*Please Read* Obstetric Cholestasis

Like Natty mine was all over my body particularly my legs ... I actually had raw skin on my legs where I'd scratched so much before I knew I had OC!

Any itching at all it's best to just get checked out x

Thanks so much for the input, girls. I've been putting coconut oil on, and it's almost gone, so I think it's just a skin issue. I have a doctor's appointment on the 11th anyway, so I'll be sure and ask about it then.

I think pregnancy makes me a bit of a hypochondriac... every new possible complication I hear of, I start thinking "do I have that?" Better safe than sorry though with these ones that can have serious effects if left untreated.

I am sooo miserable right now! Waiting for labs to come back, but based on symptoms I can guarantee I have OC. I only wish I'd realized that itching this badly wasn't normal. I just figured it was related to swelling. :( I've barely slept in days at this point, and as I'm 37 weeks today I'm really scared about waiting for the bile salts level to come back. I hope they just take baby boy today. After already having a late loss I'm terrified of losing him over this

:hugs: I'm sure your little boy will be fine! How long until they know the results? I'm sure they were rushed because of how far along you are.

Got my c-sec date yesterday! They said they would NOT be letting me go past 37 so it's scheduled for Nov 5th at 7:30! I cannot wait for the itching to be over with and to know my little pumpkins are safe and sound!

Good news, you now have a date. Will you be monitored for the next few weeks?

Yea, I get weekly biophysicals to make sure they're doing ok and a growth scan at 35w. I had a growth scan last Monday and they believe A is about 5 lbs and B is 4 so they should be at good weights when they're born. On top of that I see my Dr every week as well. I feel very well taken care of :haha:

Pleased to hear that! Good luck and look forward to hearing about their arrival :)

The LFTs came back yesterday and were fine. The bike salts could be there as early as today. Really hoping they're ready sooner rather than later. Now on top of it I'm being ruled out for preeclampsia again. Either way I'll probably be delivered today.

Confirmed my diagnosis of cholestasis today. C-section in the am!! I'm looking forward to meeting my baby boy and being rid of this itching soon!!

I have two questions:

1. Have any of you mamas had gall bladder issues AND cholestasis during pregnancy? Last pregnancy my cholestasis began literally right after I got out of hospital for a gall bladder attack and I wonder whether they're related.

2. Have any of you had more than one pregnancy? How many did you have cholestasis during? I had it in my first pregnancy and now that I'm pregnant again I am praying that I won't get it!

I had it in all three of my pregnancies.

Had my c-section Tuesday. Ronan is a healthy boy and my itching is almost gone today! Super excited all around! He was in NICU through 10 am Wednesday, but we both were doing so well we got to come home today ahead of schedule!! I wish you all the best of luck!

I had it in all three of my pregnancies.

I've had it in both mine. Started slightly earlier this time around. There is a 90% chance of reoccurrence in subsequent pregnancies....

Hi everyone!

I hope you don't mind me asking, what made you get checked out for obstetric cholestasis? I've noticed I've been fairly itchy the past few nights, I'm sat typing and having to stop every couple of words to itch!

Were there any other signs or symptoms?

Thank you in advance! :)

Dark urine....bad mood (but could have been the lacl of sleep due to the itching)

My symptoms were itching starting in my hands and feet, severe enough to disrupt my sleep and very dark urine . My midwife described it as scarlet. For me the itching gets progressively worse and spreads until I start on the urso.

I just got tested today, anxiously waiting the results.

I'm not itchy on my hands or feet, but pretty much everywhere else. Especially my face and neck! No amount of lotion soothes.
I've also been extremely tired the past few days, to the point where walking across the house leaves me breathless and wishing for a nap.
My urine is dark and stools are light.
My morning sickness has also started coming back.

Really hoping the results come back quickly and that it's good news! I'm trying not to worry.

Katerdid - what were your results?

I had tests yesterday, i saw the midwife and mentioned that i'd been having severe itching. She said that 26 weeks is normally too soon to have OC, but sent me for tests anyway. Rang the hospital this morning and they said that my ALT levels are slightly raised and they will get a doctor to call me today to discuss....anyone had this??
