i combi feed (i give one bottle at nighttime of formula - sometimes a small one at lunch too) and i use the big tin of cow&gate... the hungry baby one.... ive not used the cartons before but imagine they will work out expensive if using everyday?

Thanks ft. How long does a tin last? And how long can you keep it once it's been opened? And how many ozs/mls does G take? Sorry for all the q's!

I combi too.

E has on average 3 7oz.bottles mid morn, lunch, early evening.
I feed her morn and night myself, she generally takes.around 6oz more sometimes.
I think we are about 1 tin per week - havent take much notice though. A tin can be used for 4weeks

sambles, i also combi-feed although a bit mroe than FT as R is ff during working day hours.

i have bought a tin of cow and gate (the ordinary infant milk one) as the cartons are quite expensive. he has roughly (it changes every day) 6oz in morn, 6oz in afternoon and poss something extra last afternoon but as he is bf in early evening i usually try and stretch him out!

i think the formula tin says you can keep it open for 3 weeks but im planning on just keeping mine open until used up.

a tip i read online was to buy Hipp orgnanic milk because inside is 2 large foil bags rather than the milk being all open at once that way you can use one bag and then other.

Thanks for all the info ladies, that's a great help. We are probably going to start next week. I still plan on bf as well but for lots of reasons we think it's best to introduce a bit of formula

I've given Z the occasional carton of formula, so not combi feeding, just using occasionally. I'm using the hipp organic hungry baby ones, they're 61p for 200ml. I've no idea how that compares to powder but for the ease and occasional use I'm happy to pay that.

SAMBLES - ooops i didnt know once opened that formula has a limit ours prob lasts about 4 weeks as he only has one bottle (about 7oz) at night. oops. oh well... seems to be fine TBH i will prob just use it till used up

Cuppie - i laughed and said ''well youve just made my day, as im pretty certain he's my son!'' she went red and just said ''oh lovely, well motherhood suits you dear''...... hahaha i love that people still say ''dear''. My mum says it to me too... but thats when she is being patronising...

Im super hungry today lads. Like, i could just eat and eat..... GAH. so hard to stay good when this hungry.

E has had two green poos today. In the morning it had black smears through it . Phoned hv who said if not unwell just to keep eye on it
Another jist now, green but absouly foul smelling. Im slightly worried, ive not chane either of our diets

I'm having pizza express tonight! Leaving Z with DH to put to bed. Fortunately I can pretty much see pizza express from my window so can nip home if it's a real distaster. I've already had today 2 slices of toast, a hash brown & Danish pastry, 3 samosas, a cheese sandwich, a big bag of Rowntrees Randoms and a few grapes. Oops.

Gave Z a stick of cucumber to suck on, he seemed to like it and there's a little bit missing! Weaning talk tomorrow so I'm not actually starting til 6 months and I didn't let him hold it.i think until he can sit up it doesn't look very safe! I think baby led weaning will be fun though!

Just been to a free baby sensory class as a taster to the£70 course. Glad I went, don't think it's for us as Z more interested in flipping over and staring at people than lying on his back watching me! At least testing it saved me £70!

lozza - thats interesting.... so can we let our babies suck on cucumber/banana etc even if not weaning for a while...... in my case another month.... as it sounds fun and i want to know if he'll enjoy it

Sambles....when i first started combi feeding up until 2-3 bottles a day i used readymade as i was scared of not making up powder correctly...it works out about 1/3 more pricey than powder. I have now switched to powder totally...cow and gate normal....and M actually prefers. Find it less rich than readymade. I get through a carton a week....4 x 7-8oz feeds. Then is approx 200 scoops in a carton.....1 scoop per oz of formula...so.you can easy work out. Its ok for 4 weeks opened x

for dinner i have just eaten a breaded fish fillet thingy, homemade chips (delicious!) and peas. just wondering what to have for pudding...

vitfa, no idea on the black smears although i don't think green poops is a major problem.

nic - the people selling the house we lost accepted the first offer we made and it was below the askign price. if you are in a good position then you never know! fingers crossed!

im still waiting to hear back re my offer made on monday, the guy selling it is elderly and in a retirement flat and the agent thought it would be better to put it in writing so he could properly explain our situation and give the seller time to mull it over. fingers crossed for us too!

i got a cool weaning pack through the post from hipp organic, free pouch, sachet of porridge and a spoon! def worth being a member of their baby club if you are not already!

Good afternoon, loves.

All this food talk is giving me flashbacks to our glorious days of pregnant eating. Sigh.

What I've had today: Lowfat granola bar, banana and skim milk for breakfast; lowfat yogurt and a bowl of popcorn with no butter for lunch (I was too busy to fix a proper lunch); and we're having turkey burgers (no cheese) and salad for dinner. Boring.

What I wish I had today: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza

Today, the twins' daycare held parent-teacher conferences, which is a pretty funny concept for babies. They are both doing well and falling within normal ranges for 6 month olds -- hitting lots of targets and falling shy of a few. Their teachers also showed me some cute pics, and I managed to convince them to give me a couple. (I posted 2 on FB.) My boys are both so stinkin cute my heart melts every time I see them. But have you ever seen two more dissimilar twins? They barely look like brothers.

Can any of you 'experienced' (i.e. Been there and done this before) mums tell me how long the screaming/ crying hands in mouth in pain teething stage goes on for??? It's definitely been over 2 weeks and her gums are hard/ sore looking and constant stream of dribble. I feel so sorry for her - she shrieks in pain and cannot be consoled at all when in an episode.

I feel exhausted, but more so I totally hate seeing my normally placid baby so distraught. I've tried Teether powders; bongela; Ashtons and Parsons powders; cold flannels and teethers and our last resort of calpol

OH finally got her to sleep...and just poured us both a glass of wine, phew!!!!

Gah. I SO want to reply to everyone, but I have to post this.

A Rant About My F**king Mother In Law (to be)

I was looking at Al's text messages today which are mostly written in Welsh, and I noticed my name a few times. When he came in I asked him what they said and he got all uncomfortable.

He said that after several failed attempts of sending a picture message of Dharma to his mother yesterday, he told her that he wasn't going to try again as he didn't want a massive phone bill. His mother asked if I was keeping money from him and not giving him enough to live on!

Every month I put my entire wages into our joint account to which we both have cards for. I have never ONCE made him feel like it is 'my money', and aware that he is a student at the moment I let him do all the 'paying' when we are out as to not emasculate him. I could be described as being nothing short of generous and it makes me furious that she would suggest otherwise.

I asked what else had been said in the past as she obviously has a negative opinion of me, and he grudgingly said that she has accused me of being bossy (fair point, I can be), controlling (never), the boss of Al, and I forced him into moving up North as I 'trapped' him when I got pregnant.

What the f**k?!?!?!?!?!?

It was completely a joint decision to move, and where as I know I am more out spoken than Al, I could never (or would want to) control him!!

I decided to text her. I told her that I would never let Al go without, that I had heard what she had said about me and I found it both unhelpful and upsetting. She replied that she didn't know what to say.

I am furious. Beyond belief.
