I cant be sure what we will be entitled to after the changes in april tax credits wise...but its looking more and more like i wont be able to afford to work:nope:

Im going back on 16hours getting around £500 pm and OH gets £1000 per month.
Childcare is £1010 per month.

Iv been told i will only get a very small amount of childcare help and this might mean i cant afford to be in work.

The problem is, i think i have to go back for so many months otherwise i will have to pay back my maternity pay....what the hell do i do?!

Has anyone else been in this situation?

Did your employer give you anything above SMP (6 weeks at 90%, then £128ish - I think - for 33 weeks)? If not, then you don't have to pay anything back if you give up work.

If you did receive extra maternity pay then you may have to pay it back, if this is the case then the alternative is to return to work for a short period and then leave...you would have to speak with your employer about what period they would expect you to work though.
