Piercing baby's ears

Lmao ^^^ this thread is insane

I'm sure she will resent me for a freckle sized scar & at the same time be the 1st little girl to hate earrings... I'm gonna be such a bad mom!

I wasn't referring to what do decide to do to your child.
I just know that "taking care" isn't enough to prevent scars, I have more than enough, proving my ridiculous theory.
If you bothered to read my first post, you would've seen that I had a look, found that there were no specific laws but suggested waiting till after jags.

I read your post, & thanked u! I was literally laughing cause of what you said about singing to them at night etc... It was funny.

I'm not worried about scars either! I have plenty of piercing scars as well but unless they're larger than a typical gauged earring they're close to invisible as I'm sure u know! Not upset by your comments at all.

Then I apologise to you. :winkwink:
I misunderstood.
Clearly not everyone finds it as amusing....
A lot of piercers take scarring quite seriously, don't know if the ones armed with the air gun do the same. :haha:
My piercer didn't like leaving scars on girls

EDIT: Don't think I'd let a teenager do it though, wouldn't let them near me !!
People get a hold of piercing equipment too easily, I nearly bought one to do the rest of my ears :haha:
Too pregnant to mutilate my body now.....

I had them done at only 2 weeks! I think it depends on the store and local regulations!!

Finally read through this thread. I guess I qualify for super chav too. Do I get a medal or sash? But I'm not from the UK, so I guess I can be the trailer park queen.

I had mine done when I was 6 or 7 years old I think, and I remember how it stung but the pain didn't last more than a couple minutes. I actually got them pierced at Walmart of all places! I rarely wear earrings now but am glad I do have my ears pierced for the occasions when I do want to wear some. I have no qualms about a baby having her ears pierced, I think it's adorable to see some cute little pink rhinestone studs! I'm not sure if there is a minimum age or not but I would probably wait until she's around 6 or 8 weeks at least.

Piercing the navel on the other hand, owie!! hehe I had that done at 23 years old and yee-owch! haha I know you wouldn't pierce your daughter's navel though, just comparing the pain of that to the pain of ear piercing lol. Ear piercing doesn't hurt that bad and honestly if you can do it without her remembering it, that seems better. If she doesn't like her ears pierced later on in life, it's a tiny little pink speck on her earlobe that probably no one will notice except her.

LOL!!!!!! Omg almost peed a little..

No harm done Tanni!!

I agree on teenagers doing it..yikes! Hoping my pediatrician will.

i got my ears pierced at 6 weeks old every girl in my family did.im glad i had it done that early. with my first daughter i wanted to get her ears pierced early and even though i was ok with it my husband and mother-in-law werent and so i let them have there way and said i would wait.then i waited till she was 1 and got them pierced and she pulled them out.i wish i would of did what i wanted and not listened to them cuz basically i wasted the money for nothing. the way i look at it what little girl doesnt want there ears pierced? i dont know any. so i dont think its bad to make the decision to get their ears pierced at a young age cuz they will probably just want it done later on anyways.

Hey, if they don't do it, you could one better than the teenagers and get your own gun, set up shop !!
Maybe stick a wee ad on here

LOL!!!!!! Omg almost peed a little..

^Have I still go this to look forward to then ??^

I've not quite got to that bit yet :haha:

Funny thing is, I have almost bought a piercing gun myself!!

And ohhhh yessss... I haven't completely let it out before, but come close. Also love when I laugh too hard & fart. So sexy.

If missfish didn't want any comments or peoples thoughts on piercing someones ears who can't make a choice she should have used google, asked in a chemist, emailed a piercer NOT on a forum.
Surely to god its obvious people will express their feelings on the subject?

I'll probably still get one, makes it cheaper to add to the collection :haha:

Wouldn't do the babies though, leave that to someone else, then there's some blame to be placing if it goes wrong !! :haha:

Awww goody !! Pee-laughs....
I do it the other way about, fart, then laugh hysterically
Pregnancy hasn't changed much for me other than I can't do anything "fun", turning round in bed's a b*stard and I'm generally in a better mood.

i honestly don't know what the big deal is with ear piercings?... wow.. some people are overly sensitive. having said that, my mom got my ears pierced when i was 6 weeks old right after my first tetanus shot. i looked like a little doll it was adorable lol. if i was having a girl damn straight her ears would be pierced as soon as it is allowed!

I was done very early (and thankful for it!!! I don't remember the hurt and my mom was in charge of cleaning them, heh!) I was no more than a few months old.

I am debating too, early like me, or use it as a very, very special gift to her later when she is a child. Hrm.

i got leilas done on her second birthday, she didnt play with them x

I had my daughters done at 2 months. They told me I had to wait until she was 2 months. That was in St. Louis, MO. I don't know if it is different in different places or not. I am very happy I did it then. She didn't cry or anything.

Good to know! Did u go to a claires type place in the mall, or somewhere else?

Just don't go to Claire's. I would have the pediatrician do it, or a piercer. The piercing guns are nasty and I worked there in high school. The only training we received was an audio cassette to listen to and a fake ear to pierce.

I had DD's done around 3 months I think. She is 8 now and doesn't like going without them.I think we will get this baby girls done around the same time.:flower:

I got Ava's ears done when she was 3.5 months old. We were told to wait about 2 weeks after her first shots. She cried for about 30 seconds but I think it was more from the noise then anything. Both ears were done at the same time with pre packaged one time use piercing guns at peoples. They were wonderful. I would have preferred having them done with the needle but everywhere I went would not use the needle on a baby under 2 as they could not do both ears at once.

She is now 10 months old and has never played with them, never had an infections, nothing. I think they look super cute and dont feel bad for getting them done.

Its a personal choice and to have them done was my choice. To each their own.

I can't advise on an age and I'm having a boy, but I personally would have rather had mine done as a baby instead of going through 3 attempts later on all leading to horrific infections. Finally the fourth attempt when I was 16 stuck, infection free. Good luck in whatever YOU decide =)

Where I used to work the baby had to be 6months old. My friend got her babies ears piereced at Walmart at age 3 months. i guess it depends on the place?

My mom did the same to me. I think it's adorable I plan to ask DH how he feels about it ang go from there. :flower:

slight hijack.... but luckyone09, I love your avatar!! How cute!

As for the rest of the posts, yall are making me giggle uncontrollably, with the peeing and farting when you laugh, oh my... my LO made me fart the other day, don't know how that happened? LOL (at least that's what I tell DH )
