March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

To be fair Loo, a rock like that, you could put it in a pot noodle and I'd be happy! :haha:

Lozza, sorry about your bad dreams, ugh.

Mitch, LMAO at you saying no! You cruel beastie!

Loo, what if Al just came home and was like, "Well, did you find the ring? What's it going to be?" :haha:

My DH proposed while we were on a weekend getaway for our five-year anniversary. It was freezing out (well maybe 2 degrees C) and I'd dressed up for dinner in shoes with no toes. I knew he was going to propose because he was very protective of his pocket. So after dinner, he said, let's go for a walk on the pier, and I was like, let's go back to the hotel first and get warmer clothes, and he was like, NO, let's go for a walk. So I gave in. We walked to the end of the pier, where it was pitch dark and we could hear seals and sea lions honking below us, and I said, I can't feel my toes. So he knelt and rubbed them and then said, "Since I'm down here..."

Awwwwwwwww. So cute.

Aw mouse that's so cute!

My DH isnt remotely romantic, he thinks he was though as he decorated the dining room with candles and cooked a meal for my 30th. He popped upstairs to get the ring after dessert and said here's your birthday present. I had to make him say will you marry me (he asked if he really had to as thought it was lame!) I didn't say yes until he'd asked me properly. I think he was a bit gutted I wasn't more surprised so loo definitely act surprised!! His highlight of the whole process was going to the jewellery quarter in Birmingham and negotiating 20% off the price, he loves a haggle :dohh:

Loving the engagement stories! Mine was a surprise trip to USA for two weeks and very elaborate (treasure hunts, website, quiz's including quadratic equations!!!! Surprise flowers everywhere, eventually asked me in Yosemite national park with bottle of bubbles and plastic champagne flutes! Couldn't really say no, he had my passport!!!! and yes, he thinks he's done enough for a lifetime!!!!!

Off out for leaving do tonight do getting n into bed then leaving him with daddy! Left 6oz milk and five different bottles so he shouldn't starve even though he won't take a bottle!!!! Wish me luck!!!
Xx

Hi lads! I haven't posted here in a really long time. I've been trying to keep up but I don't think the daily emails keep up very well. Welcome to the new people!

I hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe some of you are introducing food already! A relative gave E a feeding set and I was like "that's so far away." Hubby informed me that 6 months is just over two months away. NOoooo! My tiny baby can't grow big that fast!

My main problem right now is my dog. She suddenly developed severe separation anxiety and has jumped off a roof and destroyed a carpet and door. I got kinda pissed at my husband about the last one because I told him to leave her out and he insisted on crating her again even though she had broken out many times. And he wasn't home when I discovered it. She now has three broken teeth (from chewing out of a metal crate) and an occasional limp (from jumping off a 12 foot roof). I was really broken up for a while because I was afraid we would have to get rid of her and a 5 year old with major behavioral issues is not very good for adoption. We're now seeing a behavioral vet for training and meds. The trainer said she doesn't think she's a lost cause. (But this is going to be very expensive.)

Babywise: The past couple days have been hard: hot and muggy with a side of teething. E is really starting to use his hands, less flailing more grabbing. The other day I was driving home and I looked in the mirror and saw him staring at his fingers while he open and closed his hand. It was amazing! Like it was the second he realized that he could control his hands. The next day he held on to a fish rattle and shook it. And smacked me in the face with it. Only a mama would be excited to be smacked in the face with a stuffed fish.

He's finally putting on some chub and getting taller every day. The 6 month onesies are getting small on him! He's got a touch of diaper rash or heat rash. I've been trying to air him out every day. Today I had him in his crib on a towel and I went downstairs to get a bowl of cereal (less than two minutes) and I come back and there is a line of pee across the carpet and the bars of the crib. :dohh: Boys. What do you lads use for diaper rash? I've tried the ointments but they only help a little and they're so gloppy.

My friends who have been TTC for 6 years are pregnant! The baby has a nice strong heartbeat. I cried when I heard. I'm so happy for them. They had to do IVF but they have five more embryos frozen for future children.

loving the engagement stories too

sorry to hear about your dog kym, sounds stressful for everyone, and congrats for your friends!

im feeling broody... about 5 people i know are due in july/august!

Kym, i use an ointment called Metanium if it gets really bad. Otherwise i use a chamomile tea bag, made wet and then just put against the bad area and then put the nappy on. It works really well. Sorry you re having doggy trouble, hope the meds and behaviour training help out! :hugs:

Oh I forgot to say the other day at work I was pumping and a coworker walked in! He didn't see anything because my pump was on the desk right in front of me but so much for providing me a space free from intrusion. I have to talk to my boss about getting a better location.

Last Saturday I picked up E from MIL's and she had him in his swing ON THE TABLE in from of the TV. #1 He shouldn't be propped in front of a TV, he's only three months old. #2 The swing wasn't buckled, if he squirmed his way out (which he can) he could fall on the floor and really hurt himself or worse. Umm hello you only watched him for four hours, can't grandmas entertain babies for longer than that?! She also defrosted all the bottles of milk. Two bottles were leftover so I had to bottle feed him the next morning and pump to refill my stash. Hubby's again leaving E with her tomorrow afternoon. I'm writing him a note of the things to tell her. #1 frozen milk stays in the freezer until you need it. #2 don't leave him in front of the TV #3 Don't leave him on the table!!!! I'm starting to understand why my friend yelled at his FIL....

