March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Thanks, all. At just 1 am I've already gotten more sleep than I got last night... And she was in her bassinet! I can tell this arrangement is going to be harder on DH. But omg heavenly.

Saw our real pediatrician today. She gave us very clear instructions: feed for 30 minutes total, then pump for ten. Give G anything I pump up to three ounces right away, store the rest (right now I'm at about 1 ounce... Started fenugreek today). No pumping at night, just feeding.

It means I'm not feeding forever and ever and G gets whatever milk I have left without expending so many calories to get it.

My supply seems to be a little low. I think being so tired has affected it. Plus I'm never hungry. Nothing sounds good. :/

But I feel hopeful after tonight... That at least change is possible.

Thanks everyone..

M fell asleep on me but woke as soon as moved to carrycot....grrrrr....really need to shower. First surestart parent and baby class this morning....MW be there too. I know M is fighting sleep...i cansee she is dead tired. Regards wind...i try my best but she doesnt seem to have any...or very little.

Waula...M does the face and stressiness and gurgly guta when she is trying to poop...but at the momsnt nothing coming out...it would make life alot easier if she did. Wonder why problems going? Or maybe itis normal to build up to a big poonami:shrug:

Well at the moment i am stuck on sofa with minging hair and in need of a shower and looking like i am going nowhere :nope::cry:

I must add that she did sleep ok ish....down at 11....fed at 2.30 and 5:30....so a shift earlier that i could do without

Woooop...she may have dropped off...where are those crunchy nut cornflakes mmmmm

Another horrid night for us 1 hour sleep, e has feed constant from 9pm and cried the rest -please let the day be better

Vitfa:hugs:...hope your day gets better and get a nap when you can:flower:

Anyone else wait wait wait for baby to settle down so you can eat, get a shower, empty dryer, put washing on, empty dishwasher etc etc ......but then cant be bothered to get butt off sofa ....give me some energy god!!!

I just want to give you all a massive :hugs::hugs:

It's been a long time since I breast fed...but I did it successfully 2nd time around....not so much the first, only lasted 6 weeks. I def think getting them to take a soother might help some of you. I noticed the closer to nature ones have a really small teat for those that are gagging on them. I was in similar situation with DD2 and it resolved once she would self soothe herself with soother otherwise I couldn't put her down which would have drove me round the bend :wacko:

This is first time I've FF from birth and I'm loving it. We don't have any problem winding and J is the most contented baby I've had out of all 3! not sure if it's a coincidence or he's just super chilled  My Sister said yesterday it's like he's been on the wacky baccy he's so chilled out

We still seem to have an awake period middle of the night that can last 2 hours but it never involves crying, just him being nosy and wanting interaction....wish he'd do that a bit earlier though rather than 4am! :haha:

Yep! :haha: but with 2 teens here it's chaos everyday  I am spending most of the day tidying up after them, washing up, doing laundry, and being forced to watch crap TV  The minute I leave the room to do something I have one of them saying 'Mum.....J is moving'....'Mum.....J is opening his eyes'.....'Mum................' Grrrrrrrr it's driving me insane!!

Has anyone used a Grobag yet? Z likes his arms free so tends to knock blankets down past his chest and then gets a bit chilly. I had the bright idea this morning that maybe a Grobag would help? I need to check the minimum weights of the ones I've got but had a feeling 8lb was the minimum?

Vitfa - massive :hugs: I wish I could offer some advice that would help, really sorry I can't. Have you spoken to your midwife?

Thanks for the cord info ladies :hugs:

rashy - i think i would give up breastfeeding pretty quickly if couldnt feed digs in bed lol. Im lucky that DH sleeps through it i guess  hope you sort something out thats a happy medium :hugs:

cupcake - enjoy your NCT meet... dont be nervous! x

missy - that cot looks perfect to me hun xxx

loo - i dont use the nursery chaise atm, as always feed in bed or in living room.... BUT i think its handy when have guests and when they are a little older. So i would say it warrants it if you can find one for a good price.... but for me im glad i didnt splach out on an expensive glider xxx

kymied - does elliot get really restless in the evenings too? digs is great ALL day (and night time) - but in the evenings he is soooo grizzly. Last niht was awful. feel bad for DH as thats when he wants to spend time with digs :nope:

mitch - george did that last night... on the boob the whole time NOT really feeding... and he had no wind... i think he was using me as a pacifier as i dont use a dummy :nope: infact, last night i REALLY considered whipping out the dummy. if he keeps using my boob comfort then i may consider it properly.

