March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Thanks ladies - think i will feed before leaving and then in the car too... and then make sure i have a big scarf on me 'a la emera' too :hugs: and thanks for shop tips looley :hugs:

looley - thanks hun, it was the best AND the worst day of my life at different times. I told the MW that when im next pregnant i will be elective c-section and she said she understands why. so as long as i keep that in the back of my mind for comfort... im ok.I couldnt put another baby through that  :nope:

emera - i totally remember about your friend, thats frikkin amazing!!! twins :cloud9: so happy for her  wow! :hugs:

ps. ladies, let me know if ive got any dates wrong on page 1 - i tried to keep up :hugs:

FT - i too time going out around feeds. basically whilst im feeding hubby gets everything ready (pram, bag etc) then as soon as he is done we get in the car and go. this gives us a decent time out.

The other day we were out and i could see him wanting to feed, i was getting nearly as impatient as the baby whilst waiting to pay for stuff. I fed him in the car and it felt pretty private. I have aslo fed in a cafe but i sat in an area where there was no other customers. i was too shy in the main cafe area.

i thick scarf/pashmina sounds like a good idea!

congrats to your friend emera!

Yeah strategic seating in cafes is a mummy skill! I always look for a seat facing in towards a wall or something then you have minimum exposure.
I would add I do try to do the feed and go tactic but with a toddler sometimes its easier to feed a baby than wait and have to go out with a tired toddler, they shout much louder and are prone to un-solvable meltdowns, so newborns are easier to fix :haha:

I've too been going out around feeds but think I'll have to face my fear soon. I'm not overly comfortable in my own skin which makes things harder. I always thought I would express for when we are out, so that could still be an option for once my milk regulates.

FT - I'm defo an A feeder - I'm too independent not to be! :D

So we did 10pm, 11:30 pm, 1am, 3 am, 4:30 am, 6:55 am (at which point I discovered OH had turned off his alarm and fell asleep on the couch - brilliant) and 9:20 am. Weird night for us...

I’m catching up ladies….
Glow I just read your birth story, I was in hysterics about your in laws arriving mid push!!!!!!!
Congratulations citymouse can’t wait to hear details!
Mscrow - Seth has been so grouchy and grumpy at night
He went 6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes 6 days without a poo! And has been so grizzly and windy at night. I’ve tried infacol and gripe water which have helped. Hv said it’s not classed as constipation as bf babies can go up to 12 days without pooing!!Hv told me to give him 1oz of cooled boiled water am and pm to get him going. He hasn’t been since Monday night now and Mon,Ttues have been great nights but no doubt from Thursday (day 4) onwards he will be fed up again.

I’ve been expressing with my Medela swing ready to go out this weekend. Only going for a meal with some girlfriends for a few hours as didn’t do anything for my birthday when I was pregnant. Hubbie gave Seth a bottle of expressed milk last night, he took it but it took ages!!! This will be the first time I’ve left him for someone else to feed him :sad2:

I just fed in public for the first time!. Went to my friends house and fed there thinking id be ok to meet oh in a cafe .got to cafe T had pooed so had to change him, then he still wouldn't settle so i fed him! Fully visible and then people i knew walked in. Was actually ok really.think I'll be ok now... I did feel a bit cringe but was fine once hewas on.

Bad nights sleep here... Up at 10, 1, (for 2hours ), 5 (and has just gone to sleep from that!). Might have a nap. X

right, ive remembered finally, what i was going to ask earlier.... ive been using disposable avent milk breast pads but am going to run out real soon.... thinking maybe reusable ones would be good... any views/opinions/recommendations ladies?

my sis is off home at 3pm and then got a pal popping in at 4:30 quickly... but then hubby is home at 6pm to begin 5 days together :happydance: cant wait... missed having him about :(

BTW we have heaps on tomo (lots of registrations etc) and then its easter long weekend - which as a devout catholic good girl ( :winkwink: ) i of course celebrate LOL - so may not get on here much.... but will again ffrom tuesday :)

Congratulations and welcome Vit and Looley!

Where has the day gone? Just sat down to catch up and Jess is awake and crying. Anyway. Anyone got any special plans for Easter with the families?

CONGRATS VITFA! Beautiful name too xxxxx

my easter plans are...... CHOOOOCOOOOLATE!!

FT, I work around feeds, but am willing to feed in public if necessary, but only with a nursing cover.
I have a clothing question for all the BF mamas. When you BF, what do you wear? I hate that I have to pull my tops up to feed and my belly is exposed. Any tips for me? I need something that covers my tummy, but isn't going to make BFing a big hassle.
Skadi, what store had a nursing room? I've never seen any in Canada...

Hi all....been out and about today and M just down in carrycot for a nap so thought i would check in

Emera...great news about your friend:happydance:

Ft...i havent bf in public yet...only in front of hubby and nct girls and their partners at one of their houses. I time outings around feeding but got caught on the hop in town the other day and happened to be in mothercare...they have feeding rooms...luckily M is a power feeder so can get away with a 5-10 min top up. I have been told john lewis and debenhams and the like have rooms...otherwise may head of to ladies toilets..not great but until i feel comfortable i wont just whip out. Scarf etc a good idea but i have to still make sure M latches and i like to watch it (otherwise milk spillage down myself:dohh:)....friend was wearing poncho today which seemed a great idea. Oh and re breast pads....i have bought asda own disposable ones...have also used boots ones. I havye some reusable someone bought me but i havent tried out.

Vitfa...congratulations:happydance:...looking forward to hearing the details when you are ready...and pics please x x

AFM....no other news here really..M is good and sleeping well...looking forward to the weekend when hubby is off work and the Masters is on:happydance:...love the golf!!!!! Oooh and must getvout to get hubby an easter egg tomorrow....should have bought the peanut m and m at the weekend when i saw it but my mum was with me and stressing me out. Oh one other thing....anyone using huggies???? They suck!!!!! Have a huge box which i am going to take bhack to asda to change for pampers...hope they exchange without receipt. Took Ms sleepsuit off this morning and the nappies simply feel off....rubbish...luckily only wee and no poop...that could have been a disaster

Love buggies and hate pampers! I think its all to do with the shape of your baby. A is a tubby one so I think that helps!

Crowned, amid the uk most department type shops have feeding rooms which you can go into although I didn't like the one in John Lewis as its off the nappy change area and was so noisy A wouldn't settle. I'm sure thats just me though.

I've bought some nursing tops from mamas and papas which are brilliant as they mean I don't have to expose my tummy or anything else really, just move a flap of material to one side. V descrete!

Mitch, I wrap a blanket around Davey for feeding and just extend it around my exposed back and belly if I'm in an awkward place, when th weather warms up I'll drape a light cotton sheet over my shoulder and again tuck into my trousers at the back around my exposed mid section (itms!) this way it keeps both him and me covered from the sun and glances.

VITFA- Congratulations! Gorgeous name too :hugs:

Missy- huzzah for bf in public!!!!

Mitch- pampers work better for us too. Huggies and Adsas own were bobbins. Hopefully D will be plump enough for size 1 in the next week or so. We have loads of that size in...and then 3 massive boxes of size 2!!!

D's been like a different baby again today. Sleep solidly between feeds. Fantastic. Amazing what a difference a day makes!!!

Got to go to b&q later to choose light fittings, and then carpet right tomorrow for bedroom carpets. The house is really coming along now! We chose what we thought was a buttery yellow for D's room but it's so bright it hurts my eyes!! Oops!
