March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Sambles....poop for no.cheesecake...what are Sainsburys thinking???!!

Loo...now you.are just being very cruel ;-)

Wt.....OMG...how weird...just sat M in the swing and switched on a baby channel and ther e was Clifford the Big Red Dog..had never heard of it ha ha. Need to find Waybuloo and get it on Sky plus for M.....my mates girl who is a few weeks older loves it

Emera....oh dear for Roh....sure its just a phase x x

Right off to.get my facial and ingredients for muffins.....much.better than poopy cheescake:haha:

edit.....vitfa....woop for a great night!!! And wt for 1/2 a good night...rubbish for early morning x

Mitch Waybaloo is on cbeebies early in the day 7am or before. Roh used to love it! Try In the night Garden too, F loves it and Roh still does too, ideal :)

WT- 4.50am?! :nope:

Vitfa yay for a good night!!

Loo cheesecaker brunch sounds very acceptable! :haha:

Don't really believe in terrible 2's as such. I see it as individual problems that need solving. Toddlers don't act up for no reason, its just a case of working out the reason and either helping them deal with it or changing what's happening. I guess I can usually work out what's causing the problem, but now I'm not sure what it is. Hoping its the illness and tiredness, so it should pass. I won't deny its a challenging age though!

Vitfa - hooray!!!!!

Mitch, off to Portugal just outside Lagos- 30degrees plus is the forecast, hooray!

I'd kinda hoped the cheesecake talk would have finished by now

In the night Garden freaks me out a little, the first time we watched it 3 of the little things took there trousers off and started rolling around together, now I'm sure this is fine for innocent little minds but it worried me!
We like everythings Rosie! If i song the theme tune to O she has a huge giggling fit.

I wanted to do something familish today but OH didn't get up till 10 and then announced he was going to get his hair cut and still isn't back

i was gonna put more but O has just filled her nappy, she never poo's in it normally! hope she'sok

OMG it went everywhere. First real poo in a nappy and it did not stay in the nappy. She was doing it as i typed the last post and i changed her straight away and yet it still escaped!?

Half way through cleaning her up though i look at her and she sucking her big toe! Deffinitly got her off the hook!

In the night garden is a bit freaky....i.think.i.watched.it with my nephew once....he was entranced...hasnt it got some character who.goes around collecting.and cleaning stones....hmmmmm

Facial was amazing.....

lozza have a fab holiday

Off to.feed.baby M x

Yeah, in the night garden is completely nuts, but its also been put together by a load of child psychologists and kids flipping love it! Plus its vaguely educational. We watch it every night after bathtime whilst drying off and having milk, and Roh has always really calmed down watching it. :)
I think about the stuff that was on when I was a kid, it was all bizarre, Bagpuss, Pidgeon street, Mr. Ben, Trumpton, it was all a bit bonkers, never did me any harm!

(Yes though Makka Pakka who washes stones, and people, is a bit odd and OCD! :haha:)

i havent watched any kids tv so i have no idea what you are talking about but i will learn soon no doubt

bad nights sleep again, feeding at 3.30 and then 4.30 is not fun especially when i couldnt get back to sleep

major shop just done for food for the christening; now busy making quiches, cupcakes, curried eggs, homemade dips, sausages on sticks etc to minimise the work to be done tomorrow morning

having a quick break to feed R

Oh dear, poor little F seems to have a bit of this bug, I was hoping that obsessive cleanliness and the bf would protect her, but seems not. Horrible green poo every 30 mins at the moment. Poor girlie. At least its easy enough to deal with whilst bf.

Also trying to stay cheerful but its the anniversary of my brother's death today. Can't help but think about it really. Got the kids keeping me busy for now, then got some hair dye for later to cheer me up and plan to bake something tasty!

:hugs: Emera, hope you are able to remember all the good times with your brother and get through the day all right. And BAH for F getting the bug! Poor little lady!

Kymied, have you ever heard of those Thunder Vests or whatever they're called? They put a light pressure on the dog during a storm and they're supposed to be very calming. Sorry about the door and knob, though.

Cuppie, holy cow, that's more food than I've cooked in my entire life, all put together. Please tell me more about sausages on sticks. As I can't eat cheesecake, bacon is my food porn of choice... but sausage is a close second.

Vitfa, hurray for your long stretches of sleep!

So you lads are letting your LOs watch TV? G always seems to be trying to get a glance at it. Sometimes when I'm holding her, she'll be craning her neck to catch a glimpse of it! Naughty little monkey.

DH has been gone a whole day and we're doing fine! G is asleep and I just ate breakfast. Now I think I'll try to sneak in a shower.

She was really fussy and didn't want to settle last night... couldn't tell if she was gassy or hungry. Definitely was having a hard time working out something. She lifts her legs up and slams them both into the mattress when she's trying to poo. Wham! Wham! Wham! Poor baby. :haha:

Mouse - I'm trying not to let Z watch tv. He tries yo stare at it if it's on and gets completely transfixed. The way it seems to totally absorb him makes me think it's probably not a good thing. He's been watching a bit of baby einstein with DH some mornings though when I've been asleep. Apparently it's educational.... But I've not watched it so can't comment.

Im sure he'll watch a bit when he's older but my nephew had his own tv in his room at 4 and I've seen how they behave in front of the tv (zone out with open mouths) do its really put me off. They use it to go to sleep to, it's not good.

Back to packing, no idea if I've packed the right stuff!

I'm not actively letting F watch TV, but Roh does have his certain programmes he watches, and I guess that will add up to about 45 mins-1h 20 mins a day, depending. If its raining and we can't go out then we'll watch a movie (usually something studio ghibli or pixar) Its only the one show that F seems to pay any attention to, and usually for a minute or two. To be honest the fact that the tv sucks Roh in is a lifesaver, I'd never get anything done otherwise!! Plus, mostly what he watches has an educational basis, he's learnt most his shapes and colours from the tv! No way is he getting one in his room though, I don't have one in my room, hate the tv in bed thing. OH's pc is in the bedroom but only. through necessity! Bedrooms are for sleeping in my thinking, or reading I suppose, I do read to Roh in his room and I read before bed too.

M probably gets 2 x 20min fixes of TV a day....just when shes in her swing and to.keep her entertained while i get a fews bits done around the house. Its baby TV so some 'educational' stuff....she tries to.watch TV with us but we tend to sit her on our laps facing away from it.....must admit she was having a sneaky peak.at.the South Africa v England game today. I.dont.think.it does too much harm in that amount....she certainly wont.be getting.a tv in her room from 4!!!!....however tv serves a purpose for us some of the time

Ok emera....mixed success with muffins...tasted amazing.by the way....great flavours etc.but.they stuck.in the cases really bad even.though i greased them and the tops were lovely and cooked but the bottoms a little wet. I think kymied mentioned hers were...wonder if i grated.the carrot too fine and too much.moisture in them or maybe a little too much.yoghurt. Still get eaten but may have to.attempt again to perfect. Same with my NY baked cheesecake (sorry to mention that word)...i get it perfect every time now as i.know my oven....although it says 45 mins in recipe i cook for exactly 37 :haha:

Emera :hugs: tough day for you. Have a few minutes to yourself later to think about him. xxx

Mouse, no tv for D yet. Al's niece is scarily obsessed with Baby TV, and had been since a couple of months old. She stares through people to see the telly, and her parents can't turn the channel over without a tantrum (she is 19 months old now). I want to avoid it for as long as poss. If its on in the same room as us its generally just background noise. I'm not saying never, but at the moment I just want to avoid what my sil has done. each to their own though.

Lozza, have a fab time away, and I hope Z adapts well to travelling!

I've been so hungry all day, not sure what's up with me. Going to make some chocolate rice pudding in a bit as its slimming world friendly and tasty stodge. Just what I need!

I think at this stage the tv is the same to them as anything else that moves and makes sounds, right?

Interesting, Loo. I just remember how my little sister used to zombie-out in front of the tv (and my parents would let her) and I want to make sure we avoid that with G. Some is okay but too much is... Too much, I guess!

City, yeah its just a fancy lght show for now the tv, no harm at this point, but also no point either, you know? They may as well be watching the footie as educational stuff I think for now. In fact, I don't watch football, but used to let Roh watch it for a few minutes here and there, the coloured strips movng around against bright green appears to be really interesting. ;). I don't think there is much harm in it, but only in small quantites. Like you other lads I've been badly put off when my friend's little girl was just glued to the tv all the time and went mad if she couldn't see it or it got turned off/over. Occasionally I'll watch something in the daytime, and Roh generally sees the tv go on and asks hopefully for one of his shows, but if I say no, he just sort of shrugs and goes back to playing. :). I tthink I like where we are at, he'll watch it and enjoy it, but accept totally that he can't watch it all day, and I don't think he'd want to. Saying that, he keeps wanting to watch "Walking with Dinosaurs" at the moment, because he's gone dino/dragon mad since they put the ones in the zoo! :haha:

We only do baby einstein videos as far as letting her watch TV goes. Even then that is maybe once or twice a week. I don't want her to get in the habit of TV watching.
