March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Completely agree with you both. I just felt it wasn't the right time. He's back on it. No feeds in the day, morning and night feeds +\- a feed over night. I'm happy with that. X

No sadly no news just means even I'm bored of talking about it!! He did pull another 7 hour stretch on Saturday, so two in a week but the days in between have been garbage. Last night I fed him after 4.5 hours, put him down and he woke and cried. I really couldn't be bothered so switched the monitor off and went to bed. 14 mins later the screaming stopped and he was fast asleep! For 3 hours :dohh: but that proves some form of crying might work.

After this weekend, as we're at inlaws, if e wakes
Going to leave him and see what happens. Running out
Of
Time to crack it before going back to work.

Lozza, Roh was quite similar to Z in activity levels and he was rubbish at getting to sleep on his own, i fed him to sleep for 8 months, until a month before i went back to work. I was shocked how fast he went to sleep after leaving him to cry! I think with babies who are very active and struggle to wind down, crying seems to release some stress or something and helps them finally zonk out. That's how it appeared to me anyway. I only had to do about 10 nights where there was any crying at all with Roh (and the last 4 nights it was literally under a minute) and after that i could put him down, give him a kiss, tuck him in and say night night and then leave, and he'd just settle down! He still does now. :)
F is so different and leaving her to cry just meant 2+ hours of crying. Awful! Hopefully Z is getting to the stage where a bit of a push will get him to a place where, even if he doesn't sleep through, he can self settle, so when you do have to get up, it won't be for very long! :hugs:

Lozza :hugs: mate. Good that it was only 14minutes. Good that it worked (for a bit at least). Good that he's not become all sad from it like you were worried about. You've given him every chance at learning to sleep and been the most patient person I've ever known so any sleep training you do you know it is really necessary for everyone's sanity. I hope N is on board too (!) xxx

N has now come back into our bed and as predicted has learnt to skeep through the noise! Im thinking I'll give up the evening bf next week so I know he's full, or actually I might work on the night time wakings first, then progress to getting him to sleep himself at the Start of the night. It's so hard emotionally to give up! Watched a lady bf this afternoon and was a bit jealous that I don't get lovely snuggly bf any more, or when I do it's so dark I can't see his happy face! In which case I may as well start to give up! Hopefully we can hang into a morning one for a few more weeks (not that we currently have a morning one as we snack all night!)

Emera - hope you're right, the night before though it was half an hour (I went in adter 10 mins) of constant screaming before I gave up,

I really want to print this thread out so i can save it as a journal. But it would be so much effort.

Hha missy I know. It crossed my mind that we should each take a section, copy and paste into word and someone collate it all!

That would be a lot of work! I have tried to go back and remove pictures that I've posted. Even that was a huge task, and I'm still not sure whether I got them all.

Hmm, thought they were meant to cry less each time. Ok slim not being very consistent but after 25 mins of rubbing his back, 2 loud and painful sounding farts (is it normal that farting is so difficult? Like 5 mins of crying and tensing stomach muscles before each one?) I left him, gave up after 25 mins screaming. Gave calpol, tried rocking for another 25 mins and now I've given up and resorted to feeding (don't tell glow). This better work, id like to get to bed tonight

I like that this is the safe place to admit you're still feeding to sleep :haha: oh Lozza :( sad times. I think it's odd that it hurts him to trump. But I'm not sure what it means...and there will be a time when you won't want him to trump. I honestly don't know what Z problem is - could it be that he gets upset and cries and the force of it makes him trump rather than trumps making him sad? I dunno. What do the HV say?! Hope he did a big stint for you. Xx

The feeding didnt work so left him to cry again but fell asleep so I think he cried for an hour, oops. When I went in he was still stood up screaming, with freezing cold hands and a sopping wet face and Chest from tears poor thing! I brought him into bed with us fed him again and he fell asleep 2am at this point. Think he lasted til 5.30, then 7, then 8.45. Hoping for better tonight!!

Oh bless! Lozza, you must be sooo exhausted, something has got to give at some point! I wish i knew what the answer was, i'd not only tell you, but write an amazing magic book and get very rich! Just big :hugs: to you, i really hope Z turns a corner soon. The fact that he's started doing some longer stretches at least sometimes is encouraging, but i'm sure its cold comfort when you're up half the night. I have to admit, if i was as shattered as you must be, i'd probably be getting pretty hardcore with the sleep training by now, i just don't think i could hack it. Hats off to you mama, you're made of strong stuff! xx

Crikey. Lozza that's sad for you both hun! Was it Laura saying about a sleep consultant/HV thingy? Just wish he'd show some consistent improvement for you. How are daytime naps happening? Echo what Emera says, hats off Mama. We're not Sttn here either but one(ish) wake up is totally manageable compared to your nights :( big jugs mate xxx

Long post there Waula...

Anyway, new record.... (insert drumroll).... 8.5 hours!! I had to rub his back for 5 minutes after 4 hours but he barely stirred! Then cam in with us and slept to about 6 then sat up and watched DH leave at 7 to go rowing, lay back down and dozed snuggled up to me til 8! My heart sank when he looked at DH so I was so relieved when he went back to sleep. I hvent got up at 7 for a while.

He's been unusually cuddly all day which is most unlike him!

Hope everyone else is sleeping ok, Waula has N cracked the sttn again?

Lol at the long post, I put something about a specialist sleep person my friend went to that seemed to help but then spoke to her last night and she poo poo'd it saying it was a waste of money and suddenly at 12m her LO just started Sttn (it was millpond) so tried to delete the post and couldn't...log story...short post...
I think Lozza you need to keep threatening on here with the sleep training!!! 8.5hrs is awesome! Are you with the inlaws? Anything different or is it truly random? Lovely to have some cuddles too.
N reliably wakes up for one feed overnight, usually about 11pm then goes through til 7.30 so not complaining. He slept through on/off for a good few weeks before Christmas but only once since. Can't really decide if/what to do about it...he feeds properly for 10mins then sleeps through. I've tried to double boob before bed (he voms), tried not to feed (screammmmmmy and really unsettled for the rest of the night). HV says he'll just stop and grow out of it. I'm happy to do that. When I'm out on call he'll have to have a bottle so that might discourage it!
Got my 90yr old gran staying for a week. She's so old and tired and yet completely with it. Been reminiscing about her childhood an her having babies - so interesting how different things are. And I'm not sure it's all for the better...

Think it was a complete fluke! We've travelled to inlaws today, so far I've not even got him yo sleep yet! He was shattered by 6 but when I finished feeding although he was really drowsy he spotted the curtain and light coming thru and eyes pinged open. That was over 2 hours ago! Trying again now and hoping he's then had a decent feed and should sleep. Interestingly yesterday I didn't give him any yoghurt... Then 8.5 hours. I'm going to start a food/nap/sleep diary.

To be honest when I add it up I'm getting 7 hours of sleep a night most nights which is loads really. It's just interupted but I got used to that weeing while pregnant!! Might be more
Knackering when I'm back at work

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! X
