I'm looking for buddies who might share the same story...
32, on the pill for a decade, went off OCP in Jan 2011, yet 6 months later - still no period!
am disappointed with my body (!!) for misbehaving like this... trying to come to terms with whatever the reason might be, exploring naturopathy, acupunture, and anything else that might help...
do you have a similar story? i need a friend amongst the madness. all my friends are pregnant / onto their second / etc etc...
i would love to hear from you if you have any advice / would like to share stories and hopefully work towards a BFP! (first attempt at lingo!)
:)

Babyduck - I so know how you feel,
Every time I came off BCP I would land up at the doc's a few months later saying 'still no period!!!' I have resorted to reflexology to bring mine on!!! not only does it work but it is also a brilliant way to just chill and relax!!!!
Oh I am Carla. 35 years, my best friend is 18 weeks with #2!!!
I will be your buddy!!!
:hugs:

Hi babyduck :hugs:

I need a buddy too!

Slightly different circumstances I was on depo rather than bcp but same so sign of AF!
I was taking Agnus castus and evening primrose oil to try and bring on my AF but today I went to my Gp who prescribed primolut to bring on AF. So fingers crossed :)

Hi there, i was in the same position as you! came off pill (microgynon) in july 2009 afetr 10 years....thought woudl get PG first month....but had to wait until october 10 to get a period! The doctor was just useless ('stop stressing, it will come' grrrrr) so started acupuncture and that seems to be working, am now very regular, but still with no BFP :(
i totally understand how stressed you must be but just know that your body will get back to normal again, it just may take time. in the meantime i would recommend acupuncture to help relieve stress and get things flowing again.

I am in the same boat- 31 came off birth control and have had really long cycles now after nothing for months. I get my bloodwork back today on my hormone levels and am nervous for the results to come in.

Hello all - would love to be buddies with you ladies. 26, came off cerazette in Dec2010, first period april'11, another one 41 days later in May (thinking I was getting somewhere!) and now 63DPO and BFNs all the way! My GP has also advised it could take anything upto a year to sort itself out and like some of you said suggests 'relaxing, doing nothing and letting it sort itself out'. while i see the merits - I AM IMPATIENT! grr... I am also going to start having acupuncture to see if it will help, it'll certainly chill me out!

I found an old box of cerazette and interestingly there is no info in the product leaflet about what you can expect coming off cerazette. there is very little on their website. The consumer-rights gal in me wonders whether we would have any grounds in pushing them to publish this kind of info, because if I knew this I'm not sure I would have wanted to go on it and certainly won't be going back on it between children!

Is anyone already working with their doctor or is everyone going with a wait and see approach for things to come back to normal? I am impatient and don't want to wait but don't want to be rushed into taking anything quite yet either.

My situation is a little different as I had a mirena coil removed on 21 March 2011. My doc said as I am 35 now, to try naturally for the next 6 months and if nothing happens to go back to her. So if nothing happens in the next cycle - looks like the witch is about to get me - I will visit my doc by October.

I would strongly advise reflexology fo starting periods - works every time for me!!!
Within a 48 hours of reflex I start bleeding!!!

I'm in the same boat. 29 years, BCP for 11 years, still waiting for first AF 16 months later. I would strongly recommend hassling the GP for hormone tests if you have not had the first period after 6 months, because that is the point when it would indicate its more than just post-pill amenorrhea. I know cycles can be long for the first year, but sometimes you just know it's not right. I went to the GP after 6 months and glad I didn't delay any longer because its taking a while to fix.

Just remember you don't need af to be ovulating x came of depo end of Feb bfp two weeks ago which ended in a chemical unfortunately. The bleeding after was the only bleed I have had since coming of the jab x

Thanks Kaylami - I'm sure we can make it through this! What is primolut?? My GP has referred me to a Gyne (second appointment with them on Thursday), and has been lovely but only handballed me to blood tests and the specialist...

Good luck - hope it all works for you soon! Keep in touch

Righto, I'll investigate the reflexology - I've tried it twice.... once while in Vanuatu - absolutely amaaaaaazing, then once here (Australia) and I was so disappointed - no good! You've inspired me to try again... I'll investigate and find another reflexologist!

