Hi Gals,

On friday i picked up a cotton nappy starter kit from someone from freecycle in the bag i have been given (all unused) were

2 Terry Toweling shaped nappies called tots bots size 1 with nappi nippas suitable for a newborn i am told is that i need to pop a flushable liner onto the fixed insert which takes away the solids.

4 waterproof covers and a dozen cotton prefold inserts (size 1) all Bambino Mio type two branded mother ease and two branded nature babies . I am told i need to get the flushable liners for these and i am also going to need a bin to pop the soiled insert into once i have flushed the liner and that i will also need a net to pop them into and some nappy sanitizer. Am i right?

2 Fleece liners (i think this is for heavy wetting??? anyone know)

4 One life cotton one size cotton nappies with the inserts - do i also need flushable liners for these and waterproof covers or will the waterproof covers i have with the other bambino mio nappies fit them??

I am thrilled i have managed to get these as i know how expensive they are to buy, i have some size 1 and size 2 newborn disposable nappies all ready but i really wanted to try and use a proportion of reusable nappies if i could although might not be straight away

Are my assumptions as to what i need right?

Any other tips??

Loopy

Use one of your covers with these also

you will need a bin for dirty nappies, you can either dry pail or wet pail, you dont need a net but using one keeps your hands cleaner than chucking them one by one into the washer, you dont need to sanitise before washing but you can

2 Fleece liners (i think this is for heavy wetting??? anyone know)

fleece liners draw the moisture away from babies bum, i use these instead of flushables

4 One life cotton one size cotton nappies with the inserts - do i also need flushable liners for these and waterproof covers or will the waterproof covers i have with the other bambino mio nappies fit them??

the covers you have should fit and yes use liners, fleece or flushable

:flower:

Thanks for that I am going to kiddiecare in 2 weeks and will pick up the liners and stuff when were there that's needed.

Reading up on the leaflets any other tips??

kiddicare won't do fleece liners - they only do flushable ones.

as for the pail - any lidded bucket will do - i use wilko lidded toy buckets (red with blue lid) cost me a fraction of the price of a 'nappy pail' and also much bigger. i have one upstairs and one downstairs.

clothnappytree have a treecycle thread too, though they give away used nappies that they wouldn't sell. great way of trying them out.

i have 2 fleece liners so i think i just need the flushable, thanks for the tip about the nappy bin i will have a look at that i have some other things to get in wilko :)

Will have a look at cloth nappy tree as well :)

some flushable liners crease up and end up not being very effective, when i used them i used totsbots ones and doubled them up x
