March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Emera - didn't need to hear 3-6 weeks is the tough point, I'm not at 3 weeks yet!!!!!

Ft - I haven't tried expressing, sounds if he's coughing like he could be getting the milk too quickly? They're supposed to need to work harder to get breast milk so maybe he's sucking hard and it's coming too easily out the bottle? Are there some teats that have fewer holes? Not really sure as I've not looked into it.

Kym, don't think I feel the let down either

We get loads of poo filled nappies a day, midwife said he's drinking more than he needs hence the excess waste.

Managed to leave the house and meet friends for a drink this afternoon and Z slept thru the whole thing, result! Slightly chaotic getting out, we both left the house with sick on us and pretty sure he had a dirty nappy too but hey, we made it out! I made him feed just before I left and delatched him when I had to leave the house. Thought it might last me the ten min walk but it lasted 2.5hrs so shows he doesn't need to take as long feeding as he does!

Blimey FT that is a great weight gain, he's now the same as Z who started at 9.1! I thought that was a good gain but maybe not!

yer.... maybe a bit TOO great.... maybe i shud conisder that dummy... :haha:

lozza :haha: at the sick on you both... but glad u enjoyed it :hugs:

I just listened to the song that came on as G took his first breath in theatre... makes me cry every time. I hope it never comes on in public or else i will make a prat of myself

oh and lozza, Zs weight gain isssss great...... digs is just a piggy.

Hi ladies!
I've been reading but haven't had a chance to post in a few days.
My grandfather passed away on Tuesday. he had cancer and thankfully had no pain but his kidneys and liver had shut down. I'm so glad he got to meet Eve.

I have to express for the calling hours and funeral Friday and Saturday... When is best timing wise with still doing regular feeds?

Kym- I do not feel let down either- similar problem with sleeping too long and waking up wet.

Ft- amazing weight gain, we haven't had a weight check since 1 week so I'm excited to go to her appt next week just to see how much she's gained.

:hugs: to everyone

I'm sorry about your Grandfather passing Kk, but glad he got to meet your Eve! My grandfather passed on 11 years ago (I can't believe its been that long already!) from septicemia at the age of 73. I miss him so much, and I still get upset thinking about it, and more so now knowing how much he would have loved spoiling Keira as much as he did us kids.

Edit: kk - I usually express directly after a feed, but you might find you can express more an hour after a feed. You will also be able to express more between 1 and 4 am since that is when your supply is naturally higher.. I would just be careful with it though since your supply probably? hasn't settled down yet and you could risk oversupply.

KKL :hugs: Sorry to hear about your grandad. No advice on expressing I'm afraid but sure lots of the others can help x

Kk - im so sorry hunni :hugs: i hope someone can help u with expressing Q... as ive no clue :nope:

Ft....fab weight gain for G :happydance:

No choice in dummies at sainsburys..rubbish! Their own brand were only £1.89 for 2....worth a try you never know

M just seems to be straining all the time!! Cant be right :-(

Kkl...sorry for your loss:kiss:

mitch - re straining...N was doing that for about a week when he was on the infacol (didnt put 2n2 together til Wouldluv mentioned it) and as it didn't seem to be helping N I stopped it a week ago and 2 poo's yesterday and 3 today...he seems much more comfy...

ETA he wasn't constipated just strainy/windy low down...

FT awesome weight gain ...

cupcake don't worry about weight gain...all babies are different - one of nct girls said to me yesterday "N's smaller than i thought he'd be" and so the seed of self-doubt was planted...lots of dirty/wet nappies - all fine i promise!!!!! :hugs:

ladies whoes bleeding has started to stop/stopped.... did it become less red blood at the end... and more... i dont know... dischargy???

FT - at the end mine got to be orange coloured mucous for a few days before it stopped.

Fabulous weight gains! Well done super mummies and babies!

We've had a sudden reduction in poos too although still getting farts and had a double poonami yesterday evening. I'm thinking, more mature digestion? Or growth spurt?

Afm, I've got an appointment with the donation woman for my local breast milk bank tomorrow so I can donate. A used it while we were in hospital and I want to be able to give something back. I'm quite excited!

X

Thanks waula....i did wonder about using infacol...thought i had imagined the link.to poop and straining...obviously not. Thanks for reminding me....dont use it every feed ...about 2-3 times a day..will drop that...i am not sure it helps as i just dont think M is that windy

Ft....bleeding turned to more reddy/brown mucousy and stringy (mmmm lovely)....just easing off only now...mucousy bit dragged on for last week

Really hoping M is a bit more cheerful tonight for hubby...i am sure he thinks she is like that all day!!!! I am not sure if he feels guilty or thinks i cant cope but he has cancelled tennis tonight hmmmmm

FT yes I had a lot of clear loss once it stopped being blood.

Poo-wise, F is pooing less often now most the time. Roh used to poo every 3-4 days, which was great! :haha:

Gaah F is being unputdownable agan this evening :dohh: I'll have to pop her in the sling, just 'm feeling weary and want to put her down. I really sould know better than to indulge in wishful thinking!! My mistake is planning to do stuff with her in her basket, should never rely on that, then I would be happier over all I reckon!

I think a lot of how you cope as a parent is to do with your expectations  if ypou expect them to feed a certain time, sleep a certain time etc then you leave youself open to frustration. If you accept they atre essentially unpredictable to start with then its easier tto cope with I reckon. That's my theory anyway

evening all,

i agree emera, i am very open minded and flexible about what baby wants and i think i am very relaxed as a result of this.

laura, good luck with the milk donation

congrats FT on the baby weight gain

sorry to hear about your grandfather KK

waula - not sure you meant me with the weight gain response?? i dont have any worries over R's weight gain...

The NCT meet at my house went really well. R slept and was really good, everyone was impressed i had made a cake and although my house is small everyone fit in.

we are off to register R's birth tomorrow

bought more babygros today as he has now grown out of the 'up to one month' size and is now is 'up to 3 months size'

Somewhat disappointing appointment today. E's not back up to birth weight. The doc wants me to try supplementing up to an ounce of formula after each feed and try to make sure he eats every two hours during the day. I feel bad because I didn't feed him before going to the appointment because I was rushing. That could have put him up at least a couple ounces! We're going back Tuesday for another weight check. Come on Elliott Show them that you can be a chunky monkey!

Missy, no but I did just hear on the news it was a fighter plane!
