Our babies are all grown up - December 2009 and January 2010 toddlers

Aw bluebaby sounds like Madi loves it, how grown up bless her!

Babbler here too - Ethan says Dada and Mama but Dada is the only word with meaning I think. He understands loads though so it's all going in ... He's just started going nonono with his head and he knows what that means - must be something his nanny and grandad did as we don't shake our head for no lol

hi all can i come in. only just found thi. Caleb is now 14 months born december 3rd 2009. Walking every where and keeping me busy. looking forward to speaking to you xx

Aw BB that's great news, must be such a relief! Madi seems so grown up compared to Evie, I think maybe I hold her back sometimes and should just let her get on with things!

Hi Pink23 glad you came to join us :)

I'm having a moany day today, just posted a thread in the toddler section to vent over yes you guessed it SLEEP!!!!

We have had the worst week, last night she would not sleep from 11 until 3! a couple of nights before that 11-2, I actually lost it swore and shouted then cried as I felt bad :(. Def def def going to sort her room out and see if she settles better, we've got to try something for all our sanity as when I'm in the room she won't settle for Phil so I take her off him, we argue and then I get all worked up again as she still won't sleep, vicious circle! I was ranting at 2.30am how I was never ever having anymore babies and the side is going on the cot and I'm going to leave her to cry etc etc! Next door must think we're lunatics

:hugs: I know EXACTLY how you feel hun. I've been there so many times. Daisy has actually slept better this last 3 weeks (touch wood) but before that I was up dozens of times a night every night of her life and I felt like I was going crazy. The sleep deprivation changed my personality and I felt like there was a black cloud hanging over me. Now I've been sleeping better again the cloud has gone and it is amazing to feel normal. I am usually a really calm person but I too have shouted and sworn and said things I've regretted and cried my eyes out in the middle of the night, I beat myself up for days after I'd done that and hated myself but that's what sleep deprivation does to you. Nobody really understands unless they've been there. I hope Evie starts to sleep better soon and you get a chance to catch up on your sleep. Living without sleep is torture and I can empathise with you so much :hugs:.

Daisy also seems not grown up at all compared to Madi! Daisy still seems like a baby rather than a toddler in many ways. I think I also hold her back sometimes.

Hi Pink 23 :).

I'm soooo glad Daisy has started sleeping for you :happydance:, it affects everything doesn't it having so little sleep . Phil says I'm Jekyl and Hyde and sometimes he's right, I just can't be bothered speaking some days which isn't nice.

Hi Pink 23 :).

Thanks guys, I honestly didn't realise she was so grown up. I have been treating her as a baby not as I toddler. At the nursery, I had to hold myself back so many times from saying to the nursery staff that she is too young to be doing or eating those things. They had her doing things that I would have never dreamed of and eating things I never thought she was ready for and that was just 1 hour. I was so scared but at the same time I know they know what they are doing. As nervous as I was I think the nursery will be so good for her. I actually even let her walk in a shop today and she held my hand the whole time - it was so cute.

Hubby and I are off for the next week on holiday I so can't wait. Its beent the first time the 3 of us have spent this long together since July :happydance:

MNorbury I'm so sorry about the sleeping thing. I have only in recent months been getting sleep so I know how frustrating and upsetting it can be :hugs: I honestly think once Evie is in her own room things will get better. Babies can put such a strain on your relationship so it shows how strong your relationship must be. Just hang in there things will get better :hugs:

Neither of you are holding your LO's back, you are amazing mummies :flower:

:hi: pink. I'm so glad you could join the madness :yipee::wohoo:

thanks everyone.x
caleb has kept my parents and our friend busy the weekend whilst i was at work. We have been letting them feed him now with their food and he had a big meal today at our friends, beef, sprouts cabbage, pototes and gravy.
Its so sad to see them grow up. Caleb is walking around and if we have the tv on he decides to walk but watch the tv to ha ha.
Sleeping is getting there now. He will have milk at 11pm then a bit at 6 then normally sleeps til 7/8.
Because he is on more finger food at dinner time I wanted to get him weighed. He was 20lb 15ox and just checked he was eating enough and he is still following a line plus hv is happy with him xx
Hope everyone is well xx

Aw ladies wish I had some words of wisdom to aid the sleeping thing!!! We've been quite lucky with Ethan - think he has his dad's sleep genes as I'm a poor sleeper myself.

J, I think Ethan and Daisy are on the same page really development wise and that's no bad thing! I'm in no rush at all to push him - he'll do it all when he's ready. Eveyone keeps asking me if he's walking and I feel like saying 'don't you want to know all the other amazing things he's doing?' Saying that he's standing lots now and pulling us around wanting to walk. I don't want him to grow up too fast! He's still my baby!!!

I feel a bit stuck in a rut with food so I've got some new ideas today - especially stuck still for desserts though. He doesn't seem fussed with fruit as finger food but maybe I'm holding him back for lack of molar teeth - wouldn't be happy giving him pear or apple or orange - do you ladies? He seems to not get on with yoghurt now either - runny nappies - so we're on the ambrosia rice pudding a lot! Custard now and again with banana, banana on it's own (which he does love bless) and a fruit puree now and again but they're our 4 options really. Any ideas?

Hi Faye and welcome!!! Wondered why you weren't in here! xxx

Evies not really into deserts but fruit wise I do give her pear (really soft ones) and she really likes watermelon, I think it's the texture of it (although she likes to eat the peel :dohh:) but that will be nice and cool if he is teething too x

Hi linz , the new pics of ethan are great.looking forward to catching up.
Im a bit wooried with orange, he will try it but pulls a face. I was quite suprised today as he ate a dried apricot and seemed to eat ok but we do have to back to teeth so maybe that helps. Puddings here are really yoghurts, jelly and blueberrys.
We've had baby club today and music bugs tomorrow. Im going to try and take caleb swimming next week if I pluck up the corrage.
xx

Hello again ladies, haven't had much chance to get on recently as it's been a difficult few weeks. Among other things Holly has had a d & v bug and is now recovering from conjunctivitis, I can't believe how many bugs she's picks up from nursery  poor little mite. It doesn't help we have no family locally so work is a bit of an issue when nursery don't take her

Sleep - ladies I can so sympathise with those of you who are still having sleep probs. We had a great week before Xmas where she slept 7-7 for 5 nights straight but it's slowly deteriorated since then. Being ill a lot really doesn't help, but even when she's healthy she wakes up most nights once or twice and no longer is milk guaranteed to settle her back to sleep either ... she can self-settle as she does sometimes, so I just don't know what to do

Teeth - Holl is 14 months today and we still have none, not sure if her gums aren't annoying her somewhat, but if I had a pound for everytime I've said that in the last year .... :haha: That said she eats pretty much everything I throw at her ... the organix mini-gingerbread men take her about 15 mins to get through as she has to suck them quite a bit :haha:

Food - In terms of puds we still have lots of yoghurt and fruit (blueberrys, grapes, banana, raspberries, strawbs, kiwi, melon, pineapple, satsumas), Holl likes jelly too, ice cream every now and then as a treat, home-baked fruity muffins, when I get chance I make fruit crumble and custard/ice cream, raisins & dried apricots, toddler biscuits, that's about it! She does have a sweet gum though! Whenever possible she eats what we do now, last night she had fajita and sweet potato, so teeth (or lack of) doesn't stop her with that! She's also got a baby cutlery set and can spear little chunks with her fork and get it in her mouth, which she is very pleased with! Like someone said earlier, it's amazing how much they watch and mimic you, things you don't even realise they've noticed!!

MMR - we had the boosters and were due to have the MMR this week but cancelled due to poorly eyes. She's booked in again next week and I'll see the HV as it's half-term so it will be the first weigh-in since Nov. I want to get the MMR done asap now as she picks so much up at nursery that I really don't want her to get measles ...

Lovely to see your pictures - Daisy playing with the guinea pigs looks so cute :flower:. Gosh, that's a long one for me!!! Take care all x

Madi had her jabs today  She got them all in one, a jab in each arm and 1 in the leg. I was nearly crying so hubby held her, they stuck the jabs in her arms and she just held her breath and then they jabbed her in the leg. The poor wee soul looked at me like 'why are these people doing this too me and your just standing their not helping me' I felt so bad!! I just keep thinking to myself at least I don't need to take her back until she is 5

MNorbury, I have been trying what you suggested in one of your threads about buying a potty. I bought a cheap £1 potty and have been giving her nappy off time for about an hour before bed and trying to sit her on the potty. She hasn't pee pee in it yet and has peed on my carpet quite a few times but its been quite fun :haha:. Going to play some pull ups I think.

Having a great week so far, hubby and I are off work so try to take Madi to loads of different places.

Hi Vix , poor little Holly hope she feels better soon :hugs:

BB - Awww hope Madi is ok today :hugs: and glad you're having loads of fun :). I took Evie to a swim tots class on Tue (not been swimming for a few months so I was a bit worried) but she absolutely loved it, got all excited and splashed the whole half hour!

I've just realised (again!) that I STILL haven't banked Evies CTF voucher, I am so indecisive. Where did you ladies put yours and what kind of account did you choose and why? Thanks x

We havent cashed ours either. I think u only have until they are a year to cash it then the government pick an account for u. Sorry for short response messaging from my fone :haha:

I thought that too but on the actual cheque it says 7th March  x

Mnorbury - thanks, she is on the mend, but has been left with a horrid chesty cough.

We have our CTF with HSBC, but I am not impressed at all. The only correspondence we have had is one letter with the a/c no, no paying in slips, not included on our internet banking and a couple of mistakes in the setting-up process so wouldn't recommend them!

BB - wow, having a go at introducing the potty, sounds like fun, not sure we're quite ready at the moment but Holl hates wearing nappies so I guess the sooner I get on with it .... :haha: Hope Evie has recovered, we're due MMR on Tues but still thinking of postponing due to her poorly phase :nope:

Hi all!

I realised I hadn't banked the ctf voucher too then read the pack and it did say after a year it's banked for you but I haven't received anything yet!

Thanks for all of the ideas for desserts! I really did rely on yoghurt!
Ethan still loves banana and rice pudding best. I've started to buy the fruit puree packs I used to when he was little to flavour the rice pudding with and give him a bit more fruit! He has tried pear - I let it really ripen and he liked it. he's never been too keen on kiwi or strawberry but does love blueberry and raspberry although they're quite pricey at the mo. He has jelly as a one off but I'm a bit paranoid about that as it's not really nutritious! I did give him an ambrosia flavoured custard but then looked at the sugar and it's sky high! Considering steaming lots of fruit like when he was weaning and chopping into lumps or finger sticks and freezing so that I have a range in the freezer ready, what do you think ladies?

with main meals, have discovered frozen fish portions that take 4 mins in micro and steamfresh pouches of veg that take3.. Quick and nutritious meal!
Also started doing the bigger shells of baby pasta with peas and one of those heinz cook in sauces. We still eat too late for him to have what we have when we have it although we do freeze sometimes for him to have it at a later date e.g. with sunday lunch.
He's never been much of a finger fooder - he tends to try and shove it all in!!! He's recently taken an interest in holding the spoon so I think some long sleeved bibs and a splash mat are in order !!!

With sleep ladies, Ethan has always been quite good so my advice may be rubbish, but I've always found if he's not sleeping as well at night he's not getting enough in the day. Recently he started waking at 5:20 - 5:40 again last week and it was because he has been trying to drop his afternoon nap. This week from Sat I've not put him down for his nap until half 10 after his morning milk, and he's sleeping till 12 - half 12 and he's back now to waking at 6:30- 7:00. So, maybe try more sleep in the day?!

Hi girls,

Sorry not posted much lately, things have been mental the past few weeks. Ever since Madelyn had her jags she has been unwell. She had a temperature, runny nose and a cough for a few days after the jags and she still has a cough over a week later and they have now put her on antibiotics. I had the flu so bad so have been off work sick for a week and madi had her first day at nursery last week and she absolutely hated it
She has her second day tomorrow so lets hope things improve

:( sorry to hear you have been poorly, I hope the antibiotics help madelyn get better soon :hugs: hopefully tomorrow goes better for her, I can imagine its hard enough leaving her in the first place :(

Daisy was sick last night, shes never been sick before and it really worried me, typical all 3 of us were sick at the same time, thankfully starting to feel a bit better now but really worried about Daisy now she's in bed :( I take my hat off to people who have severe morning sickness, I barely coped today and it was only a one off!! x