Loo - Wow! I can't wait to hear the story.
My hubby and I had been talking about how our relationship had the "possible potential for permanency" our "five year plan". So he buys a ring and walks in the door while I'm washing dishes and asks me to be part of his "more than five year plan" Mind you I had to bring the ring back to the store to be resized because they sell them in size 7 and I'm a size 5. I only had the ring for a half hour before it was sent out for two weeks. I would have preferred he ask me after it had been sized.

Loo, exciting times in the Loo household!

AFM, I... Asked DH to marry me! On a military station, next to a bomb disposal truck. mind you, I did put on a pretty dress for the occasion!

NW lads, if you organise another meet up I'll make sure I can get there, even if I have to swim or something!

Laura, the truck would have been a handy place to throw him if he'd said no! ;)

Kymied! So sorry about your dog. So happy you're able to work with trainers instead of having to give her up. I think babies are a bigger strain on them than we realize, unless they're dogs who have huge outlets for their nervous energy. My DH is away at the moment and our dog seems pretty blue about it.

I think I did better with the Close. Pretty sure my straps were way too tight! I might still sew a Mei tai out of fabric I already own, just to see if I like it.

Some crackin proposal stories on here.... :happydance: Loo - that ring is beautiful - love it!!
My dad jokingly said to my OH when we had only been seeing each other for a few weeks - that he would pay for us to go to Gretna Green...... 18 years later.... still not got round to it - don't like rushing into these things - haha!

Kym - your poor dog - doesn't sound at all fun!

so.... 'bad mum alert' Had taken M upstairs this morning - as had just received a call from the hospital - asking me to attend before 11:30am (new meds (injections) arrived this morning - and they wanted me in asap...) sat on the bed 'row row rowing the boat' when he started straining..... poonami followed...... took his trousers off - ready for when I got back downstairs - then the landline went - moved him so he was sat in the middle of the pillows - and not able to move....... then crash bang wallop...... shreeeeeeeeeekkkk - somehow - he had somehow fallen off the bed! My heart sank - as his shrieks got louder. I have seriously never felt sooo sick...... What felt like an hour of us both sobbing our hearts out (even now thinking of this is making me teary......) There were no physical signs of injury - and he landed on clothes and carpet - but I just feel awful!! My mum has been absolutely wonderful since M arrived - and dotes on him - but I could feel her disappointment in me today! I must have been upstairs 1000 times since he went to bed - even though I can hear him on the monitor - just want to make sure he is still breathing! In my head- I know I am being over cautious - but just feel shizer!

Aw, Birdie, all's well that ends well. Glad he's okay! :hugs:

Meant to say, lads, I was thinking this morning how I don't feel lonely even with DH gone and of course realized its because I had the mamas to turn to! Not that DH would have wanted to hear about my engorged bosom at 5 am... Even more reason to cherish you all.

Oh, and I vote that this becomes a perpetual pregnancy/mommy group. No running off and forming new allegiances just because you get knocked up!

Speaking of knocked up, who was it that was waiting on AF?

mitch - the baby pack sounds good! which company was that through? we have hire cars when get there and one comes with a car seat. The roads are notoriously quiet in menorca so i feel safe using one provided. we will be bringing our pram and putting it in the hold of the plane as you can do so for free.will be baby carrier once through security etc. a cot is supplied in the villa. sooooo cant wait xxxx

kymied - soooo happy for your friends :happydance:

Blue_Bird - forgive yourself. M has :hugs:

Our proposal - we were skiing in France on Xmas Eve. After spending the day on the slopes we returned to our room and i saw a piece of paper on our balcony. I walked over and read it and it said ''will you marry me?''
I shouted ''omg someone is proposing and its blown onto our balcony!!!!!'' i then turned around and DH was down on one knee. I was so shocked and i sooooo didnt expect it that i ran and jumped on him and then remembered to say yes.

was amazing .... even if i did think it was someone elses proposal! (which he's never let me forget :haha: )

OK LADS..... please dont take this the wrong way but im hugely curious in all the teething that seems to be taking place on this thread. We had a child dentist specialist visit baby group this morning and she said that 4 months is exceptionally early to be teething .... that 6 months is MUCH more likely. I said that G was drooling more, eating hands etc and she took a look at his gums, confirmed he is not teething and is just exploring his mouth.

If it so early then how come so many babies on this thread are teething??? Im just worried that im being misinformed.

EDIT TO ADD: ive still had no AF..... have we decided that thats odd?

Unusual Laura! Did you get do it on a leap year, were you fed up waiting to be asked? We'll look forward to meeting you at last!!

Kym _ hello!! Nice to have you back, I know you said it was easier to keep up on FB, but only cos people don't write on there much, here's a much more fun place. Sorry about your dog, and annoying mil. Hope your husband gets the message through - has he been to the uk yet?

Just been out for a meal with my dad, he's staying nearby tonight 400 miles into a lands end to John o'groats bike ride. Z slept in his car seat from 6.15 to 9.45, a whole 3.5 hours :happydance: but then woke up as soon as we tried to transfer him into the cot (trying the travel cot tonight). How annoying, he'd have slep for ages in the car seat but he'd already been in there far too long. There must be a good transfer technique. I'm now having to feed back to sleep but he's had a good guzzle :dohh:
