Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Thanks Inge - We are hovering at the 2oz Mark, sometimes it can be nearer 3, sometimes just 1. xx

I just had a really confusing appt with the MW and for the first time since he arrived I stupidly cried about it (after I left clinic). MW was weighing George and said to me, 'dont worry if he has lost weight it is perfectly normal, but if he has gained thats also normal so dont worry' George weighed exactly the same, so she said I need to change my feeding routine and maybe try to force feed him more between 6pm-10pm and get him into the habit of cluster feeding then (my busiest time of day 4 nights a week!). Now I feel even more useless at this BFing lark than I did before. And she assured me that clinic wouldnt take long, so when I got there he started grizzling for feed I made him hang on knowing we'd be seen soon and he hates being disturbed, but id have plenty of time to feed after my appt then get Joshua but she kept telling me '2 minutes now' which lasted 45 minutes so George was totally peed off, and i didnt have time to feed him before getting Joshua so poor thing was made to wait about 90 minutes in total!!!

Aww new, don't let her make you lose heart, you are juggling so much and doing so well. :hugs:

MW still not turned up here.... xx

So I met with a lactation consultant this morning and found out why Anberlin likes to nurse so much. Her latch is perfect, but her suck is inefficient. It's not strong enough to draw out her entire feed in one reasonable session. This is why she's staying on for two hours or longer, and then hungry again right after, and why my ducts clogged...because she's not draining efficiently enough.

So, the LC will be coming by on Thursday to try and help with her sucking and if we can't make her efficient, it looks like I'll be EEing.

Thanks 24, I was probably just tired and irrational i shouldnt have got upset by such a comment, his nappies are wet very wet now and his poops have got yellowy and pasety so he is getting plenty of hind milk and I really cant do anything better than that for him. Had a sleep with george on the sofa for an hour, feel a tad more human now lol he has gone back to sleep if I didnt have the other little man to feed i'd join him! lol

Cant believe your MW hadnt turned up yet, ours come between 8am - 2pm, has she been now?

Hope the LC can help you Brandi you have such a good supply shame she isnt managing to get it all easily xx

Still not here and I'm feeling so tired from having been awake all day waiting up for her!!

George sounds like he is doing brilliant, so ignore her and keep going as you are. xx

would she come this late? They cant expect anyone to stay in literally all day!! They say 8-2 here but they give you a rough idea of when, like Monday she said between 10-11 ish, and she was, then his weight needs reviewing Friday so my MW will be here between 12-2 be nice to see her, not seen her since I had george she hasnt met him.

I think I remember hearing it was before 8pm, but that was through a friend now from the MW?! It seems far too late to be coming now, especially for the heel prick too.... It's Sam's bath time soon to relax him for bed and I don't know whether to bath him or not?! Won't be relaxing if he has to be pricked afterwards!! xx

OHs brother can only move our stuff tomorow so Iv had to try to contact lady I brought a fridge freezer from to let her know we need to pick up tomorow. Hope its ok:wacko: I have to help out as OH will prob be at work when Chris (BIL) comes round with the van. Got so much to do tomorow :nope: At least Leo is asleep so I can get started on the packing

My breast pump is shite. fecking waste of money :(

I have the Tommee Tippee closer to nature manual pump, I had one last time with Dylan and it was fab, this one is awful though. OH has now promised me a Medela Swing at the end of June :happydance:

24 8pm is awfully late! I'd be a bit annoyed if someone came knocking then. Keep Sam in his routine though, bath and bed, she'll have to reschedule his heal prick test for tomorrow or end of the week. I think there is a relatively wide window for him to have it in!

Wiggler sorry your breast pump isnt working very well! Ive got that pump, but no intention of expressing.

I've used so many pumps...Gerber manual, First Years Double Electric, two Avent Isis manuals and the Avent Isis IQ Duo Double Electric. Gerber manual sucked and hubby broke it by washing the spring handle, First Years hurt like hell and did bad nipple damage, hubby washed the old valves of the Avent manual pumps down the sink, and the Avent Isis IQ Duo has been my lifesaver. I love it. For as much as I produce, this pump drains me in 20-30 minutes. It's comfortable, effective and has a memory. Where most pumps have predetermined speeds, you control the speed of this one by starting off manually, then push a button and it continues pumping electronically at the speed you were going manually. It retails here for $500 but I got mine, brand new and sealed off Ebay for $249.

The best part about being able to control the speed is that I can easily pump through my cracked nipples by starting off gently and slowly until my nipples adapt to the suction, and then apply more pressure, whereas most pumps automatically start off with a determined level of pressure. The predetermined level would just crack my nipples open again and make them bleed, where being able to start gently prevents them from recracking and bleeding.

I've used a Medela before and personally, it wasn't for me, but that's awesome that your hubby has promised you one. I hope it works for you! If it doesn't, I highly recommend the IQ Duo.

On another note, after a week of no bleeding, I had a big gush and stained my white couch. It went right through the pad. Grrrr.

No MW, so Sam has has his bath and absolutely loved it today!! :D xx

awwwww bless him :) George is snuggled up with me I think I may go to bed to watch the soap awards and put him down, we both might get some decent sleep then if we have another bad night lol

Oooh what time does the soap awards start?

Good old +1. thanks hun, I mean to watch it every year, but always forget. I'm still gutted I forgot about Eurovision and didn't watch it live this year.

So something shocking happened earlier. Dylan actually ASKED to go to bed early... 7pm instead of 8pm... random!

Awww bless him, did he settle in bed too? Joshua has a new big boy bedtime of 8.30, but he is still up and down I think he thinks george starts doing party tricks when he's in bed and he pops down to check what we doing lol Im sure he'll settle soon.

I got sore nipples tonight, and feel like Ive repeatidly been kicked in my lady bits arghh think I might be over doing things a bit, aches and pains kicking in slowly!
