March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

I just had a luscious glass AND A HALF of wine, and I'm not worried about it. I did a bunch of reading, and most (bit not all) scientists say if you no longer feel the effects of the wine when you feed, then baby shouldn't feel them either. In other words, it doesn't accumulate in the milk and stay there. So I fed the boys and then immediately boozed it up so that it would have 3 hours to metabolize. :wine:

City, don't forget Leaky Mouse!

My screen name is pretty obvious... Wonder twin powers activate! (I guess it shows my age.)

Tonight I'm going to try Emera's trick of putting my shirt in the bassinet. Cross your fingers that it helps them say put a little longer. Not that I mind having them cuddle in bed with us, but I think DH is missing out on our spooning. ;) Which reminds me... we were naughty and didn't wait 6 weeks to DTD. It was amazing to be able to move around without discomfort or pain! I only mention this so that you C section laddies can have hope knowing the healing goes pretty quickly.

P.S. Similar to City... I'd prefer my boys' full names not be used on BnB. It wouldn't be a big deal if their names were John and Bob Jones, but they are pretty unique, so I worry that repeated uses will lead to Google hits especially when their names are typed together. I'd rather my boys not be able to figure out that I wrote about them (and my hairy hoo hah) while they were still in the womb. ;) So perhaps I'll refer to them as Ken and Pete.

Hi Girls, hope you are well :flower:

I agree with the name thing, I dont like sharing too much detail on the open net...You never know do you!

How long did you wait to dtd wt? We've not tried it yet but I've been thinking about it...

I'm worried / not impressed, oh is still not home from his night out.

Congrats to Glow! She must be thrilled!

Keira has decided today that she will no longer self settle and needs to lay in the bed with mommy until she gets sleepy enough. Mommy is pretty sure its from everyone wanting to hold her all the time. Ugh.

As for FB, you can find me under Elizabeth L A M P M A N .. I'm too exhausted to add ppl right now and I'm about to go to sleep but feel free to add me. :)

We did it at about 4.5 weeks. I wore a bra so I wouldnt milk things up and a tank top so that my squishy belly wasn't invited to the party. :haha:

Have any of you had the joy of having LO spit milk down your belly while feeding? Not pleasant! Especially not at 130 a.m. My little twin (i.e. Pete) just showered me in warm milk. Eeewwwww

I will not be DTD until I have some proper contraception in place. I'm hoping to go on the depo once Aunt Flo shows her face. Until then I am going now where near my husband.

I'm a bit behind as I haven't had a drop of alcohol since Jessica was born. Mind you I supposed I'd better get taking all this medication out of the way before I do so.

We experienced our first projectile vomit last night. Thank God I had a muslin to hand or it would have hit the wall. I don't know if it was a combination of wind and too much milk or she has an upset tummy. A bit of posseting after, but no more vomit. Trouble is the husband tends to panic over things like this and it doesn't matter how many times I tell him it's normal baby related stuff.

Of course because Jessica slept most of yesterday she was wide wake most of the night. In the end I put her in her moses basket and left her to it as I was starting to nod off while holding her. I'd rather have a bored grumpy baby in a basket then anything happen to her because I feel asleep while holding her. Little tinker.

I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday.

Ooh lovely cuddles this morning with the 4 of us! :) guess it sort of makes up for Roh spilling 1/2 pint of squash over my side of the bed right after and F vomming up what seemed like 1/2 pint of sick right before! So, cute but feeling slightly gross and sticky. I think I might go jump in bthe shower whilst things are vaguely sane! :haha:

Uuurgh well parents here....not driving me too crazy yet ...well unti i put mia down in moses basket last night in out room ready for bedtime and dad decided to walk up stairs talking at top volume....he is partially deaf and had had 2 whiskies:nope:

So mia has decided to bring forward morning feed....had an 11pm feed...then 2:30....then 5:30 and 6:30....need to.drop that 5:30 one i think.

Ok quick question....i try not to hold mia to sleep too much ....i have cuddles time obviousky but when she is goibg for a nap i take the opportunity to put her in carrycot and do some stuff....however my mum likes to cuddle her when sleeping and i really dont want her to get used to it.....i am being over sensitive and she really cant remember at this age??!! Just dont wsnt her to become too reliant ha ha. (i sound bad but you know what i mean)

A good night for us considering she was sleepy most of the day yesterday. Only woke up at 5am for a feed and change then back down until 7.30. I'm sure she will realise at some point how good she is being and decide to start being a monkey, but we will take it for now!! I've relaxed about the length between feeds as she is getting loads of the right sort of nappies and she still getting 8 feeds a day.

