March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Well oh got home St 9am. Feeling very sorry for himself. I wasn't impressed but am over it now. Going to see the bf councillor this afternoon. Nervous.

Ted vommed in my hair thisorning. So it seems to be a new thing our babies are learning.

thanks for the advice on the milk into gummy eye thing - i got a bit grossed out trying to squeeze in directly in so hand expressed a bit onto some cotton wool - not done much hand expressing and OMG I can make it shoot out a long way!!!!!!!

I'm with you lads on the unexpected explosive vom'ing. For me it is definitely a 3am trick and it occurs whilst he's on the boob which is a very messy event. There's so much of it too. Torent like. Like you emera, I was a bit panicked but he seems so not bothered by the event that i figure its wind/overfill... but its so not what you need at 3am. Or at anytime. And I hadn't really thought about the logistics of that happening when we were not at home. OMG.

I have started to employ the infacol though...only because when he's feeding overnight he has such a gurgly tummy and brings his knees up and makes a really painful screechy sound and also swipes his head side to side which is somewhat painful on the ol' nips! I'm hoping that's the right thing to use??! He HATES it but I'm hoping it may help him...

I'm in the midst of 3week feeding frenzy and feeling horribly emotional about everything. Had horrid fall out with DH this morning after he made himself breakfast and hadn't offered to get me anything and I was stuck on the sofa feeding Noah yet again... stupid hormones. Probably a bit grumpy about DH going back to work tomorrow...

Missy - naughty OH - bet he feels very sorry for himself!!! That was quite a session... Hope all goes ok with BF lady today...thinking of you!

Glowie - so very pleased for your new arrival hun!!! Can't wait to have you and the other lads-in-waiting in here!!!

FT - rhubarb recipe: 1kg rhubarb trimmed and chopped into 3cm chunks, roasted in juice and rind of an orange with a tsp vanilla extract and 180g sugar at 180 for 30mins covered in greaseproof. Whip 300ml dbl cream til soft peaks. Blitz 3/4 of rhubarb with a couple of tbsp of juice in whizzer then gently mix with cream and add in the remaining
chunks and dollop into large servings and eat!!! Scrummy.

Hope everyone is doing ok - so jealous of you lads with babies that sleep well at night  so tired at this end!!!

xxx

EDIT: DTD? Ha. Are you all mad???!!! :haha: I think not. Not until there is considerable more sleep in this house. x

Blitz in the whizzer??? I love having friends from other countries - so FUN to hear/read different ways of talking!!!! :happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

I'm guessing it means puree in the blender??

Haha yes Crowned! ;)

sounds lush Waula, if i can make space in my all chocolate diet then i'll make some too! ;)

Emera, Missy, Waula - I hear you on the projectile vomitting. Such force and always looks like twice as much came up as went down. It made the husband do his headless chicken routine. I just stayed calm, mopped up, changed her clothes and ignored her requests for more milk for five minutes and then tried again. She didn't do it again, so hopefully that was the right thing to do. But you do end up questioning yourself over these things, no mater how many times you've been through it before.

Missy, the husband went out with friends to wet the baby's head when Jess was about a week old. He drifted home at 2am and then promptly fell over the baby gate bringing it crashing to the floor. When I questioned him about the gate inthe morning he tried to convince me it had simply fallen off and was like that when he got home!

Jess has been awake for over two hours kicking about on her play mat and looking at her gorgeous self in the mirror. Hopefully that means she won't be awake for two hours in the wee hours of the night. Mummy doesn't do entertaining at 2am thank you very much!

When does the projectile vomming start?? D's never even been sick, but from what you lads are saying, they are all at it by 3 weeks!!!!!! I don't want to be wiping spew off the walls!! :brat:

Loo - Roh never was sick! He did a little spit up occassionally, but never the rivers of vom we are getting from miss exorcist here!! It freaked me out the 3 times she's done it now. She's sicky in general, but the big volume projectile is scary! I was questioning if she has a bug or something, but she seems normal otherwise  We have just had a total poonami though! Filled the nappy and right up to her neck up her back!! Guess she's just going large on the body functions for now!

A POONAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

D announces hers with an incredibly loud fart. There is no mistaking when she needs her nappy changing, even the dogs jump when she trumps!

Hey ladies, I've been keeping up but finding it hard to post!!!

Projectile vomiting- yep we had that here!! Started bub on infants friend (he loves the stuff so cute) and have started burping after every feed which seems to have helped (was told you didn't need to burp a breastfeeding baby!! Lies!!!)! I think the whole thing is due to an immature muscle at the top of the stomach which maybe is begginging to sort itself out???

DTD- I'm nearly 4weeks pp and still bleeding so nothing going on here! Hubby has been onto me about it though!

So a little update on my little man!! His so beautiful!! So in love! His been a little hard to settle at times which I'm begginging to think is maybe colic?? He doesn't scream for hours but he doesn't cry much in general.. He insted grunts and groans. But he shows all the other symptoms though so I'm going to speak with the health nurse when I see her this week! Bub is certainly packing on the weight. He is due to be weighed again this week but last time he was weighed in just a 4 day space he had gained 430gms!! His getting so chunky!!! His also extremely strong for his age! At 2 1/2 weeks he managed to roll from his belly to his back!!! Crazy! He is also starting to smile and I can see him learning all the time!! I'm loving being a mum so much!!! As for me I've lost 12 1/2kgs since giving birth! Only 4 1/2 till pre preg weight then I'd like to loose some more!! Can't wait to be able to excersize again! Want to try tighten my jelly belly!!

Seems like your all doing a great job with your babies!! Your all wonderful mums I'm sure! I love how much everyone helps everyone on here! It's great to have you all to talk to even if I don't post much!!

sorry crowned!!! you correctly guessed the "blitz in the whizzer" - to be honest I couldn't remember the word for blender (is this baby brain?) so thought whizzer would be fairly descriptive!!! :dohh:

Loo - is D the perfect baby???! :winkwink: Sleeps all night...never vom's...fancy a swap?!! :haha: maybe it is a 3 week thing...

Emera - not had an up-the-back nappy yet but my fairly squeamish friend was holding Noah yesterday when I noticed a spreading stain... it wasn't pretty!!! love the "poonami" phrase...that's been added to the surf board/scratch and sniff/eggfaced combo...

Wouldlov - i'm with you on looking forward to getting to do some exercise...dog walk with the sling is as close as I can get at the minute!!! sounds like your little man is piling on the pounds - we get weighed on tuesday and i can't wait - Noah's grown a lot!!!

OK so we're on the 5th feed using Infacol and only had single massive burps since and no vom/screechy knees to chest whilst feeding. Fingers crossed its helping - we'll see how we get on with the 3am vom session...

Is Dharma the perfect baby???? Ummmmmm, Well as she cried (screamed) constantly for about 5 days until I started the switch feeding... That was pretty testing!!!

BF lady was amaaaaaaaaaaaazing. I love her. She showed me some biological nurturing positions and Ted latched on really well and fed for ages in front of her. She thinks he might be tongue tied though so i'm going to keep an eye on it and see if it needs fixing.

Waula - whizzer is ok! My dad once referred to it as a jizzer, pretty sure he was thinking of something else.

Mmm just woke from a lovely nap....had a bangibg head...i really dont drink.enough water for this bf malarchy :-(

Everyone bf'ing...how long is your LO averaging between.feeds duribg day and night? I want to make sure Mias about right...my day seems to go from one session.to another....i would say anything from 1hour to 2.5hours....average maybe 1.5-2. Normal?

Loo...cant remember what you meant be switch feeding??

Loo - ha I'd forgotten about the screaming version of D!!! So glad you've got her settled with the switch feeding - remind me what it is again, its more than just switching sides half way through isn't it...

Missy - so glad your BF lady was a good'un!!! Yay for a good Ted feed too... is this tongue tied thing hard to diagnose??? And yes, I don't like the sound of a jizzer...!

Mitch - Noah goes anything from 1hr - 3 hours between feeds but I've given up even looking at a clock now and just feed him when he wants it - especially on our feeding frenzy days like today... And yes, you need to drink a ridiculous amount of water... I try and drink a pint per feed and even then don't find i'm weeing very much!!!

Such a beautiful evening here...going to take Noah and the dogs for a walk in the sunshine before he wakes for another feed...!

xxx

Thanks waula...sounds like i am experiencing the norm with her then.....must up the water though. I never have enough for night feeds. I am soooo looking forward to her sleeping longer stretches at night....she is doing ok bless her...just need to push more towards 4 hours. Night we are getting 3-3.5 hours.

Enjoy your walk with Noah...i find Mia sleeps longer periods on the move

A jizzer!!!!!

Mitch, during the day D feeds every 2 hours ish, and usually has 7 or 8 feeds lasting about 20-30 mins, she has her last feed about 10 which I sometimes wake her for because I need to try and go to bed after then. That means she goes down about 11, and usually wakes once maybe twice in the night. I think the main thing is just don't get worried if she varies from what they have been doing. D doesn't have routine, it's ME who likes to go to bed at 11, and though she sleeps well at the mo, I am fully prepared that tonight she might want extra feeds.

Switch feeding is a method my bf support woman taught me in order for D to feel fuller and/or go longer between feeds (this was when she was screaming constantly from unlatching until next feed time, which inevitably was brought forward because of the screaming). You let baby feed of each side until she has finished doing the deep gulps, then you switch over sides. You switch over as many times as she wants (when I started it was often 3-4 times. It tricks your body into producing enough fatty filling milk, so when she switches that is what she is getting.

I know it sounds a bit of a faff, but it's worked in really satisfying D. It can take up to 24 hours to start working as it can take that long for your body 'perform'. Now she has got into it we generally only feed once from each side, about 10 or so mins each breast.

Lol jizzer! :D

Mitch 3.5 hours at night is good at this point :) we are between 1-4 hours from staryt of one feed to start of next one here, feels alright. I think the massive voms here are caused by comfort feeding. Have started to push the dummy a bit more through today and hasn't happened again, so fingers crossed I'll get this one dummy hooked and she'll stop pigging out quite so much! ( I'm happy for her to feed like mad, but npt if the whole lot is going in my lap 30 mins later!)

Loo - do you have to wake D up between sides? do you burp her between sides???

Poonami!! Love it! Speaking of which... my non-pooing baby has made up for lost time!

Wouldluv, so happy you're loving your little man. I agree about exercising... I have gone for a couple long walks pushing the stroller, but nothing that would count as strength training (unless you count lugging babies around in my arms all day) and my abs are really weak. If I can be in my pre pregnancy shape (not just weight) at 4-5 months, I'll be happy.

So baby acne... I know it's harmless. But any tips to help it clear up faster? Breast milk cures everything else so perhaps it works as a baby skin cleanser too?! :haha:

(I started this post an hour ago. :dohh: Babies have been fighting their sleep!!)

Loo, Laura, Emera, C3PO I added you all. You'll recognize me. Missy do I have you already? I also don't have Mouse.
 Yes, you do! Am I that forgettable?

Sorry mouse! There you are! It must just be that you're avoiding all the "did you have the baby yet" trolls :haha:

We do not have a norm between feeds. Anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours. Now he is sleep nursing. Snoozing between sucks, a lazy Sunday.

My stepsister passed away this morning. She has a lap-band and has been having bad acid reflux because of it and neglected going to the doctor about it. Overnight she managed to put up enough acid to cause cardiac arrest. I'm both sad and pissed because it was preventable.
