Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

:dohh: i might just send him out again..

:happydance: for the pain going!

lol i only have 1 that can pester and thats nightmare enough lol shopping is so much more expensive taking him lol

When Dylan was newborn he puked up bright yellow, I freaked out until I found out the was colostrum  Bethany puked up red the other week, my poor nip was so cracked that she got blood with her milk

new - Glad the pain is really easing up hun!!!

I spend so much more when I actually go shopping in a shop with Dylan rather than online, I just want to treat him to everything

:hugs: wiggler, hope it feels alot better!

We had an incident with my son about a year ago when his poop went bright red, we even took him to the ER, turns out he stole a red velvet cupcake

Yeah shopping with them all is hard, I'm used to it and they dot pester me nearly as much as DH, they think they can get away with everything!

My throat is killing now, really hope the voice dont go as that makes dealing with the kids super hard:dohh:

Its miles better now, it did get to the point though where I seriously just wanted my nipple to fall off it hurt that bad! Good thing we were skint, or I would have bought some formula :haha:

I cant believe how expensive formula is, its $16 a tub here. I'm very glad Eilidh started refusing her topped up ebm bottles lol if anything the cost was making my eyes water.

Yup 24, that's colostrum. Just keep going with the pumping and latching and you should see more come in soon. If you haven't already, go pick up some Fenugreek. Take 2-3 3 times a day. You might smell a little like maple syrup but you'll see a huge difference in supply within a few days if you keep up with the pumping and latching...and once your milk comes in, Sam might begin to stay on a bit longer.

So the little Miss has decided to be a cat napper and a grazer. She's spending 45 minutes on the boob, sleeping for 20 minutes, then waking for more boob. I feel so horrible for her because she takes 4oz every 3-4 hours and I'm only producing 4.5oz in one boob every 8-10 hours, and less than 2oz in the other boob every 8-10 hours.

I really hate this mastitis thing. It's really killed my milk supply and I really need this supply for when I go back to placement. I'm avoiding giving her a bottle of expressed milk because I'm hoping that by latching her as often as she wants I can get my supply back. I can't do fenugreek right now because it blocks the absorption of the antibiotics and I don't want this mastitis crap again.

Sounds like you're having a tough time brandi:hugs: Hopefully she can drain more than you get from pumping and latching her on will increase it untill you can take your supplement. You're going to be tired though so:hugs:

Formula is about the same price here mummy! Although one supermarket or other often has at least 1 brand on an offer. Think SMA is currently on the 2 for £10 offer.

Could this thrush have slowed down my supply? George feeds for 20-30 minutes on my good breast and settles well for the full 2-3 hours, but will feed for an hour or more on the sore breast yet wants to go back on by the 2 hour mark, but often within 1.5 hours.

brandi really hope your supply picks up quickly and your infection clears up xx

It's possible. Infections can temporarily decrease supply. Mastitis can sometimes permanently damage supply, and I'm really hoping that's not the case with me. Formula is expensive here, about $25 for powder, $50 for a 12-can case of concentrated.

If you didn't feed as much on the side with thrush as you did the good side it would decrease supply a bit, George will up it by feeding longer and more often on that side. Does he take both breasts at each feed now? If so offer the sore side first every time and you'll be fixed in no time:thumbup:

$16 was shocking, I have fed all my kids from the breast until Eilidh needed supplementing so I had no idea how much it was lol, hth do people afford it?!

 $25? how much is that in usd?

Thats crazy expensive! Is it for general formula or one of the specialised ones? Lol I didn't even realise you could get different kinds:haha:

Okies, George usually only takes 1 breast per feed. He latched on to my sore side around 9.10pm/9.15pm and came off at 10.20pm he was a little restless and appeared to need winding so I nursed him, but it was obvious after he wanted to go back on the breast, he latched on my good side at 10.45pm and just came off so about 11pm and is now settled asleep. Should I keep feeding from my sore side, then finishing off with my good side? Will this not cause problems on my good side if he is only topping up with 15 minute feeds?

Sounds like he's ready to take both sides hun, I'd do the bad side then the good side and over a couple of days they will even out and your supply will match Georges demand:thumbup:

15/20 mins is a decent length of feed so dont be too worried about that.

That's for formulas like Similac, Enfamil and Nestle, nothing specialized.
