Hi ladies
Was just diagnosed with this on Monday- bile levels were at 85 and supposed to be less than 30?
Anyway, I'm 34 weeks and not sure when they'll induce but the itching is making me so crazy I could cry!

And now I've read back a bit I'm freaking out a little as my levels seem awfully high???

Hi ladies!

I believe I have OC, but due to a severe reaction to needles my OBGYN couldnt test for it, she suggested taking anti-histomines (sp?) but they didnt help.

during 3rd tri i have torn my arms, my legs - especially behind the knees), back of my hands, and down my sides - but not my belly or boobs,- to pieces, I have broken the skin scratching and have got scars all over.

I thought the itching would stop when baby was born, but im still itching like mad on my arms and now my back and still my sides, but not so much on my legs anymore.

If im still itching at my post-partum visit i'll mention it to my OBGYN again but theres not really much she can do I guess without a blood test which is impossible.

This is making me so miserable too :(

Kellycool, They are high, mine were 90 by the time I had rowan. Did they put you on urso? Also they recommend induction at 37 weeks here.
Use cooling gel for sports injuries to help the itching. Weird I know but it will catch you a few z's

Hey Lola
Yep but only on 600mg a day? Just so confused.Feel so yellow all the time, itching is insane at night but more on my chest and arms than hands and feet.
Got my liver scan tomorrow and I'm sure they'll do bloods too but will be the first time I'm having bloods checked since 7 ddays ago which doesn't feel right?

I was on 1000 mg (500 mg twice a day), but im not sure how much it has proven to help anyways.

i would not worry about frequent bloods, i think once they put you on the urso, there really isnt much they can do about the OC by then. I have done a lot of research on this subject, and they reccomend doing non stress test fetal monitoring twice a week until induction. have they discussed that with you?

My first came at 35 weeks, i think due to the cholestasis, and my OB didnt treat the OC at all, told me i had to ride it out.

i was diagnosed at 8 weeks during this pregnancy, and im going to a high risk doctor. im taking it seriously!

i hope it works out for you!

I've only just seen this thread!

I was diagnosed with OC at 22 weeks, I just went to see the MW on the off chance as I had a bit of a fainting episode. I mentioned about the itching I'd been having so they done a blood test. I got a phonecall later that afternoon to say my bile acids were 153! I had to go straight into hospital to get some tablets and more bloods done in a few hours they rose from 153 to 164 and my ALT was 54.

After much deliberation over the last few weeks about whether I have it or not I have now officially been diagnosed as having it as my levels started rising again. My levels are currently 16 for bile acids and 33 for ALT. They like bile acids to be under 10 and ALT under 30 here. I am now having weekly blood tests and fetal monitoring and I have a scan to check baby's growth and fluid tomorrow. I've been told I will be having regular scans and that they will induce me between 37 and 38 weeks x

thats what happened to me with my son i had it with my DD but not as bad did u dind u had it with your previous? they say its usually worse with boys x

No I never had it in previous pregnancies. They were very surprised that I had it because I was only 22 weeks when it all started and all the kids have the same dad too.

Scan last week was fine, babies actually measuring bigger than he should be for his dates. Had my ECG and bloods done on Monday, ECG was good, bloods not so good. Bile acids have risen to 21 and ALT is at an all time high of 74 for me (most its been is 54) and I'm taking urso  got another scan on Monday after my bloods and ECG and also will see the consultant and go from there. Fingers crossed they aren't still rising as there's nothing they can do but the urso tablets! X

Hey....anybody help me....im itching so bad im only 13 weeks :( I havent changed anything since pregnant.

I phoned midwife and she said if im still like it in a week coams' in and do bloods for cholestasis....so im ringing her this monday again....im scratching so much on my legs im getting red bumps come up....i started scratching first then the bumps came after :( its horrible....ca sumone give me sum advice please....im using cream and having cold baths....im was like this in last pregnancy but neva mentioned it to midwife x

There's nothing else you can do hun. You'll just have to wait till you've had your bloods done and if it is cholestasis they will put you on piriton and urso tablets which should help :hugs: x

Hello anybody help me?....i had a bile acid test done had results back they was a <2 so thats fine right? My hositals range is from 0-6.....guess im just wondering cause im still itchy and was wondering if they could go up as only 14 weeks.....or does this sound certain its not cholestasis and just normal itching? Thanks x

It sounds like normal itching hun. Bile acids need to be over at least 10 along with high liver function to be classed as having cholestasis :hugs: x

I have this too itching was driving me insane so i has a blood test my bile levels wer 57 been in for monitoring twice a week and been on urso they got right down to ten but have started to rise again now at 20 got to be induced at 37 weeks not fun !!!

I've been fairly itchy for the last 2 weeks or so, my hands and feet are definitely the worst, especially in the evenings and the first hour or two when I wake up in the morning.
I had my blood tested last week and it came back negative for OC, but I'm being tested again this week.

Hope induction goes well mummymcavoy.

My bile acids were 164 when I was first diagnosed, they're pretty low at the mmoment and have stayed uunder 20 more or less. My ALTs were 77 at their highest they've stayed uunder 30 since then.

Pixie fingers crossed your bloods come back ok again, it does sound like OC though. Let us know what happens when they come back x
