OT - Usama Bin Laden is DEAD!

I do not agree with that, thats appalling!

He did awful things to the west and his own people, but he is a father, a son, a husband, an uncle, a grand-dad too, his family [the innocents] deserve to have the respect of being able to bury him.

Who is anyone to decide this apart from his family - Thats just awful, it really is!!!

To be fair, the familes of the people that died in the WTC didnt get a say in how their loved ones were put to rest. IMO.. it is only right that he be denied the same.

Completely agree.
But if bodies were found and identified then they did get a say in there burials.
He was killed, his body was examined and made 100% sure it was definately him, then just dumped.

Who OK'd this?

I think we are supposed to be impressed by the pics that are circulating showing Obama and his band watching the killing but to me it is a picture showing the moment that Obama lost any semblence of the humanity. My DH said they should put caption that says "the moment I became a monster".

I think the point Lellow was making is that it isn't him being denied it - it is his family.

What about the familes of victims? They have also been denied the right of a funeral/burial/cremation. So why should a terrorists family get the option?

I'm by no way condoning anything that happened and I know who the true victims are. But two wrongs don't make a right, and putting him to sea isn't punishing him any more now he is dead.

Slightly OT but I have been wondering what the guy that killed him said before he did the deed, I keep imagining he said "hasta la vista, baby". It sounds like he would have felt it was a glorious moment so I hope he had a good parting shot lol

Exactly!
Killing him was the easy way out for both him and the U.S.....Why not capture him and question him and if and when he was found guilty, punish him according to international laws.

I would have preferred him to be thrown to the victims familes for them to decide the punishment... as in Sharia Law. Would have been interesting.

Hugger thinks Schwarzneggar killed Osama

But OT of this, they are now sayin that it was infact one of Osamas guards that killed him?!

Because clearly laws can be cast aside if and when it is seen fit. Seriously, what is the point in these "laws"?

An eye for an eye you mean....Well i guess they just cut out the middle man and did it for them!

Dropped in the ocean?

Why was this done?

This was also to follow Islamic (?) custom it seems.

No, i can assure you it isnt an Islamic custom....

This is why I included a question mark. It's supposedly some custom, but it was also to avoid extremists and further violence at his grave. They didn't want it to become a shrine (for example) for those who followed him or for it to be a place to potentially cause more violence between those who followed him and those who came to piss on his grave.

Unless its cultural, which i doubt?!
But if they are true Muslims, they wouldnt create a shrine, it'd be like idol worshipping somewhat if they did!

I do agree tho, if there was a grave then either responses would be recieved by having a grave for him, but they couldve had an undisclosed grave with no significant features to show that its his....Thats how graves for Muslims are MEANT to be anyway!

I have very strong opinions on the subject , but I will try and keep my mouth shut as I will probably raffle a few feathers if I do.

I just wanted to add though that I thought it was hypocritical of Obama to use God's name in his White House speech on the killing as if God himself would approve of such acts. To me, Obama and his kind who have killed thousands of innocent lives in their 'fight against terror' are just as bad as Bin Laden. Oops, I said too much..... I'm out!

ETA: Just last week Gaddafi lost another son and three small grandchildren after a Nato airstrike. Now, I think what Gaddafi is doing to his people is monstrous, but really, where is the justice in this 'an eye for an eye' stance that super powers are taking?

Jojo- you are quite right! Why didn't they just cuff him and send him to the Hague or relevant tribunal?

Exactly, serve justice in what is supposed to be the western way.

Imagine the embarrassment if he was proven innocent though! You'd think that outcome to be impossible but perhaps it was more likely than we know?

It all stinks to high heaven to me, I'm sorry but I dont believe a word of it.

I agree, 2 wrongs DO NOT make a right.

I agree. I think it makes him a total hypocrit. It's never a good thing to take a life.... whatever side, whatever the reason.

Lol Arnold has been trying to make a comback maybe this was it. But seriously now its his guards that killed him? Oh man I don't know what to believe

Perhaps the *custom* I'm thinking of is to have the body buried (in the ground or at sea) within 48 hours...so I think it was more the time limit.

Yes, his guard apparently killed him, not in malice or was he being a traitor, but infact to save him from being captured, like a silent agreement between them all that if capture got close then this is what is expected of them.

This was the reports in Pakistani newspapers today anyway!

Yep, an eye for an eye.. however, I still think he got an easy way out and I still think a bullet was too good for him... sorry, I am not one to conform to being politcally correct.
I should have been born in a different era :dohh: ... I also should have stayed in the military.... would have LOVED to have been the one to take him out... ah well...
Probably too honest for my own good but hey, thats what a forum is all about. It's really interesting to read so many different opinions on this matter... It's an eye opener for sure. There are some really intelligent and diverse people on here and thats why I like it
