March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Awesome growth there C3P0 - incredible little piglet you've got there!!!!

Nappy woes - we're in huggies pure and they're suiting us well - we had loads of leaky ones to start with the realised that Noah's todger had to be pointing downwards or he'd be weeing all over himself :dohh: (yes, this was another baby manual let-down...!) and since then they've suited us fine...but he's 9lb 5 now so maybe they suit fatties??!

Mitch - I have to say I'm a little jealous of your night time success with Mia. We had a much better night last night but that was still feeds at 9pm, 1am, 4am, 6am, 9am!!! And yes, I was in bed from 9-9!!!

I had a really emotionally challenging day yesterday. Was so tired after being vom'd on all night and had in-laws over for dinner (and no offer from them to cook....grrr) and fell apart at 9pm with dummy issues - it was just confusing us and sadly Noah was taking it rather than a feed so back to the drawing board - now waking him up once he comes off and is burped and amazingly (!) he feeds again really well then sleeps for 3 hours. Sometimes the simple things take some working out don't they. So, still more than happy to use a dummy - just want to make sure he's only using it for comfort and not as an alternative to boob time. Thought this whole thing was all meant to be all-natural and instinct! Ha! Cows are soooo much better than me at this whole milking malarkey!!!!!! :haha:

Too you lads with rock hard boobs...either from engorgement or milk coming in - the best tip i've had from BF counsellor was to walk your 1st and 2nd fingers round the hard parts whilst your BFing and LO is actively sucking - it massages the blocked ducts and helps prevent and mastitis starting and I find it properly helps empty them...also meant to empty the hindmilk and so fill them up with the satisfying stuff. I still do it now but have to be a bit more careful in case I spray milk across the room. :haha:

So, Loo...I agree with you...today is going to be a better day... I'm sat out in the garden writing this with the parasol up, sunnies on and book in hand (oh and Noah asleep in his pram next to me...!)

 all round lads!! we're doing amazingly well!!! can't wait for the rest of the march mummies to join us here..thinking of them all a lot...xxx

Mitch...we are exactly the same with baby gros. She needs the tiny baby size, but is too long so we use the vests as they are a really good fit, but cut the feet off and sewed them up. She can either wear them with socks or just look cute and borrower like in the bigger newborn grows. Tbh it's been too warm here for anything other than a vest in the house and we just been using a grow when we go out and at night. xx

Waula...great tip about massaging the breast whilst feeding. I subconciously did something similar whilst feeding this morning....just started pushing sections of the breast tissue to alleviate the itchy and tightness but i will definately do that next feed :flower:

Think i will cut some feet out cos apart from length they fit perfectly. Glad i didnt bother with pram suit in the end...it would be too big and too warm. Even the cardie we bought is too warm when out and about...blanket easier x

Loo I love the idea of Dharma in babygro's with cut off feet!!! We may need a picture of this!!!! :cloud9: Newborn sizes are all over the place aren't they...quite frustrating...we're in John lewis newborn, Next 0-3m and M&S under 1 month - is there not meant to be a standard???!

I've been having to use the pram suit we have as it's still very chilly in the mornings when I take Amy to school. Still, it's getting snug and I'm wondering if it's really worth getting a bigger size.

Its baking here a pram suit would cook Freyja!!

Clothes wise. Just put away the smaller newborn stuff and got out all the 0-3 stuff. She is fine in mothercare 0-3 m+s up to 3 months still a touch big, but not much. Ans she's currently wearing h+m 2-4 months. You'll soon work out which shops do the big stuff and whch come up small. I'd do a list but I forget which is which at the moment. Asda stuff comes up big though! Its not standard in any way!! Freyja is so long though, 0-3 aren't going to fit when we go to reusables!

Keep trying the cloth nappies on her, but she needs to chunk out on her thighs a little bit before they fit properly. I'm no help on nappies, the only disposables I've used are the Naty ones, oe beaming babies (both biodegradable eco nappies)

Nickname wise, Roh was always Booboo, orignally after Boo from Monsters inc. Freyja has become Fayraah as that's how Roh says her name, which is cute :)

Went to playgroup this morning, had a lovely time makng easter cards and all 3 of us got covered in paint! :haha: OH stayed home and did some messy DIY. Had lunch out with some of the other mums from playgroup. Now enjoying a hot cross bun in the sun on the sofa and watching the news. Very civilised :).
Got 7 hours sleep last night, I obviously fed Freyja at some point, because when I woke in the morning, my breastpad had moved and I was totally soaked with milk! :dohh: loving the co-sleeping, I'm feeling like ii barely get disturbed in the night at all! Maybe I should change her nappy in the night, but she doesn't seem to mind much and its not leaking...

Emera, I only change in the night if there has been a poo done, otherwise I leave it. I just make sure I put a good amount of nappy cream on when I do her last nappy before bed.