I'm 32, one bestie is 11 weeks with #2, the other (by contrast!) has just met a new man who is very reluctant to practice making babies... and here I am with a gorgeous hubby, but no periods... the three musketeers indeed! Fantastic to hear that the reflexology brought all that balance back and you get the benefits of relaxation... my acupuncturist is wonderful, but no luck yet... gyne appt in a few days so perhaps that will reveal something new?

take care and keep me posted!!!:hugs:

hiya shoefay! i know... relax... relax and it will come! i think I'm getting better at it. Am actively trying to reduce stress at work!
I've been getting acupuncture and chinese herbs since late march, it's been great... really great treatments, and my energy has improved heaps. but still waiting on aunt flo!!
so great to hear that you are back on track - will keep my fingers crossed for you!! :flower:

Good luck court27!!!!!! may the hormones be with you!!
let me know how you go. I'm getting hormone level results back on thursday too - not quite sure how i'm feeling about it...
last time my levels were present, but low... hopefully this time i've made inroads and my brain has kicked into gear!

hey there -
i know what you mean... how naive i was to blindly keep taking those bloody pills every morning, without sparing a thought for my poor body and thinking that i would get pregnant in a minute once i was off the BCP!!! i certainly don't remember any warning from the GP when i got the original prescription...
anyway, try the accy, because i too have been tarnished by the impatient brush - and, as i'm sure you might know, the ups and downs of battling with 'fertility/infertility' can be tamed by a few well-placed needles!
good luck... keep us posted!

Thanks Woob - will get my hormone results on Thursday, let's hope there is some movement at the follicles!!! It's so strange not having an AF though... I'll keep investigating... are you taking any natural supplements / prescriptions??

CD79 as of when i sleep and wake up, i have been miserable but starting to lol at myself over it. i am seeing the brighter side, my dr's are taking me serious and not making me wait til a year (i am 4 months off the bcp tomorrow) i have had cd21 bloods, have cd3 bloods booked but obviously cant get them done till AF arrives, have a lap and dye booked HOPEFULLY for august 16th (waiting to hear back from private heath fund, i may have to wait until after october if decide not to cover me for it till then) and my ob/gyn has said if all is good with the lap and dye and still no regular AF then he will put me on clomid. i have an appointment with a endocrinologist august 24th to look into pcos/too much male hormones.
I have endometriosis so the ONLY good thing about the missing :witch: is no horrid period pains and my specialist told me this is good for my insides LOL

Hey babyduck -
You are sooo lucky living in Aus where you have 'easy' access to gyn's. Living in UK, they make it sooo difficult to see gyn's unless I go private - then really expensive!!!
Make the most of the gyn appointments.
I suppose having a really supportive doc is a good thing for me - she said if nothing happens in 6 months to visit her again!!! That was end of March 2011 - so another 2 months - if nothing will visit her!
:dust:

Second appt today at the gynaecologist revealed polycystic ovaries (but not PCOS). Hormone levels improving, but still not high enough FSH to get things cracking!
The bluntness of my gynaecologist was astounding but well-intended... "Do you want to get pregnant?" My hesitation surprised me! If I'm thinking ideal date, then it would be mid-year 2012... but hey, can beggars be choosers? I'd just love to ovulate at this point in my life and know that things are 'in order!' Had a second scan for peace of mind which revealed my lazy follicles just hanging out, not really bothered in relocating....
So.. backed up the appointment with a trip to the naturopath, and she was pleased with the latest hormone test results. However, beefing up the herbs and got some formulas, along with the angus castus, iron, pre-natal vitamins, and a few other bits and pieces.
I've got a reflexology appointment booked at the same fertility clinic in a few weeks - and plan on trying out a mayan abdominal massage for sh*ts and giggles... gotta laugh my way through this or i might cry! (also booked in for a counselling session too!)

How's everyone else going today? May the BFNs be coming thick and fast!

Well my hormone tests all came back normal which is good- the bad part is I still have very long cycles with little explanation. We are going to wait a couple of more cycles and if something doesn't change then I will go in for more testing, have my husband go in for testing and then start on clomid. I am hoping for a regular cycle this month even though it is unlikely