As for DTD, I don't think that will be on the cards until we move out which should be in a month ish so sounds about right.

Mitch, I'm not sure but I have to admit to getting fed up with everyone wanting to cuddle her off to sleep at the moment. I feel like they're spoiling her as I really want her to learn how to settle and self soothe. With two other children, one who has autism, I just don't have the time to be cuddling babies off to sleep every 20 minutes or so.

Looks like Dharma has taken Mias crown for sleeping...really want her to go longer but think.she is doing pretty well considering...and i am surviving on some ok stretchs of sleep

Yea, she seems to like her night sleeping, but I'm not getting smug as I realise anything could change at this point! Can you believe Mia and Dharma are 2 weeks old tomorrow? It's nuts!

I asked about the holding until sleeping thing and have been told from several midwives that at this stage it makes no difference because they are not forming routines. However if D isn't screaming down the house, I try to let her settle herself in her basket for good practice. Sometimes I need to dummy to do this. At the end of the day, I need that second arm to put out washing/make lunch/get the feeling back :haha: so a bit of both works for me.

Off to the house for a couple of hours after this feed to start measuring up for various bits and bobs. Feels like its all coming together now!

I think the self settling is as much training oursleves as it it our babies. I need to get used to putting her down and leaving her to go off to sleep, otherwise I'd be picking her up with every squeak. A mistake I made with Amy. Something I don't intend on repeating.

noah woken up with a really gunky right eye... greeny discharge and he's really unsettled...boiled water/breast milk/dr????

xxx

Breast milk. It really does work. Jessica had a very gummy eye that was stuck shut. I had been bathing with cooled boiled water to no effect. two drops of leaked breast milk in her eye before bed and in the morning her eye was completely clear. At the time my 6 year old had ear infections in both ears and for a second I considered squirting some milk down them.

Waula I agree with See3 breast milk is great on gummy eyes! Some people recommend it for everything, but I'm not so sure. Gummy eyes tho definitely

Mitch. It won't spoil Mia for now, but your mum liikely needs to be made aware she can't be cuddling a sleeping baby in 3 months time (unless she wants to be available for holding every sleep all the time forever! :haha:) realistcally the 6 week pont is when babies can actually 'learn' to self-settle and start to be affected by repeated rituals (bath low lighting calm music and a bottle of expressed milk means bedtime, wash daytime clothes and mummy singing that song again means morning time etc.) So until that point you are pretty safe. Even after that you can get away with messing with the routine until about 6 months+ However, like See3 said its as much about training ourselves to let them grubble a bit whilst getting tthemselves off, rather than interferring each time they make a noise. I let Roh have all his daytime naps on me until about 7 months old, because I had time to sit cuddling him for hours. It wasn't too bad gettng him to nap in his cot, just a week or so of effort, so not a problem to change. Safe to say I won't be letting Freyja sleep on me for 7 months though! :haha:

See3 glad its not just me dealing with the projectile voms! I have to admit, she did one this morning, totally out of the blue, and it was soo forceful and so much of it, I got a bit freaked out! Was thinking about callng someone to check it was normal. Then I went into parent mode. Decided she has wet and dirty nappies aplenty, she's not got any signs of dehydration, and she's not even slightly upset about vomming either before or after. its probably just overfeeding + trapped wind, right?

Went for a nice walk and a full english for brunch. Lush :) must admit to being a little more nervous about feeding F out now she's doing her exorcist thing now and then!

Oh meant to say about dtd... Not sure about it really :ignore: I've been really blocked up, and had to strain a bit (TMI sorry!!) And then after I had loads of bright red blood, and when I felt, I'd split my tear a little bit with the straining! I'm takng this as a sign I'm maybe not ready to dtd! :haha: also, I'm not sorting contraception until my 6 week check, and I think OH won't touch me with a barge pole until then! He's talking about getting the snip!! :haha: I was a bit upset as I would like another child(not right now though!!!)He said its more because he doesn't want me to be pregnant again, rather than the resulting child! :haha: guess I was a bit of a pain in the arse these last few months!