I have to change A's diaper at night just to wake her up for feeds. She's got a touch of jaundice, so needs to feed frequently, and she just wants to sleep all night. I think the jaundice is improving though - she looks better today.

Hoping to take her out on her first real outing this evening to book club. She hasn't really left the house yet, except for a walk, so I'm excited.

As far as clothing goes, most newborn stuff is too big for her, but it's next to impossible to find anything smaller than newborn size. I did discover that some newborn things look big at first, but shrink to a better size once washed, which helps. She always manages to puke or explode-poo all over my favorite sleepers/babygros though, which is sad. I want her to look like a little girl, but she ruins the cute pink things, and always ends up back in yellow or white! I agree though - there ought to be a sizing standard, as you're not likely to get baby to try things on before purchasing like you would your own clothes!

First bath happening this afternoon. A's stump fell off at 4 days old (seems really early to me, but we didn't touch it and just found it detached one day....)

Crowned, Jessica's stump fell off very quickly. I was surprised too. It was a little weepy to begin with but a couple of days of bathing it and keeping it dry and clean and it healed up really well.

I was told putting baby by a sunny window helps with jaundice too.

Good morning, lads!

Mitch, we had a fabulous night here too! They slept from 8 to 2:30!!! They woke up for a quick feed and went right back to sleep until 6:00!

As for names... we tend to call both of them "the other one" or "brother" depending on context. And occasionally, they'll be called "little devil".

Right, clothes sizes from various shops, here you go lads!

Next - medium
Tesco - small and slim
Asda - big
Matalan - big
Sainsburys - quite big
M&S - big
Mamas and Papas - small and slim
John Lewis - big
Miniclub (Boots) - small and slim
Primarni - Small, although newborn is medium
Baby Gap - small/medium

The big/small/medium thing is the size in relation to the age group on the label, so m+p 0-3 stuff is good for a small and slim 0-3 month old, if that makes sense

Waula that booby tip is ace, i remember you saying about it a while ago. I've been doing it and it helps loads. So TA!

I rang the BF support line yesterday and had a melt down about the shields. She was lovely though, told me to go up to bed that minute and to have some skin to skin and see if Ted would latch himself on. He didn't and my boobs both leaked EVERYWHERE but i put a pad over one, sat up a bit and he actually did latch on for a bit! Not the whole feed, but it felt so amazing that it actually might happen one day. I just wnat to feed him with me, not with some dumb bit of plastic between us.

See3 - we had health visitor today, she refused to do that form with us as she thinks its too invasive so she left it for me to fill in. Ted is now 10lbs 3oz! (from 9lbs 8oz on friday). What a little chubber.

Loo: We were talking about if we should save the cord clamp or not. Then hubby says we can save the cord stump with it. And show it to girls when he's a teenager. Then we decided it was much more likely that Tori (our dog) would eat it. So we threw out the clamp and decided the stump would go too.

I'm bad at putting diapers on. They seem to leak every time. Hubby did all the diapers in the hospital so he's gotten pretty good, but not me. The hospital gave us Pampers with the wet indicator line, They are fantastic. Except when he's pointed in a different direction you don't look in the same spot.

Last night I was up with a cranky baby until I realized he'd peed all up his back. After a quick change he slept from 3am-6:30! Then he drained a boob, had a pee and passed back out. I'm now waiting for him to wake up because the other boob is huge and starting to get painful. But he's so cute sleeping in his crib!

Kymied, he's so cute!

Emera, want to do one of those lists for North American brands? :D

As I said on the other thread, woke up to find that my own sister had started the FB due date mayhem. :dohh: It really upset me! It seems so rude to put so many expectations on a little baby who will come when she damn well pleases!

Is anyone here back in pre pregnancy clothes specifically jeans??! If so...i will have to hate you forever....belly is slowly going down but jelly like and i think i put more weight on around my butt than i thought aaaarrgh

On a positive note....Mia is now officially registered :happydance:

Mitch I'm in my pre-pregnancy clothes, but no need to hate me as I only own 1 pair of jeans and haven't worn them for maybe 2 1/2 years! My wardrobe consisted of leggings oversized jumpers, a few casual dresses and tunics and some black lycra trousers with elasticated waists! So hardly an acheivement :haha: nice to have a bit more wardrobe choice though! Need to lose 2lb to get back to pre-pregnancy weight, then the hard work starts, to shift the weight from last time!

I'm not in my pre-preg jeans yet either. My mat jeans are getting loose, but pre-preg are still too tight. I really need to buy a set of scales as I have no idea where I'm at weight-wise right now, and would love to know. It's hard to find clothes to wear in the morning- tops are all too tight around the boobs (gone up a LOT of cup sizes - they're like bowling balls now), and jeans are too tight/awkward around the deflated middle. I hate figuring out what to wear now.
