March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

WT - wow thats crazy good on the weight loss.... go mama! inspire me please :winkwink: right now junk food is my best friend :nope:

are u ladies who are BFeeding all also expressing? im unsure whether to wait until milk is established or not.

is anyone doing the odd formula feed so DH/OH can do one feed?

Ft...i hired an electric breast pump from surestart and picked it up on thursday. Expressed 3oz on saturday and sunday morning just so hubby could do a bottle feed with it....i know its slightly too early to do it regularly until milk totally established. Mw said leave for at least 2 weeks but alot of information says leave for 3-4 weeks...suppose it depends on how established your bf is...if LO taken to it before confusing him/her. M is totally great at latching and getting milk from me and the couple of bottles she has had from hubby (makes sure he give rather than you...emeras advice).

Bf is just soooo easy but it is not something i am going to do exclusively forever...i plan to introduce either more expressed milk or formuka very soon so hubby can share feeding, formula has heen proven by several of my nct friends to help their LOs go longer at night and i want to be able to go out for dinner...have a couple of glasses of wine and not worry about bf'ing afterwards. BUT i am slightly scared of the whole sterilising, making up milk etc etc and not being bad for LO....also she tends to get slightly more wind with bottle.

So might be a little early for you to express regularly...worth leaving for another week or so.

i havent expressed yet... i was planning on expressing so hubby can feed or we can leave him with my parents to go out for dinner or something but im not sure now. Im also a bit scared of sterilising etc

no formula here, to be completely honest i would rather not get into the whole bottle thing if i can help it. i havent bought any bottles or formula so dont see the point in spending the money. i have one bottle which came with my pump if i decide to express.

forgot so say, as for my weight loss, i have lost 1 stone so far. I need to lose another stone to get back to my pre-preg weight and 1 1/2 stone to get back to my ideal weight. I was slightly overweight when i got pregnant.

i have a horrible little paunchy belly at the mo. I look like i have a pregnant jelly belly. and the stretchies look horrible too. hopefully the belly will go down soon.

I just decided to express, i managed to get 4oz off one booby, which i'm chuffed with. Thats a night feed for OH to give.

KK - i'm so sorry about your granddad. Hugs

FT - i was terrible for the weepies in week one, and part of week two. Literally crying at anything. OH did NOT know what was going.

Baby T passed his hearing test! Yayyyyy. But it took ages as there was a poonado incident jsut as she arrived (seriously - up to his shoulders).

Oh yeah and with weight loss, pre preg i was 12 and a half ish stone, end of preg i was nearly 15 stone (booooohoooo) now i'm about 12 stone 10 I think. I might do a comparison of pics like what emera did.

Missy....yeah for Ts hearing test and great boob expressing :haha:....think mine are ramping up still.

Weight loss wise....i was about 9st 10lbs ish....went up to about 12st 4-5lbs....now down to 10st 6 ish (when went on scales a few days ago)

Cupcake...still jelly belly  but no stretchies:happydance:

mrscup - i'm with you on the whole can't be bothered with bottles when boobs are so much easier!! but will get the pump out one day soon... oh and awesome news on your next birth!!!! xxx

missy - glad ted's ears are all good! hows the BFing today??? 4oz sounds a lot. Might have to pump just to see what comes out!!! whats teds weight up to now?? xxx

weight - jellybelly but feels like its getting stronger...stretchies bad and thought i'd got away with it!!!! oh well... was 14st at my most pregnant...now just 11. bonkers. another 1/2-1 stone would be nice but whatever!!!!! xxx

I think the BF is great thanks. This BN is so relaxed and calm. He never cries when he's trying to attach. I love it. I even wrote to the woman who created it to thank her. They didn't weigh him, which is a bit annoying. I might go to clinic tomorrow and get him done...

What pump do you all have? I have the medela swing, i'm pretty sure that's why i've been so lucky with expressing. It's really good.

The top of my head is killing me, like i've banged it, but i can't remember doing it... maybe my hair up is too tight...?

Awww, i just noticed all our "current feelings" are in love or happy (apart from lazy old FT).

i've only got a borrowed manual pump...heard good things about medela swing though... need to give it a go. tomorrows job... xx

Thanks for all your feedback and support . I know he understands and I will get to see him Wednesday night.

Missy- Yay for Ted passing the hearing test and I'm glad the feeding has gotten better for you both.

I have the Madela Tote for pumping. Bought it after Eve was in NICU and had to pump when I couldn't be there. I think pumping and BF increased my supply. I think she likes the bottle better because it's less work, so I'm not giving her the option for a few weeks.

Missy - Congrats on him passing the hearing test!

I have the Medela Freestyle which I love. <3

Hah Missy let your hair down! :haha: I have the medela swing pump too got 5oz in 15 mins the other day. I used to get about 6oz in 30 mins last time so think I stll have a bit of oversupply. Nit going to pump for a bit to see if it settles.

I'm knackered went into town with both kds alone to shop for bday presents. April is as bad as xmas here I've got OH, my mum, SIL and Roh all with birthdays in one week

Both kiddies were fine, but heavy shopping plus pushchar plus sling was draining as it was pretty hot here!
OH's bday tomorrow, and to be honest I'm still in a piss with him. Keep wondering if I'm being hormonal, but I've decided he's beng annoying enough that I'd still be in a piss wthout hormones! :haha: Well, seems rational to me!! :dohh: anyway, gong to do bangers n mash with beers tonight then make a cake and wrap presents! Thankfully his friend who couldn't make it had become free so he's out tomorrow night  much better than him mopping about telling me he never has any fun! :haha:

Had a full on sobbing mushy moment earlier was lying down feedng F and she'd dozed off in that cute way they hve so was just watching her sleep and listening to Songbird by Fleetwoo Mac and started bawling!! :). Quite like those heartbursting over emotional moments, they are good for the soul ;)

Got Z weighed today and he's back to his birth weight :happydance: he's got a rash though on his chest and back which midwife thinks might be heat rash so I'm hoping it goes down, if not a trip to the GP is in order. I cheekily questioned if it could have been caused by the 4 hour cuddle by mil this morning ( as he "only sleeps when being rocked") odd then how when mil popped out with DH I fed, sat with him for 10 mins then got him to sleep in his basket for an hour?

Could have got signed off but she offered to come again next week so I've said yes. I actually quite like her and it will give me something to do next week when DH is back at work  HV then popped a letter thru the door saying she'll be here tomorrow.

Mil bought Z a pair of shoes today and more vests. Clearly my snap about not buying stuff went in one ear and out the other then!

Ft - my feeds take forever. Worse at night. I am so jealous of mitch's amazing schedule!

Bad mummy alert- was so busy typing this response I failed to spot that Zack had been sick all over my shoulder and the glider chair, oops! He was clearly making some room as now he's back on and slurping away.

Awww emera. I had to stop OH puttibg on emotional music as i kept crying so much. One day i walked in to the living room to see him dancing with T and singing "beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boooooy." how can you not cry at that?

Keira has just the very same knack for knowing when it is time for mommy to eat! lol

they just have that knack missey! i have eaten lots of dinners now with R latched on. I have taken to covering him with a muslin like a giant napkin to stop me dropping bits of my dinner on him! lol.

the only chance i get to come on here is when he is feeding

emera - sounds like hard work in town! and your logic about hubby and hormones makes total sense.

Ah yes babies and all young children are programmed to a deep instinctual level to wake up and scream the second they hear cutlery chink on a plate! All food that you can eat hot/cold/luke warm with one hand is perfect now! Just enjoy having them on your lap/boob, when they ge a bit bigger they do the same thing, and then they bloody steal your whole meal to top it off! :dohh: :haha:

oooh now emera...i don't like sharing my food. in fact i'm rather like a grouchy dog guarding his dinner when DH wants to share. Will motherly love stretch to food too??? Wow. Unfathomable depths.

And yes, emera...every time I think wow this is hard work I remember that there is only one (WT - hero.) and there isn't a little toddler sibling demanding attention (and food?!) too... hats off to you for your town trip. My days are a lot less productive.

Somehow me and DH have just had our first dinner together, hot, with knives and forks, at a table whilst N asleep. Its taken over 3 weeks. Score.

Lozza - good news on Z being back to birthweight. That is no mean feat when BFing is it so congrats!!! Hope he learns to suck quicker/more efficiently so you can get some rest. :hugs: and I love the fact you've developed a way round eating/feeding and dropping food on him. x
