OT - Usama Bin Laden is DEAD!

There seem to be many contradictory stories surrounding the events of Bin Laden's death being released at the moment.

I find this whole situation pretty ridiculous.

Considering the number of conspiracy theories about 9/11, you'd hope the US Government would try to be as transparent about what happened to avoid the masses that are now floating about about Bin Laden's "death."

Their stories change daily. First he died in a firefight, then he used his wife as a shield...then today they concede he was actually unarmed. I understand why they'd want to make him out to be a coward - but I don't understand the need to admit he was unarmed. It proves they skewed the truth & it makes me wonder why exactly they needed to admit he was unarmed, no one would know any different, unless something else is about to come out.........

And the whole 'let's release a pic of him death to prove he is dead' serves no purpose. It doesn't prove WHEN he died, it doesn't even prove it's him...silly.

I agree with you Sam ^^^

You'd think, that considering they WATCHED the whole thing that they release facts and not different story, different day!

I heard the wife as a shield thing yesterday, but today its being stated that its his 12 yr old daughter :nope:

I can get the whole them seeing the mission through bit, i woukd imagine if I ordered a course of action I would like to witness it as far as possible, but why did they release the pic of them watching the event. News broadcasters here mention how horrified and drawn they all look and to me, it sounds like we are supposed to applaud their courage or some such quality. Image is everything in politics and them releasing this pic is geared at manipulating the viewer in some way. I guess Im just fed up argh

Problem with them watching is that it is sick, there was no need for it. As for realeasing photos etc if that is the case is also truly disgusting. Reagardless of what he has done what about his family? He was still someones father, husband, son??

actually they then changed it again and said it was someone elses wife...

also although sometimes i think yes he was a husband (to many wifes) and a father (to many children) those people were happy and pleased with what he did and that in my eyes makes them as bad as hima nd the other terrorists. they would of gone on suicide bomb missions and his sons did shoot people. so they are NO better then the man himself.

and honestly if my son grew up to be a guy who murdered people...he would no longer be my son.

 totally agree. if my son did this i would be up for his murder

I think the fact they watched it was necessary . what's the alternative? Have someone call him and tell him what happened? Maybe there would be miscommunication that way. At least the man who ordered it got to watch it happen. The biggest thing is that they needed to know what happened. What if Osama didn't get killed or what if a solider did get killed? Someone would have to report what happened.

As for the reports coming out, remember that there were probably half a dozen people on the opposite side of the world involved and another half a dozen in the govt who knew. That's a huge stretch from any one of them who have first hand info to the media who loves to spice up any story no matter how gross it already is to begin with.

Depending on which paper you read or which channel you watch you hear something diferent. Think that just says that the media are having a field day as normal.
With regards to them showing video or photos of the scumbags death... bring it on... after all, we all saw people falling from the WTC .. why should his death be 'private' ?

That was truely heartbreaking to watch. To feel so desperate to jump to your death....
The majority of the WTC deaths were people that suffered before they died. Osama didnt suffer, he had a fucking good death in my eyes. BANG - gone.
Heartless? Probally. But one of my friends died in this stupid war, blown up by one of their bombs.

Please rememeber that Al Qaeda did not just cause the WTC bombings but the deaths in London on 7/7, the Bali Bombings, the Mumbai bombings and many other terririst attrocities. I know it is nit- picking but I get a bit wound up when people only mention 9/11. So many other people have lost loved ones due to Osama Bin Laden.

Agree. I still say a bullet was too good for him. As an ex soldier myself I probably have a very black and white view on things... coupled with a rather odd sense of humour. I too have lost some dear mates... I cannot say they died for no reason.. I just hope that one day the cause becomes clear.

The fact is we will never know what happened but the one thing I'm most convinced of is that the truth will never be reported or made available to the public. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but a lot goes on behind closed doors and the information we are receiving is well orchestrated from above.

I am afraid we would probably be writing all day if we listed all atrocities and deaths caused by OBL and Al Qaeda. Your point is valid though :flower:

Death is in some peoples eyes is justice.

But if they had captured him, put him on trial, so that we he can be accountable for everything he had done and made the world aware of the atrocities he orchestrated and then punished him...that wouldve been something amazing to shout about!

And run the risk of the trial judges and their families being killed or threatened?

You could say that with ANY trial though?!

Should all trials be stopped incase of threats...? Why should he be the exception...

That would make no sense!

exactly.

the point of a justice system is to put wrongs right - presenting consequences to actions... not be so scared of a criminal that we disregard the system and rid the world of them in other ways!
