OT - Usama Bin Laden is DEAD!

Oh...just read...another reason he was buried at sea was because they say it would have been difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains of such an infamous figure.

Just saw this on FB. Maybe it's wrong to find it funny but i just couldn't help a chuckle (not at the news but of the mistake...) https://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2011/05/obama-bin-laden-dead-fox-news-affiliate-defends-itself-for-typo.html

i know that mistake has been made all day the moment the news broke about the death of Usama.

but i mean its one thing to slip up and say Obama instead of Usama...but to TYPE it wrong?! the B isnt anwhere near the S on a keyboard :dohh:

my favourite is a video of a guy saying "president obama is dead...hang on...im sorry I mean usama Bin Laden is dead...very sorry about the mix up there..."

he actually sounded disappointed that it was Usama and not Obama :haha:

I haven't been part of this discussion but I do have to say they didn't just 'dump' him in the ocean. The ship followed muslim law and the body was washed and wrapped with the appropriate wrapping for a muslim ceremony and a muslim seaman performed the ceremony.

My husband is on board the ship that he was buried from. I haven't been able to speak to my husband since any of this happened because they've completely shut down the ships email system for the safety of everyone on board. But I do know that they gave him as proper a burial as they could under the circumstances. The seals that killed him are also from my husband's ship so it's a bit scary for me that my husband could now be on a floating target.

Goodness Cleckner that's a bit close to home, huge hugs to you :hugs:

I'm sure it's the most protected & also most prepared ship against any attack though!

Very frightening for you.

Thanks ladies. :flower: I have no doubt that his ship is being well protected.

I just wanted to clarify that it's not like they just dumped the body with no regard to anyone else. I think they simply just ran out of time because the body needed to be buried within 24 hours of the death. And a lot of time was spent collecting DNA, etc. from what I've read on a few different news websites.

People can call these soldiers murderers but at the end of the day, they were doing their jobs. A truly evil man is gone and I'm sure it isn't even close to being the end of things, but I'm sure the families of the victims from 9/11 are feeling a small sense of closure right now.

(My DH is just an aviation mechanic BTW, he just happens to be on the same ship as the Seals that did the dirty work )

Eek, cleckner how scary for you! :hugs:

No one is calling the soldiers murderers as such, it was the decision of the government that was in question.

Oh Cleckner, :hugs:

But you know what, i think you've probably got more of an idea of what happened that day than most of these stupid media reports!
'Dumped' is how the papers are putting it and so you assume they know a little of what theyre talking about! Obviously not

And as for referring to the soldiers as murderers, i dont think that, they are doing there jobs, it the government and the head-honchos who are orchestrating what happens!

Just as there is some stuff i dont particularly wanna do at work, but ive been told to do it, its my job so i have too!

:hugs:

I'm so sorry Cleckner; hope you get in touch with your OH soon. xx

I think no sane person would call any of the soldiers murderers. They are doing their jobs and what they are told. It is government which makes these decisions and I do think that those like me who have issue with all that has happened recently have issue with the Governments, not the soldiers.

I am not sure that the death of Bin Laden does bring closure to all those who lost loved ones to Al Qaeda, whether that be in 9/11 or in all the other attacks such as 7/77, Bali, India and so on. But I am sure that it does to some. I have wondered in recent days that if you believe in heaven and hell then you may get comfort where someone who doesn't, will not? I don't know. I haven't experienced this so can't put myself in their shoes.

Personally for me, I believe that he should have stood trial. But I know many, many others would not agree.

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

The more i read, the more riled i get...

...So Obama, Hilary Clinton and other politicians sat in a room and WATCHED Bin-Ladens murder in real time...Popcorn anyone?

Is this even legal...?

Lol I am picturing it like they were watching his murder in the same way as the opening scene of Michael Jacksons Thriller video where he is relishing the horror movie and chowing the popcorn
