March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

woo hooooo! not that I've contributed much to that! hate not having time to acknowledge everyone's posts properly. sure once oh back to work and I'm on my own and better routine will be able to keep up better xxx

Hello, lads... So someone tell me it's normal that G wants to feed from 11 pm-3 am?

I have no idea what her deal is. Also have no idea where she will actually sleep. Or when!

All I can say is, the next time DH makes me feel bad for not making phone calls during the day, I'm going to remind him that he's the one getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

At least the dog came out to keep me company.

Oh, and my nursing pillow is giving me a rash.

And for the first time ever, someone offered me extra help at the store because I'm expecting. :dohh:

Wooop to first 1000 posts:happydance:

Regards routine....not really here as shes not even 3 weeks yet going to try and atart sonethibg around bath, feed bed etc at 4 weeks. Feedibg wise still on demand...after a couple of 4-5 hour stretches at night we seem to have settled (welk last 3 nights ha ha) into 3-3.5hours between feeds at night...down around 10:30-11pm...feed around 2am then 5-5:30 so not too bad really :).....i can cope with that. Tend to.change her halfway through 2am feed to try to extend how much she takes....even so she is up fed changed and back.down in about 15-20mins.

Changing....we are still using cotton wool and warm water and no creams yet...no rashes so.seems to work for us. Have loads of wipes so will start using at 4 weeks ish...they are alk fragrance free etc. We always have a towel or muslin down to keep her a little warm......loo she used to scream like crazy during changes but has calmed down alot...depends really. We have an over the cot changer so sometimes set off the musical mobile to distract her...if she looks like shes goibg to.whinge.

She was up an hour after last feed this morning really grizzly...hubby got up with her cos she obviously didnt need feeding. Think.it was wind...he managed to get a big burp and by massaging her belly some farts too....ha ha explosive poonami this morning too ha ha...she looks so intense when shes trying to go bless xo

I'd love some sort of routine here with F but I accept it won't happen yet. She has become unputdownable since 24 hours ago (when OH went back to work) she's calm MOST the time if I hold her or have her in the sling but if I put her down she instantly screams even if she was asleep. Its quie stressful listening to her scream knowing holding her would stop it, butt some stuff I just can't hold her for, like changing and dressing Roh as he kicks me plus I feel awful as I still can't give Roh much attention. If she'd just sleep for 30 mins a few times a day in her basket I'd be happy! Phew, sure it will get better in time though!

Really hope everyone is well! :hugs: lovely mamas! Xxx

Eesh. Asdas on Easter weekend is not pretty!!

Just realised that my friend from Wales said she was visiting today. Had no text though  tbh, I'd be quite happy without visitors today, so won't be too upset if she doesn't come. I hope that doesn't sound bad.

Asdas said they can't sell gripe water anymore because of something to do with contamination, and the homeopathic colic remedy vitfa suggested was not on the shelf so got another bottle of infacol. Waula, I know you use it too, but are you using it at every feed, or just when Noah needs it? I've taken to using it regardless, but feel bad just in case she doesn't actually need it? the alternative could be the crying/screaming though...

Loo infacol needs to be used with each feed as it needs to build up to be effective. It won't do much for between 24-72 hours of firtst use.

Loo i'm using infacol every feed...makes him do very impressive single burps when i sit him up...he still gets wind in the evenings but feeding + dummy seems to work... he's not colicky but gurgly and i think he's much better burping when i use it...

brave doing asda on easter sat!!!!

emera - you're doing a fab job hun...hope F settles a bit better today xxx

mitch - fed, changed and bak down in 15-20mins? M is such an angel!!!! N taking more milk now - feeding for 30mins so normally back down in 45-60mins depending on wind/burp/nappy...

xxx

Mitch we have a cot top changer too and we put the mobile on for a bit of light entertainment whilst he's being changed. He really likes it actually :haha:

Loo - Think Waula and Emera know more than me about Infacol etc but all I would say is if it is WORKING for D and stopping her from screaming and giving you some peace then keep doing what you are doing :winkwink:

We are aro9und 3-3 1/2 hours between feeds and it takes about 40-60 minutes to feed wind change etc. I started off changing him first but he tends to poo half way through feed so change half way through, this also spurs him on to finish rest of his feed as he has a habit of going comatose half way through

for anyone with a baby with belly ache please try this!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1kQ-7gREcM N been fussing for 30mins so did it and he immediately started trumping!!!!!!!!! ps i kept his clothes on and obv didn't use oil!!!!

