My lo is now 6 months and he has been put on soya milk the dr prescribed wysoy but its sma but is there another soya milk i can put him on?? Im not keen on sma x

There is also cow and gate infasoy. Is there any specific reason why soya formula was prescribed? Though there is no strong evidence of harm for babies over 6 months from soya formula, there are still better alternatives out there in the case of allergies or intolerances xx

Can I ask why he was prescribed soy milk? If it was for an allergy then they are often allergic to soy too. I'm very surprised your dr prescribed this. My lg's consultant and dietician says soy is a big no no! And a hypoallergenic formula is used instead x

Why is it a big no no?? He was prescribed it due to always throwing up his milk and things with dairy he is beigg refered to a specialist.

Some studies have suggested that the hormones found in soya can be harmful to young babies. It mimics one of the female hormones (I think estrogen). However my LO's dietician said soya formula wasn't such a problem after 6 months when they are also on solids. But you might find a specialist changes the formula a hypoallergenic one.

I read this over the weekend which very lightly touches on it.

GP's are general practitioners and 99% of them are clueless about CMPI and link to soya......

you can get cow and gate infasoy, if your little one still carries on with the sympotoms then a hypoallergenic formula such as neocate will be the way forward.

do your research, on reflux, silent reflux, CMPI, MFPA and then if you think you need to go back to the dr.

I found one of the gp's in my practise utterly patheticly useless, yet the dr we preferred to see was a new dad himself, i presented my information to him and he considered it, and after i started showing up every single day with a screaming baby who projectiled every feed over his waiting room and in one case him, he just put his head in my hands and asked what i wanted.

I have known some mums need to go to A&E to get help for babies who screaming and being sick non stop.

It's a 'no no' because babies with allergies to dairy are often allergic to soy too. Infact my lg had a worse reaction to soy milk than cows milk. Gp's these days don't usually perscribe it for that reason. But I do agree with past post some many gp's no little about allergies. I would talk to the specialist about the hypoallergenic formulas x

Perhaps try this https://www.nutramigen.co.uk/parent/products/
