Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

brandi could you not use a nursing sling of some sort? George has a dummy and I agree seems to be causing him no confusion.

depends which side george is on as to what I can do while feeding lol dont think I could do moving though lol

On the bright side, her staying on for so long seems to be draining the clog. That makes me happy, lol. It was ping pong ball sized this morning and it's about the size of a gumball now. Yay!

Great news brandi.

Well, bethany changed her mind, all 3 1/2oz have been drained

I agree about nipple confusion, you can get fussy babies though:haha: Eilidh completely refuses to take from a bottle now although did so reasonably well at first, she much prefers the breast she also wont take a dummy.

Brandi:hugs: I hope you guys can get her suck sorted. Do you sling as you feed to get things done? I do that or just do things one handed, lol couldnt do laundry folding one handed though!

New, yay for lovely day with OH:cloud9: Sounds like you had a time of it at the clinic:hugs: Try not to let it get you down, you're doing great!

24/7, glad you're nearly ready for town, you'll love all the fuss little sam will get:happydance:

Wiggler, I'm sorry youdont feel comfortable NIP, it comes with time hun so dont get stressed and worried about not feeling ready:hugs:

We went out today lol, tried a new coffee shop which was completely not set up for kids, oops:dohh: so then went to mcdonalds and let my toddlers play on the slide, then went to the store and bought toys for Eilidh:cloud9:

Aww I wish the Mcdonalds over here had play areas for kids. most of them don't even have the party areas anymore :(

Bethany has the most beautiful eyes, I wish she was awake more so I could just stare into them :cloud9:

No, I don't use a sling. I have a helpful hubby who gets things done when I'm "immobilized" by my barracuda baby. There's never really much to do around here anyway, usually just dishes and laundry, which can be done in between feeds. My husband usually takes on the dishes while I tackle the laundry. I refuse to let him do anyone else's laundry but his own, since he tends to ruin every piece of laundry he does, lol. He doesn't understand the concept of stain remover and will either wash and dry an article without treating it, or he'll just throw it in the garbage.

If there's ever anything else to do, it gets done in between feeds, or after all three kids are in bed.

I know that on her own time, she'll become more efficient. It's just a matter of when.

I was just going to ask about the pacifier/dummy issue. My little Travis loves to suck! He eats pretty well from the breast now, we've been supplementing w/ expressed milk in a bottle too since he had bottles at the hospital due to weight loss.
Anyway, I've been thinking that he'd love to have a pacifier. I have several still in their packaging because the lactation consultant I've seen says no pacifiers. the problem is that especially in the middle of the night, he will just pacify suck on my nipple instead of eating. I'd much rather he could have a pacifier for this part of his evening so that we could both get some more sleep.
I'm just worried to start the pacifier before he's completely used to breastfeeding. It seems that some of you have experience with breastfed babies having pacifiers. Did it matter when you started the pacifier?
Thanks!

Not at all, Soph. You might find that he'll reject the pacifier at first because it's artificial, but with persistence, just keep offering it to him and introducing him and he may take it. Anberlin still prefers my breast but will take the pacifier for short periods. She will suck on it until she's asleep, and then spit it out, or she'll suck until calm and spit it out, but it gives my poor nips a much needed break.

Isaiah was the same way. For both, it took about 5 or 6 introductions before they started taking it for even a few minutes. Eventually, Isaiah took it for longer periods, but I can't speak for Anberlin yet.

I don't have any problems with the pacifiers- in fact, they started on them in the NICU!

Bethanys bearing test went really well, she didn't like having the earpeice put in though but soon calmed down when I gave her cuddles :cloud9: The walk there and back has really killed my pelvis though so looks like I'm not taking the kids to feed the ducks later like I wanted to :( Going to have lunch at the canal tomorrow instead.

Way to go Bethany!!

Sorry about the pelvix, Wiggler. Hope it improves soon so you can go see the ducks!

Wiggler, sorry about the pelvis:hugs: Glad Bethanys hearing test went well though hun. Yeah the mcdonalds playplaces are a big hit esp here when its too hot to go the park.

Soph, no pacifiers here, not my thing! The NICU did keep trying to give her one, even when I said no:growlmad:thankfully she refused them and after a few words they stopped pushing them on me lol. The flutter sucking you describe is a great way to boost supply at this age but it is knackering:hugs: It does get easier as baby gets older.

Hello ladies!

Just managed to get on and catch up. Don't seem to have much spare time at the minute :haha:

24/7- I didn't really do anything to help with the rock hard boobs. They only hurt for one day and then they were fine. Sorry that's not much help.

Wiggler- Glad Bethanys hearing test went well. Hope your pelvis feels better soon!

Josh had his hearing test today and all was fine. Got him weighed as well and he is now 8lbs 1oz! DH went back to work today and i managed to look after him all by myself :haha: I did go into my mums for the afternoon as she took me down the doctors with him as i'm not up to walking all the way there yet.

Josh is doing really well meow:happydance: Yay for having him yourself! Do you have more energy now?

I had like 1 hours sleep last night, Eilidh had awful trapped wind and was just miserable. Hopefully my toddlers will be kind to me lol.

George had his first bath today :cloud9: He was soooooo relaxed after it, had some naked time, a feed and is now fast asleep!

I have got seriously seriously painful nipples right side worse than left but omg the thought of him latching on brings tears to my eyes. once he is on Im pain free and comfortable but that first few seconds is really getting painful!

Glad George enjoyed his bath. Are you using your Lansinoh? I found putting it on all the time really helped :hugs:

isnt that just for when they cracked? there is no cracked or bleeding or sores they just really painful and delicate.

Glad the hearing tests went well today :)

I registered George today :cloud9:

Soph George has a dummy and Im BFing he's had it a couple of days now. He doesnt always like or want it but occassionally really settles with it then when he is relaxed he spits it out and is done. I only give it when he is super grizzly.

I used it when they were cracked and raw and also when they just felt really tender.

Me and Bethany have been talking and decided she will start smiling soon :haha: She always looks so happy and a big grin would be lovely :)

took lots down to new house with Chris. Was so fun being in a van high up :haha: I have to phone gas/leccy and water monday and give meter readings and set it all up  Im going to be there all day sunday putting things together. Downer is bed wont be here til 27th so 5 days of either sleeping on a comfy sofa or a mattress on floor :haha: I chose the sofa but dont know if OH will mind as Leo will be downstairs with me. Chris also fitted the washing machine and will fit the cooker for us too. So good having a handy BIL  Think I chose the wrong brother as Gary is useless at DIY :haha:
