So at 9 months we are at that stage of the shirt pulldown/let's have a drink when out in public. How did you all get started on teaching 'manners'? He's 9 months old, I don't even know if I can?

No idea. I still get eager little hands down my shirt in public. I usually just say "not right now" and offer water of distract her with something else.

I don't know that there's much you can do at 9 months really. We're just about getting to the age when he's starting to understand instructions, but before that, I'd just catch his hands. He'd get that look in his eye first, so I'd be ready to stop him pouncing!

Aw thanks!

And I had a 2 year old try to nurse from me today too  My friend's daughter. Ah well, everyone loves boobs I guess.

My LO has just started to do this! But as a pp said, he also gets a look in his eye to warn me it's coming!

Oh yes, my daughter does it too! She grabs at my shirt, pulls, she even pats at my boobs. She's a silly little girl.

I find it adorable, and my husband and I get a good chuckle when she does it!

I'm not sure if this will work, but I'm teaching my daughter sign language, and one of the signs i'm starting with is "milk", maybe that will help. She has already started signing back the word "more", so I know she gets the concept!

I also have started teaching my baby the sign for milk in *hopes* that he will do that instead of pulling at my shirt...he's only pulled on my clothes for milk once or twcie so far, so we haven't quite gotten to that stage. However, yesterday he tried to sign milk back to me for the first time :) I think it will still be a little bit before he can sign it to me to ask for it, so we'll see how it goes :flower:

We taught Isaac the sign for 'milk' and it's still how he asks now. I've never tolerated pulling at my shirt, so he knows not to do it. I don't think 9 months is too young to start enforcing some boundaries - just move his hand away and say something like 'do you want milk? Ask for 'milk' like this (and then sign it)' It won't be an overnight magical transformation, but it sets good foundations to build on later :)

Also, how is he 9 months old already??

Thankfully my LO hasn't done that in public, however in the home she's stuck her hand down my shirt a couple times, I usually just stop her :haha: and she STILL will randomly attack DH and try to suck his nips :haha:

Haha my LO has tried to latch onto my DH as well, I laugh so hard! Babies are so funny!

I wish Sophie would do this! I pretty much have to beg her to nurse.

I've been trying to figure out how to start teaching manners as well. In the last few days she's started pulling my shirt away from my chest using her teeth, while diving in with both hands to try to wrestle a boob out! :haha:
