PCOS Buddies (10 BFP)

Yup the doctor did mention that. I'm still a little in denial about taking it. We hoped that we'd just conceive naturally without any medication. But it looks like that's not going to be the case (if we want this to happen sooner rather than later!). I'm not the typical PCOS type. I'm a healthy weight, regular periods, a few break outs here and there and slightly more body hair than the average with normal ultrasounds. My hormone levels are a little out but I know of people with severe PCOS who have fallen pregnant accidentally while taking antibiotics on the pill/skipping a pill/ntnp etc.

But if you want a bit of a laugh, Google "snowballs" and watch the YouTube video. It made my husband and I laugh this morning.

Well good luck to you then got nothing else to say.

Sarah2211- I have very similar PCOS symptoms to you, "normal" BMI, slight breakouts and maybe a little more body hair, and clear ultrasounds. I was on metformin through 12 weeks in my first pregnancy. On the flip side in my second pregnancy I was not on metformin and didn't have any PCOS related issues. However, I have had to use clomid to get pregnant both times. If my doctor would prescribe metformin I'd likely take it again just because it helped me feel a little bit of relief, did I notice a difference in anything? Not really. Currently I am on inositol and was when I conceived last time as well. I continued to take inositol during pregnancy as well.

Thanks so much Klabro. Glad to hear someone else in the same boat with a success story.

What do you mean by that GoldenRatio? Did I say something to offend you?

I'm not offended but I opened this thread so we can support each other and share experience about pcos. I was telling you about how metformin can help, and u are telling me how ur pcos is not like ours instead of just saying thanks lol if u don't have pcos or if u are still in denial then I'm not sure what u expect us to tell you. That's why I said I got nothing else to say.

I didn't think she meant it like that at all. She acknowledged that her doctor said what you told her. It seemed to me she was trying to say she was in denial about the fact that she was going to be needing to take meds to help her conceive, I think that is a pretty normal feeling, I know I went through it both times I got pregnant and feel that way again this time. I wish I were able to get pregnant on my own without the help of meds, absolutely. Also, my doctor used the exact phrase "you aren't a typical case of PCOS" when she described my PCOS to me so maybe that is why I got what she was trying to say. But then again who is the same when it comes to PCOS, different things work for all of us. Not trying to disagree with anyone, but I just didn't think what she said was offensive at all and trying to explain it how I saw it.

Thanks Klabro, that's exactly what I meant. It's just taking me a bit of time to come to the terms with needing to take medication to do something that us women are just meant to be able to do. It's a hard reality (which I think we probably have all experienced) to accept that we may not conceive naturally. I've had specialists involved in my health for as long as I can remember, I was just hoping that this might have been simple, silly me.

I too have been told I either don't have PCOS because of my physical presentation or told that I'm not the typical case or told that I had a mild case and should have no trouble conceiving. So of course, my expectation was that this would just happen with ease. My step sister, who I mentioned above, has severe PCOS and had no trouble conceiving.

I appreciate your advice and all the advice I've received here so far. Like Klabro said, I acknowledged that your advice was exactly what my doctor has said. I also believe I've given you some advice too.

It was never my intention at all to dismiss you or make you think that I thought I was some how better or different from you. I didn't expect anything and I'm sorry if I haven't been thankful enough for your advice. If you like Golden Ratio, I am happy to leave your thread if you do not want me here. My mistake for thinking this was a place to share your thoughts with similar people.

That's okey Sarah, I must misunderstood what u tried to say. To me it sounded like you are telling me that u are not like us and I should just take my pills and keep my advices to myself.

You can stay of course, it's not my thread I just opened it.

Hope you're all well ladies.

I'm hoping that my dr will give me metformin soon. My BMI is 26/27 and I'm not losing any weight despite eating better, exercising, drinking plenty of water and taking vitamins :( CD14 and no sign of anything happening yet. Had some sharp ovary cramps again. CM changed from dry to creamy so may be gearing up soon. OPK half darkness.

Really hoping this cycle isn't too long. Fed up after my 131 day one! Found out that my local tesco sells black cohosh in their herbal section so will buy it if no luck regulating this cycle.

Insoitol seemed very expensive when I googled it?

So this is my chart. I'm not sure if I've ovulated or not as I didn't get a positive OPK. The 4 higher temps on CD10-CD13 I wasn't sure if I should discard because DH had woken up before me and turned our heating up. If I discard them it still detects ovulation at CD17 but it does drop my cover line a bit. I was getting darker lines on OPK but not positive and now they are basically blank. Should I keep using them incase or do you think I have infact already ovulated this cycle?

I'm presuming FF is using the last day of EWCM +/- the spotting (ovulation spotting) as well as temp so it could be right if the OPKs have gone faint again. What day do you normally ovulate in your cycle? X

Since coming off the pill I've had a 34 and 32 day cycle. This is cycle 3. First cycle I didn't track and second I ovulated day 20 with a 12 day LP. I was hoping this cycle might be more 30 days as things settle into normal so today is CD23 and I still don't have a positive OPK but I haven't tested today yet.

Past 3 days I've had watery cm and today my ovary hurts. Cd13. Seems like inositol is doing something!

I'm 14 dpo. Had some brown spotting yesterday. Temp is still up and no AF.
I went to test again this morning with a clear blue compact and nothing showed up in the window!

My LP is usually 12 but one month it was 15 so FF is saying today is my testing day.

DH is getting annoyed and saying I'm being impatient. He thinks you shouldn't test until you're late.

I don't know what's going on. Could starting Metformin yesterday make me spot? If it wasn't for my high temp I'd say I was out for sure. Any ideas?

Edit: I tested again. DH has taken the dog for a walk. BFN :(

We have about the same bmi and I couldn't lose weight before either but metformin and pcos diet helps a lot, I lose at least a pound a week.
What kinda diet are u doing?

I don't eat sugar and dairy, also only eat gluten free. I think sugar is the main thing that makes me keep the weight. Also I do three times a week circuit training.

Inositol is expensive, almost $30-40 per month!

Also what vits are u taking? I noticed that I was gaining weight with prenatals

If I wanted to speak with my GP about trying some medication for PCOS where would I start? What would I be wanting to try first?

Metformin then clomid and if clomid doesn't work then they try femara. Also u can get ur progesterone check to see if that causes any problems. If nothing works then they will send u to fertility clinic for shots and stuff that i don't have much info about yet.

I'm taking wellwoman plus vitamins. My diet hasn't changed too dramatically - swapped from white to wholemeal carbs, eating less chocolate and no pastries (miss those!), drinking water/cordial instead of fizzy pop etc. I have an active job but only work 23hrs a week. Couch to 5k Running 2/3 times a week. Really hoping that I can avoid going gluten/dairy free as I don't think I could cope with that :/

Hi ladies. I'm still having close to positive OPK's almost every day over here, same as last cycle. Starting to get really impatient as I just want AF to come so that I can start the letrozole. Just feeling a little deflated Maybe thats a good sign AF is on her way, I'm overly emotional about it all.

On a side note-those looking into inositol, make sure you research myo-inositol and well as d-chiro. I do a blend of both and order myo-inositol in powder form off of amazon and it cost around $13 and lasts me about 2 months. I was only using myo-inositol when I got pregnant before and decided to add in some d-chiro-inositol this time just to see if it made a difference and got a bottle of 60 pills for around $13 on amazon (I take 1 a day). I haven't been taking that one for more than a couple weeks though.

I do as well. Well will be when the myo pills I have run out. Got a big tub of the myo powder and a small bottle of dci. Currently I do 3,000 myo and 160 dci daily. Not sure that low of a dose of dci does much, but time will tell. It brought on AF when I started it all so just waiting to see if/when I ovulate to know if it really helps.
