I need a break. Someone come save me please.
I went to check on Zoe this morning at 4:30am because she had a fever the night before. I walked in to her bedroom in the middle of a complex partial seizure. I tried to get her to respond, and it wasn't happening. Today was the first time I had ever needed to use a rescue medication. When she came out of it, she started going on about a pink something-or-other and would not answer my questions, so I checked her temperature, 104F, and I took her to the Children's hospital. It was there that they decided to do a urine sample and did it via catheter. They told me there was 3+ blood in her urine, whatever that means, and sent us home with a prescription for antibiotics to cure a bladder infection. Skip ahead to 3:30pm and a scary moment. Zoe seized again. But this time, it wasn't a CP. She came out of it on her own after 45 seconds and I checked her temperature again. 104 again. I dosed her with Advil and she fell asleep for two hours. 5:30pm she woke up and I could feel the heat coming off her from across the room. She was 105F now, so I piggybacked with Tylenol and we went straight back to the hospital. I told the nurse that Zoe has trouble with her fevers responding to medication because of her medical condition and the idiot triage nurse tried to tell me I was underdosing Zoe and that was why her fever wasn't responding. She wouldn't even listen when I tried to explain what we knew of Zoe's condition. She even argued with me. telling me that Zoe was not microcephalic because she didn't look like a micro kid. Zoe's head hasn't grown in 2 years. It's the average size of a 14 month old, but I digress...
And Zoe decided to show off and have yet another seizure while at the hospital.
We're at home now, with a new prescription. Turns out, she has a bad case of strep throat that is worse for her because of her tonsil issue. How strep throat was misdiagnosed as a bladder infection is beyond me.
3 seizures in a day is enough for me. I'm exhausted. I'm going to bed.