Thanks for that waula....M was really uncomfy this morning.....dont think it was colic as such but certainly some trapped wind so will definately try this at changing time during the day. I tend to rub a little olive oil on her anyway once a day so adding this would be good.....her belly feels really hard (health visitor said its normal...and she seems ok). Cant hurt

I have ony used infacol as a one off a couple of times and although M isnt windy i might start introducing more regularly espec if i am going to start introducing the odd expressed bottle feed.. i agree Loo...is it works for D ....it is natural stuff, not chemical...carry on:happydance:

Waula...i do worry that M is so quick at feeding...she just seems to latch on great and chug down what she needs within 10-15 mins...sometimes we have longer in the evening....perhaps the odd 25 minute feed. But she is gaining weight really well...goes for long enough between feeds (although longer at night would be great) and doesnt get TOO windy so i think its ok.

Oh and the'new' winding technique i mentioned earlier in thread is really working for M..she doesnt have much wind but what she does has comes up much quicker:thumbup:

Just having me some hot cross buns......toasted with lashings of butter (there hasnt been enough food chat on here recently:winkwink:)

afternoon lads,

see you have been talking about changing - we have a mat on top of a chest of drawers which is the perfect height. I use huggies wipes and then a bit of baby powder to dry him off. I know people say not to use wipes or powder but it works for us and no rashes or reactions here. As soon as i run out of the free wipes i will be moving onto reuseable cheeky wipes.

back in a mo - baby needs burping

hot cross buns sounds delish

i have some questions but will have to save them for later as im in demand by the baby

DH reading "burglar bill" to N - I'm in the kitchen weeping!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cloud9: so sweet!!!! silly hormones!!!!

Vitfa - no routine at all here and we're 2 weeks old today! He does seem to be awake in the morning then asleep over lunchtime whic seems to have happened since about a week old but the rest of the day/night is completely random.

I'm guessing your milks probably come in the last couple of days too, that's when we went through a bit of a difficult latch period cos boobs were so large and solid, I used to massage/ hand express a tiny bit off first to soften them which made latching and stating on easier x

Thanks lozza my milk came in day 4/5 although boobs dont feel large been express and massagit so reassureing to know we arent the only ones on constant demand. it feelmore like she is falling off

just off phone to midwife . little e has a rash alll overover body we think baby oil we used once 4dry skin
mitch i missed the wind technique

I missed the wind technique too Mitch, can you put it on again for me?

Waula, will defo be trying that massage technique. Sounds like just the job! Thanks! xx

My friend is over from Wales for a couple of hours and I am stuck feeding in my room as my stupid hang ups won't let me feed in front of people. I've seriously got to sort this out.

I am definately trying the colic massage from waula.

Vitfa and loo..the winding technique told to me by my antenatal.friend (shes a neonatal nurse and mum of twins)...involves the sitting the baby and tipping forward and patting the back....BUT instead you lift the baby from under the arms into a more upright sitting/standing position to really stretch the abdomen up thd way....slowly sit back down and trying to.keep the belly extended whilst leaning her forward to pat the back. Before i was just taking her off the boob, sitting her and tipping forward and she seemed to slouch but now i lift to stretch belly as much as possible before going forward...gets the burps out alot quicker. M not a fan of up over shoulder burping but sometimes resort to this one. Havent tried the lying face down across belly manuover yet...anyone else?

Just had a nap for 2 hours in bed after leaving hubby with a bottle.of.expressed milk...big success....i feel great and hubby feels proud to.have fed :cloud9:. She gets more wind but nothing more serious....we are introducing one bottle a day at least to work up to me going out for.dinner next friday with the girls. Might need 2-3 bottle.depending on how.much i drink wine wise :happydance:

Just having a small glass of red....M loves it for later :haha: (dont judge me )