lozza - ive not used a grobag yet and cant remember the weight...so im not much help! i had 10lb as the figure in my head though.... but ur prob right with 8lb. It may say on their website?

so as i said to kymied, digs is fine all day - and great at night time - but a little MONSTER in the evenings. I feel so bad for DH as this is his time with him. We put him in the tummy tub before bedtime last night and this calmed him down.... but i can hardly put him in it all evening :haha: anyway.... sounds like we all had bad nights.... lets hope tonight is better.

Health visitor is coming for second visit at 2pm..... hope she doesnt stay long

Vitfa, :hugs: that is so hard and I completely feel your pain.

Mitch, I never seem to find time for anything. Can't wait until G hits eight pounds and I can wear her in the wrap.

We don't use grobags but I prefer her to sleep in gowns and then we use swaddle suits. They're amazing. She really likes it. Though atm she's feeding in a fluffy blanket because she peed herself and her bed. :dohh:

Was awesome, when I went back to bed before I asked DH to soothe her to sleep as I'd been up almost two hours for the feed. So he sat up and I zonked out. Miracle!

thank you

we are discharged from midwife have HV in today.

Breastfeeding advisor has advised co sleeping which i dont want to do at night - its fine for naps but im beyond tired at night i forget half of it

she fed so well yesterday and slept but nghtmare through night

xx

Ft...exactly the same for me. M an angel (well not quite but you know what i mean) during day and nights but a little mare in the evenings when hubby is around (no connection.i am sure) but feel bad for him! She is just generally grizzly from about 6:30-7 til about 10 ish with period of sleep and play but ladt 2 nights mostly attached to.boob!!! :-(.

Also i think she is using me to.comfort suck....she is a quick feeder and shouldnt need that long on.breast....i need to.look for different dummies....closer to nature not liked...hink teat is too long. Going to.try mams or avent. Popping out later when M fed next

Mouse...i hear you on.the carrier/slibg....M was 7lb 8.5 on last weigh in 7 days ago.and based on.previous weight gain she is probably over 8 now. I dont have another scheduled weigh in til 6 weeks but can take her into our local surestart on every other Monday for weigh in.

Just been to surestart...they have a new mums and under ones session....was a little later..had to.change and feed M who was finally out for the count. Nice bunch...didnt have to bf there (although some were) and they couldnt believe i.was out and about already after only 3 1/2 weeks...many of them said they didmt leave the house in 6 weks..feel pretty good about myself and M now :)

Mitch - i have a closer to nature dummy and i think they are for older babies as the teat LOOKS real long? so if we do use one will prob need to buy another. my DH said there are diff sizes of dummies, some for neborns etc... i didnt even know that :haha:

also - i forgot to say that last night i expressed 100ml of milk into a tommee tippee closer to nature bottle (all my bottle feeding friends recommended them) so that DH oculd do the 11pm/midnight feed... anyway it didnt work out. digs seemed to be sucking too hard ... or something.... it felt like he was taking too much milk at once and coughing so we stopped..... anyone else had this?

or has expressing worked first time for everyone?

obviously i NEEEEED to express at some point to be able to go out!!!

Mitch try cherry teat dummies they might suit. F seems to like avent best even though they look pretty big

Sorry to all of you having tough times. 3-6 weeks can be tough as babies start "waking" up. As there is a lot of new stimuli they can cry a lot. Also their guts keep maturing and so internal wind can make them really grumpy! Also remember the sleep deprivation is cumulative so we are all more and more tired! It does get easier lads, promise!(Well until they turn into teenagers anyway! :haha:)
:hugs:

Poor little Mr. snuffles. He gets all snuffly and angry whenever I put him on his back.

