I'm completely new to this! LO started nursery a few weeks back so what do we do for Xmas presents for teachers? What to buy? Do I buy them all or just his one class teacher? Do I give cards to the kids? So confused xxx

I was thinking this the other day as my LO has just started Afternoon Nursery :D

I think i will be giving his class friends christmas cards and buying his 3 teachers a present each but not sure what atm. There is actually 4 Nursery teachers but only 3 are with him..But i dont want to leave the other lady out as she has known LO since i was pregnant with him :).

Stalking this for ideas :D xx

honestly i didnt buy them xmas presents. i dont think i even sent cards i was quite stressed last year though lol!

When Callum was in nursery last year I got all the teachers some biscuits, then his two main teachers I got them a xmas yankee candle and holder each. Callum wrote each teacher a card and then we were given a list of each childs name in his group so I wrote the xmas cards out for his friends and he added the kisses! xx

DD has her own little cards for her friends and teachers at nursery, but there's only 30 friends + 1 teacher card.

I doubt I'll be buying presents for the teachers cause there's a head mistress and about 9 teachers who she likes and associate with her.

Maybe just a cheap box of chocolates, candle, home baked cookies cut into letters?

EDIT - A tin of celebrations/Roses/Quality streets to share!

As a teacher (in nursery this year) I honestly don't mind in the slightest not getting a present. It is so very kind of those who do, but by no means expected. For multiple members of staff, cheap chocs/biscuits are a great idea if you feel you really want to, but please dont feel compelled ;-)

LO started nursery in April and there's a few who look after her but she has one who does most of her care. LO loves her to pieces and she's been brilliant with her. I know I don't need to but I want to get her something nice so I'm gonna put her together a pamper box. Then I will send in a tub of celebration/roses for the other teachers to share. I just feel it's more of a thank you present to her aswell as when LO started at the nursery I wasn't so sure and neither was LO but since her key person took over her care she's been brill and I'm more relaxed :) xx

Last year we handed in a big tin of shortbread for the staff to have on their break. Think we'll do the same this year, or maybe a tin of chocolates. We handed it in about a week before they closed so there'd be time for them to get eaten.

I had not really even thought of this :/

Both my boys are in nursery

My oldest son has quiet a few workers he is very keen on and the majority of them are males which makes it even harder as males in general are harder to buy for.

Hmmmm this one requires a bit of thinking lol

I think I will get a box of chocolates and biscuits for them to share my son has a key worker but I find the other women who work there seem to work with him equally so I wouldn't like to leave them out so something to share sounds like the best idea

This is the first year we've had to think about this too! I think I'm going to make some fudge and give that for them all to share :)

Ds is into his 4th and final Xmas at a private day nursery where there are usually 6ish staff members - this is what I always do:

Nice gift bag with:
- Homemade card - usually hand/foot print decorated type and label it to all the staff members and ds signs his name - usually goes up on their 'wall'
- Big box of biscuits or chocolates to share
- One little thing labelled to each staff member - last year it was a small chocolate santa, year before a small choc snowman lolly and this year I think I'm going to do hot choc cones - I just used those little Xmas sticky labels to name them.

I find all the staff have some part to play in his day I.e. Babies lead does the breakfast slot, he has a preschool teacher there whose just come from toddlers and it's the toddlers lead who always does the 'afterschool' bit and daily handover.

We never do Xmas cards to kids as I don't think they understand nor can they read!

Hi when the boys were at nursery I got their main keyworker a present and then I would buy a big tin of biscuits or a tin of chocolates for the other people that worked in the pre school room. X

My youngest goes to 2 nurseries. In one there are 3 teachers. In another there are 6, here he has a key worker. I will buy the key worker and the 3 teachers in the other nursery. They will only be token gifts of chocolates or something. On top of this my eldest has a class teacher, a one to one, 2 taxi escorts, 2 physio's that we also buy for so it adds up. Last year the pound shop had Cadbury milk tray in for you guessed it £1 so will hopefully get these again

We have only ever given nursery tins of chocs (roses etc) to the staff in general. I think they actually share them by each taking one home, rather than sharing them at work. And last year Hayden wanted to give a card to his best friend, but we didn't do them for everyone. A few others did, and it made me feel a bit mean for not doing the same, but it seemed so pointless - as someone else said, they can't read or write them!

I agree about cards. I doubt I will for children. Does seem fairly pointless x

This year Gabriella was in nursery with 3 teachers and I bought the equivalent of this (exactly the same but last year they were the travel cups rather than a mug) and they went own well and was easy as on 3for2

Box office biscuits for the staff to share, and a card "to everyone".

Box OF biscuits, not box office! Stoopid phone!
