March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

lozza - love the breastfeeding story

lamaze - we have a few, we have the firefly, an elephant head thing that hangs off the pram, a knot toy and also a lamaze play gymn thing

emera - i suggest making a couple of quiches!

we had another fantastic night last night, he slept until 5am and then had a feed and then slept until 8am when i had to wake him (!!) because we were going out at 8.30am

i totally think it is down to putting him in his own room - has worked wonders!

just waiting for the agent now, squeaky clean house slightly less squeaky after taking the 2 dogs for a walk in the rain.... hopefully the mud will dry and i can hoover it up

we can support R standing by hands only but i worry it is not good for his feet/legs for him to hold his own weight. anybody know if it is bad for them? he def holds his own weight when i let him

Cuppie, its certainly not bad for them for the sort of periods they can sustain it. For example the maximum F would be able to support her weight is maybe a minute or two tops. After that she flops to a sitting position. So a minute or two is only going to act as good exercise and strengthen their muscles, it won't do any harm at all!

I'm totally going to make a veggie quiche, and a plum crumble cake with custard and I think I'll make toad in the hole also, as I have about 16 pints of milk! :haha: Can't believe I'm such a plonker! :dohh:

Hope the estate agent visit goes well! :)

emera... 20 eggs = alot of cake :winkwink: and dont forget you can freeze milk as a last resort if you just cant use it all :haha:

is anyone else going insane watching the mickey mouse clubhouse all day? It seems to transfix G so i sacrifice my sanity for him

still miserable here. fed up of this hotcoldhotcold weather. PAH. Im literally not going out until i have zumba tonight. will take him out and about tomorrow instead heehee

So i have a KIT day with work on aug 1st...... soooo not looking forward to it.... and mat leave is passing by WAY too fast.

FT, mat leave vanishes, doesn't it! :(
My freezer is bursting already, or the milk wouldn't be a problem! I've also got insane quantities of lettuce, and its so not salad weather! Ah well, needs must! Salad and cake it is!!! :haha:

Oh, and happily the only pre-school channel we have here is cbeebies and I just record the decent shows and play them when Roh has tv time! He's really in to animals at the moment, so we've been watching the "Life" series this morning (on and off) F finds David Attenborough's voice soothing, which is a bonus! (So do I for that matter!)

i just had a crab and olive salad, and u are right - it is so NOT salad weather :(

Well veggie quiche, plum crumble cake, rice pudding and toad in the hole in the oven! Custard ready to make and I'm thinking meringues with the whites after everything is cooked. Just going to make a ham salad for lunch. Crab sounds better though!

Oh yeaah food porn is back!

Yeah for all the cookibg emera...puts me to shame!!

Well M was a little angel at our visit today...helped she could have a good nap.on the way and the way back. Hubby should be home in an hour or two where M will be handed over for a while:happydance:

ft....i have told that i am off limits til Sept then plan 2-3 KIT days between then and end of year....its gonna go quickly. No looking forward to.it...but am fired up for the 4 day week chat with.them for sure:thumbup:

Afternoon lads, Sorry not been around this weekend, O's still been a bit under the weather, just grumpy and off her food really but means she wants feeding every hour or so during the day but only drinks small amounts. I'm glad i'm not breast feeding and think you lads that are/were are bloody amazing!
I am however getting an i phone today (we managed to get a free one, long story that involves car phone warehouse mucking up) so will be able to come on when the laptop is far away!

hope your all good

I've read back, but forgotten everything I wanted to reply. Sigh.

I'm so jealous of everyone's cool, rainy weather. It has been insanely hot here. It should cool down a bit by Wednesday which is July 4th holiday. (Side note: Missy, the image of you pouring Hershey's syrup atop marshmallows made me giggle. That's not exactly how it's done, but that does sound very yummy!)

It looks like we're facing our first sniffles. :( K woke up last night with a huge sneeze. Then he started choking as he swallowed back all the snot that had come out. When I went to get him from his crib, he had goo all over his face where he'd obviously rubbed his fist in it and smeared it everywhere. ICK!!! He also had a fever, poor little thing. So I brought him to bed with me and let him sleep on my chest. He was burning up most of the night. :(

So should I try to keep the twins apart so they don't make each other sick? Or should I get K to drool all over P so I can just get it over with?

Aaaw poor K WT:hugs:. To be honest if K has all the symptoms of the sniffles then he has passed the really contagious stage....if P going to get it, he will already be incubating it so keeping them apart wont help now :nope:. They are more contagious before displaying symptoms. Fingers crossed P.doesnt get....and/or its a mild one x x

WT, aww, its so sad when they have sniffles! Mitch is right if they are both gonna get it, then they are, not much you can do at this point sadly. :hugs: hope its a mild one!

L+L sounds just like F, O. Must be teething!

WT - i think it is envitable that they will both get it unfortunately

yay for the cooking Emera, plus meringues keep for quite a long time so thats one way of storing without having to use the freezer

estate agent now gone and guess what???? we have out first viewing this evening, they are coming over at 6.15pm. i said we would go out just a shame its right when R's usual bedtime is (still its worth mucking up the routine as they are serious buyers already SSTC)

nervous now.... lol

I know you all are right... they share everything else, so I guess germs are just part of it. Hopefully it's a mild sniffle. Poor babies. They start daycare next Monday, so I see lots of sniffles in our future unfortunately. On a positive note, they'll have immune systems of steel once they make it through the initial sicky spell. (When I put DS1 in daycare, he was constantly sick for about 6 months. But after that, he didn't get sick again for something like 5 years!)

Cup- So exciting that you already have your first showing!!! It makes your cleaning more worthwhile.

Oh... and since my mind is focused on sicky babies... I just learned that the US has changed its dosing recommendations (and rules) for baby Tylenol, and the boys are too young for ibuprofen. When DS1 was this age, we used both. Scary how the recommendations change. Luckily, DS1 never had any ill effects. Remind me what you lads give your LOs for pain relief? Starts with a C.

Calpol!

KIT days reminds me my boss has resigned and leaves this month. i'm gutted as he was great and also very flexible. i doubt now ill be able to do the 5 days in 4 i hoped to, and be so flexible about travel to london so suspect i may end up having to change jobs next year. Should mean a payrise hopefully but scary as ive only moved internally for the lsat 8 years.

Thanks! So I looked it up, and that's the same thing as Tylenol. I was hoping it was some sort of alternative that I could get one of you lads to send me. :haha: Oh well. We'll just be careful of dosages and keep track of who got what. When DS1 was little, we alternated between Tylenol and Motrin (ibuprofen) so that there was less chance of toxicity from only taking the same thing over and over. But now, they don't want babies under 6 months to have Motrin.

WT this can be used with normal calpol from 3 months (https://www.calpol.co.uk/our-products/calprofen-ibuprofen-suspension) What age do you go by with your boys?

WT we can use infant Ibuprofen suspensions from 3 months still here. I find it works better for teething than Calpol but you can't give as many doses in 24 hours I think. When they have a high fever alternating Calpol and Nurofen every 3 hours is great! I have a feeling they recommend waiting 4 hours now when alternating them, but it helped a lot when Roh was ill with a temp.
Childcare is terrible to start with, they get ill with something new every week! Roh has never been to childcare but sees friends most weeks who do, so he still had that "sick for 6 months" thing!

Hey ladies

E is miserable with her gums. Hoping it breaks through soon.

I got some powders and bongela

Emera didnt know i could use iuprofen yet - calpol isnt making a difference :(

Cupcake....good luck with the house sale....hope todays viewing went well. Exciting!!!! Its weird cos moving house (espec buying and selling at the same time) is soooo stressful but i think its like childbirth...you forget the pain and miss the excitement of viewing properties and moving. Then when you do it again you remember :happydance:. I always said that but never had childbirth to compare it too....and now i do!!! Isnt it amazing what we have created...these little babies which will grow up to be proper little people. Its quite humbling and makes me a bit weepy ....do these hormones ever calm down :haha:

Just ordered Dominos pizza as hubby is back home:happydance:....i have a glass of wine, hubby next to me, M in bed and i feel very content

(Sorry feeling very weird tonight )

yum to dominos, we have got sainsburys pizza again!

hopefully get some feedback from viewing tomorrow, def made the cleaning worthwhile! i have never moved in a chain before because last time we sold our flat and moved in with my parents for 3 months before buying this house so have been chain free both times.