But he slept pretty well last night until he didn't wake up when his diaper was full and leaked on his sleeper, blanket, sheets etc. I think we're going to have to use two liners in his diapers for nighttime. I'm just hesitant to do that because he's still so small in the diapers.

He had one less feed last night and I woke up to milk trickling down my neck. Righty sure doesn't like missed feeds.

I still cannot feel let down. Anyone else not feeling it?

FT - yeah he's fine all day, spends most of it sleeping on me in the sling or interacting with me. Then in the evening he gets fussy and isn't happy with anything. I think he's just over stimulated, but it's making hubby depressed since he's back at work now and thinks the kiddo hates him.

OK, I'm going to try and nap before E's dr. appt.

EDIT: That nap isn't going to happen, Mr. Snufflenose sounds like a donkey, it's even bugging the dogs.

Mitch I haven't done anything in days. Even with Elliott in the sling and the ability to be mobile I've been putting off laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. etc. But laundry MUST be done, I'm out of clean underwear.

Ft..we have fed expressed milk a couple of times but she always seems to want topping up on breast soon after which defeats object!! Are you using the smallest yeat...we used avent size ones...seem to suit her. Also first time hubby wasnt pushibg far enough into mouth an guess he was worried about pushing to far...

No other advice sorry

question ladies...has the number of poops slowed yet? M not producing as much but straining alot with hard belly no output and loads of crying...normal? I know waula mwntioned grizzly poo face but did N actually get one out? Wonder if i need to call hv??!!

And she literally just pooped ha ha... Still question stands though

kymied...M gets nasally too...you tried saline drops or spray...helps her and ok from birth

I've had a breakthrough! Keira has been a little demon all week, especially at night. (Not settling until 5 am when both her and I are just exhausted!) I've had no sleep all week since Saturday night so my sister came over last night to help OH out while I had a nap. She was just having her sleep in her arms (which is the only place she has been settling all week) while I slept. I heard OH bring Keira in the room and put her down in her cradle and turn on her sleep sheep. Sure enough she started screaming about 5 minutes later although it was out of hunger so I fed her and put her down asleep. She started screaming again so I tried just calming her down while she was in her cradle. Then the sleep sheep turned off and almost immediately she stopped her screaming and fell asleep! So I took that to mean she hates her sleep sheep! lol

I got an amazing sleep last night - back to our every 3 hr schedule. She is settling perfectly to bed and everything. My little angel is back! I feel so stupid for not figuring it out sooner!

Anyway ((hugs)) to all the ladies dealing with grumpy babies!

Mitch - Keira's poops started to settle down just last week from medium to large poops every diaper change (3 hrs) to 2 - 3 big ones a day with the rest being just diaper smears. (Also no more screaming when she has to poo) (She is almost 3 weeks adjusted now). Have you tried helping the poo along with cycling her legs? My sisters friend who is a NICU nurse also told us to hold her in across your belly similar to how you can breastfeed that way and tap the side of her belly repeatedly. When I do that with Keira she starts trumping pretty quickly. I guess it helps to move things along too. I know Emera posted a whole bunch of other ways to get it to move along too... if none has worked and its been a few changes |(I'd say 3 changes) with nothing then I would call at that point.

We have her growth and development appointment today, I am really interested to see what they make of her!

Not great day either. B awake from 10 till 1.30 crying. I think he's also getting upset when hasn't been able to poo did colic massage then 15 mins later, massive poo explosion. B doesn't ever produce sick, D did but was still fussy. Their poor guts are so sensitive. I keep thinking, by four months with D there was a massive change (for the better) but that does seem so far off.

Just bought infavol to see if that works. had twice already and actually burped which hasn't been happening with him so fingers crossed helps, even a little.

Also b gagged a lot on agent, seems to like mam.better although does like to spit out.... Please be keen on the dummy baby b.

mitch - thanks hun, will check teat sizes. i have some avent bottles too i can try xxx im no help on poos as im behind you and he is still going as he was last week... sorry hun :hugs:

skadi - BURN THE SLEEP SHEEP  :hugs:

widger - hope it works for you hunni :hugs:
