horror on hers and the maids faces.

After the depressing marathon that was yesterday and the night before, Edith slept from 10:30 to 2:30, fed and changed for a quiet hour and then went from 3:30 to 6:45. Fed again, grabbed a cup of tea and snuck another hour in. Who knows what she'll be like today.

Sad as MrC left us both sleeping when he went to work at 6:30am so I never got a morning kiss, or a bit of adult interaction. Sort of made up by Edith, feeding laid on me, ferreting, fiddling and twisting about my nightshirt with her hand that hangs down my side. It's so sweet, she sort of does it for comfort.

MsCrow, I love Sainsbury's own brand and used them throughout with Amy. As she got bigger I found them less leaky than Pampers. Huggies she would pee straight through the bottom of them.

No one seems to have anything good to say about Huggies! I'm on pampers at te moment as that's what they used in hospital so I knew they fitted, my friend gave me a box of 100 Huggies though as they didn't work for her so I might try one later.
Going to try having a shower this morning but then have asked my mum to wash my hair over the bath, scared of shampoo running over my stitches!!

Top nappy tips lads. Will have a look at the sainsburys micro ones, though I am really hoping that this cluster feeding is aiding a growth spurt that should fill her out a bit.

We are on the 4th feed already today. MsC, Edith has obviously passed the '25 minutes between feeds' baton to Dharma because she is really going for it today!

Loo...that was like me and Mia yesterday afternoon....mornings seem to be a quieter more relaxed affair. Hoping she hasnt falken out with me after i spurted breast milk in.her face this morning:haha:. Its her own fault...guessing that was the result of her marathon feeding seesion last night then not alot over night...the y were hard as rock.this morning !!!! Even then when i finally managed to get manual pump sterilised and tried pumpibg the boobs dont really like yet. Its a manual pump....think i.will get one rented from sure start later this week....really need to express just to get her off boob when hubbyby can feed her x

Lozza, did you have a section? If so shampoo running over your stitches is nothing to be afraid of. It can even be benefical as you have to keep the area clean.

I've had three sections and at no time have I found bathing to be painful where my scar is concerned. If you're talking about lady garden stitches, then I take it all back, I have no experience of those.

The Health Visitor has been she was really nice and understood that Jessica being my third, I probably knew what I was doing. Goodness the amount of paperwork they fill out now. She had to write down the ins and outs of our family life, including how long myself and DH had been together and how long we've lived in our current house. I have no idea what for.

Jessica passed her hearing test with flying colours and now weighs 7lbs 13oz up from 7lbs 2oz just over a week ago and up from her birth weight of 6lbs 15oz. So the name Piglet suits her quite well.

C3po.....great news about weight gain :happydance:

I havent been informed about health visitors visits....anyone else?

So mw just 'dropped in' for a bp check....again high ( supposedly) but again not worried as i feel fine. Really happy with Mia and can let her go as long as she wants between feeds now:happydance:...not really a bonus durinng the day but night time yeah:thumbup:. Watch her now wake up on the hour, every hour tonight :haha:

So lets talk baby clothes ladies......Mia was 6lb 1oz at weigh in on saturday. So some newborn stuff too big so went out yesterday and got early baby from tesco...up to 7.5lbs...thought perfect. However when washed they are too small...seems Mia is long but thin...so that was a waste. Poor girl is between sizes:nope: . Anyone else having issues??? Could do with shrinking some 9lb outfits. They vary sooo much between stores

I think we are experiencing a growth spurt here!! Bubs has been cluster feeding for the last 5 hours or so. Then he cries with wind and occasionally throws up. Fingers crossed I think his finally bombed out..

Seethree- we call our little one piglet too!!! :)

We call Mia.....Monkey Mia as with so much hair at birth she did resemble:haha:...but in a cute way....her face has really filled out now. I seem to refer to her as 'Me Me' a lot

Wouldluv...mw thinks Mia may be on an early growth spurt...cluster feeding last night....well afternoon/evening

Mitch, Jessica is now firmly inbetween sizes. Very frustrating. Too long for tiny baby, but too short for newborn. So her arms and legs go missing sometimes. I have been rolling arms up and using socks over the feet of baby gros.

You should also be under the care of your midwife for around 10 days - 2 weeks, she will then (if happy with you and baby) discharage you into the care of a Health Visitor. I don't know if it varies from clinic to clinic
