I would keep an eye on it and if it gets worse get it checked out (whether your hands and feet start itching or not). I too had itching all over (it did include my hands and feet) but, it won't hurt to get it checked.

Memphis I'm 36 weeks this Wednesday and noticed i was being itchy all over, itching is really mild and not having it much on my hands and feet. I posted a thread yesterday as was not aware of this sticky thread. I went to see my OB and now tomorrow I will be getting bloods checked just incase. If your feeling itchy I wouldn't wait 3 weeks but go get checked and get them to give you the relevant blood tests for peace of mind.

So I got in today and just had my bloodwork drawn but the bile salts will take 2 weeks. Dr wants me to start on Urso now even before getting results which I am not very comfortable with. I really dont think I for sure have OC as my itching is mainly chest neck and sides and scalp a bit with little to none on hands and feet as of yet. (Some on hands a couple days ago). Did anyone else have to start the meds before getting the results back? I am 26 weeks tomorrow to be exact...

I got my results within an hour. Why do you have to wait 2 weeks? The urso tablets aren't harmful so there's no harm in taking them.

My itching to start with was in my scalp (thought I had had lice but my hairdresser checked and said it was clear) and then on the bottom of my leg near my ankle. I didn't really get itchy feet till the day after I found out x

Memphis your itching sounds like mine, I'm itching on my scalp and neck and back rather than feet & hands.
2 weeks? Wow that's a long time my doc should have my results I would say the latest by tomorrow ( I'm going in for bloods now) I may not get results till my next appointment on Tuesday unless its urgent and they phone me.
Not sure about the side effects of the medicine, I would have thought you would only be prescribed medicine if they new for sure you had OC and if you did how HIGH your levels were, ESP if your itching is not extreme where you are making your self bleed or anything! maybe check out the side effects of tabs or get doc to chase your results.

I got my ALT, AST , ALK phos and bili liver levels back and they are normal but the bile salts will take 2 weeks (Ive called 2 different places to check). I used an anti itch body wash in the shower and felt hardly itchy after but I guess I still have a bit now but I just dont feel like it is bad enough or in the right places to be OC. I definetly want to rule it out and if all comes back normal will make sure to have it all repeated in a couple weeks to be sure but think I will hold off on the medicine till I get the bile salts results (unless it gets worse and then I will take them for sure). I just have already been on Macrobid for a UTI and Bactrum for potential pneumonia (along with a chest xray) all before 26 weeks and feel like I dont want to feed baby anything else unless really necessary

If your ALT is normal I'm guessing your bile salts will be too. It's starting to sound like you just have general itching. Good luck for the results x

Hi Memphis, that's great all your other results are normal! fingers crossed so will the bile results.
I'm 36 weeks tomorrow - my results should be in tomorrow or by this Thursday.
I will deffo let you know the out come of my results.
Also great idea even if all results clear best to get checked again if itchiness continues.

*update* my OB called today with my results ( i missed the call so he called my hubby)
All my results are normal, OB said nothing to worry about, if itching persists or gets worse will get re-tested again next week. Since yesterday I have been using Cetaphil body wash & coco butter cream and its made a huge difference. I get the odd itch on my arm or neck but its nothing out if the norm. My next OB appointment is next Tuesday so will monitor if I itch & how much and speak to doc about it. I'm just glad my OB is happy to re-check and will be keeping a closer eye in me and have me my results the next day. Will update if anything changes.

Great news! They do say that just changing hormones can make us itchy... Let us know if anything changes. I have been using an anti itch body wash and lotionfrom Aveeno and it seems to help though my head is still pretty itchy and still itchy here and there over the day. I spoke with my OBGYN and he said it was ok not to take any meds till he sees me next Thursday so that is what I will do unless it gets alot worse.

Yea, hopefully it's just our hormones causing us to itch & nothing serious! But at least we can be extra careful now and monitor the itching. If I'm still itching till my next appointment I am going to get blood work done again.

Woke up after feeling really itchy, this is the worst it's been, itchy feet & hands and some on my back! Had to get up & apply some lotion to calm it down. Hubby even woke up, I told him although my results were negative, I could still have the problem as sometimes it shows up later on the blood results. How soon can I get blood tests done to see if levels have risen? I'm 37 weeks next week and ideally we would want baby out before hand if I do have OC, I can then speak to my OB and scedhule another blood test. I'm still itchy so it seems to have got worse

Hello ladies! I'm due July 7th and I had blood work done last week on Monday. I told the doctor I had been really itchy and she had me do the blood work. She called me back and told me my tests came back abnormal and that I had something that some women get when they are pregnant that has to do with their liver. The itchiness was one of the symptoms. When I googled itchiness and liver problem during pregnancy Cholestisis in pregnancy is what came up. Is this what I could possibly have?

If you have itchiness without a rash it's called "obstetric cholestasis" here in oz, in other countries they call it " Intrahepatic cholestasis"
Did your doc tell you how high your levels are or make a plan to monitor you? My results came back NEGATIVE but I'm still itching😄, it's got worse and waiting for my OB to call me back,
