Hi Im a rather large lady, im 2 stone heavier than I was at the beginning of my first 2 pregnancies & a stone lighter than I was at the end!!
Im nervous & slightly disappointed with myself, I was told I had polycystic ovaries (not syndrome) Due to obesity & needed to lose weight to ovulate & fall pregnant, I started going to gym 2-3 times a week but didnt really change my diet hence didnt lose weight but my periods returned & within 2 months I was pregnant! Me and hubby r over the moon but I cant help but worry, is anyone in a similar boat?
Im wondering if im even going to show this time around & hoping I dont gain too much more weight! Im still going to the gym & im going to speak to the midwife about joining slimming world when I eventually see her!
Anyways I dont want a lecture from anyone just hoping to meet ladies in a similar situation so I have someone to chat too! :)
Sorry for the long post! xx :hugs:

Hi hun, I am in the US and was heavier when we conceived about 284 and then we conceived first cycle no issues, no issues with me during the pregnancy but due to hospital neglect lost our son at 31 wks. I am now about 14 pounds heavier then where I was with my first pregnancy :( I know once I give birth i will need to seriously work on getting down, I want to get down to 250 and then eventually to about 190-200. I am goin to talk to my doctor to see what calorie range I should be at and do a food diary this pregnancy. Luckily last pregnancy I only gained 25 pounds....

I can say that even with being heavy I was healthy, no high blood pressure, no GD so please don't worry and enjoy your pregnancy. It can be hard, I find many doctors to not be nice when it came to my weight! Esp. when I tried so hard to not give in to my cravings and maintain...grrr!

I did show though, just a bit later then others :)

Hi thanks for ur reply & im so sorry for ur loss :hugs: Cant begin to imagine how awful that must of been..xx

Im not sure when u have scans over there but here its about 12 & 20 weeks, did u need more than usual with ur last pregnancy? Im not sure what to expect from the midwife, I know I wont b able to use the birthing centre at our hospital though :-(

How r u feeling with this pregnancy? I haven't had many symptoms but my boobs seem to have doubled in size over night!!

Hello! I am plus sized too! I weigh 253 (before conception and currently) and I'm about 5'9". I also have PCOS and went to a specialist to conceive. Although he encouraged weight loss ( I lost about 5 lbs), I was able to get pregnant with Metformin, Pioglitazone, and 2.5mg of Femara. I'm still taking the Metformin throughout pregnancy.

So far, my blood pressure looks good and I'm having a healthy pregnancy. My blood test showed my progesterone and iron is a little low, but it's fixable.

I'm also concerned about how much weight I will gain. Although everything on the internet tells me I shoudl gain between 11 and 25 lbs, my dr. said 20-35 lbs is okay.

I have already been looking at plus size maternity clothing on the internet as I can imagine that being a problem in the future.

I also wonder how long it will be before I start to show. I posted my first pic this morning in my pregnancy journal so that way I will know for sure when there will be a bump show up!

They made me a higher risk patient I believe due to my weight and I am 32 years old. This was fine as I got more scans and more opportunities to see little one. To be honest after the loss of my son I want the highest level care of the hospital I can get. Our son passed trying to get to a hopsital that was able to help him, he went into heart failure and the initial hospital I went to missed the cord being wrapped around him

Best advice I have is have maternity clothes waiting to be worn...nothing like wearing something that doesn't fit quite right, including underwear!! lol

This pregnancy I did notice right away bigger boobs! ha

Hello!
I am also a plus-size future mama...I used to weigh in at 342 (the heaviest i've ever been) with no issues with me other than a blocked R tube (periods were clockwork, ovulation right on the money, etc)...I dropped about 65 pounds since January, down to about 275 on my scale (the one at my ob's office weighs me at about 4 lbs heavier, but im not going to quibble over that)...we turned up pregnant after our 2nd IUI with monitoring to make sure the left was ovulating.. and my dr said about 20ish pounds would be ok for me (ive put 2 on in just boobs, my husband swears it)...the only real medical issues i have are Narcolepsy and Barretts esophagus, which means i wasnt having caffiene/coffee/soda/any of the things they tell you to try to avoid :haha:

bascially i just walked 30 minutes every day, and controlled my portion size...im still doing both, but adding in my extra 300-500 calories each day (unless i have a CRAVING...omg :dohh:)

Ive found most of my plus size maternity clothes (which i have set aside) at thrift stores, and ive been looking into motherhood maternity, jc penney, old navy, etc...and just buying a size larger in tops and pants depending on the cut, etc...

Congrats to everyone and Castaway, sorry for your loss :hugs:

Congratulations to both of u by the way!
Im also 5'9 & im around 240lb & a uk size 20, where I stretched my maternity clothes out so much with my last they actually still fit me so if I can try and just gain bump and nothing much else (Ha!) im hoping I wont have to buy much except underwear as my maternity bras r too small :-(

At my last docs appointment before I fell pregnant my blood pressure was good so hoping it will stay that way too!

Wow melly thats amazing! Wish I had ur will power!!

Thanks :)

After baby I am going to work on losing weight. I would like to get down to at least 250 before my next pregnancy...That is like a size 16 for me :) US sizes of course...

US size 20 here! I never really thought about having to have new underwear. I guess my butt and hips may get wider! lol.

My butt got much bigger, I went up only one size in the underwear, then went up one more size for recovery and bought the old lady briefs just in case I had a c section!

Mine didnt really set in until we had our first scan (early, due to fertility drugs) at 6wks 6 days...its still kind of surreal to me still, probably until my next scan on the 2nd of October (which we are going to use the pictures from to tell my parents and his the news!) Congrats! :happydance:

Hi ladies, I'm plus size. Weight at booking was 108kg (238lbs for you American ladies!). I've always been a big girl and struggle enormously trying to lose weight but I've decided that this pregnancy I'm not going to let it get to me. I'm waiting for my 12 week scan to really start arguing with my mw about why I can't have a home birth :)
Nice to meet you all - h&h 9 months :) xx

Once again, I find this thread pops up ... every single time I've been in first tri, there has been a thread like this. Funny how we worry ;)

With DD1 I weighed 235 lbs (107 kg) when I fell pregnant. I didn't ovulate naturally and it took us 14 months, during which I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on metformin, to fall pregnant. My pregnancy was picture perfect, text book all the way through.

With DD2 it took us 8 months to fall pregnant, again with the help of PCOS but this time only because I had a miscarriage a few months before and the midwife suggested it might help. Once again I weighed 235 lbs (107 kilos), and once again I had the text book perfect pregnancy AND home birth!

Onto my 3rd child now, can you guess my weight? ;) If you said 235 lbs (107 kilos), you're correct. It seems to be the magic number for me to fall pregnant. That's roughly a size 20 / 22 btw. No medication this time at all, and as you can tell from my ticker DD2 is only 10 months old. Didn't really try this time around, simply didn't stop anything from happening. Didn't think it would happen so soon though, as I'm still breastfeeding and my periods only returned a month before falling pregnant.

As for showing, you WILL show. I'll add a photo of me at 21 weeks with DD2, and full term with DD2 (she was born at 41+6)

Hi erised! I think I remember you from the pregnancy boards when I was having DD2 - cant believe you've squeezed in one and another on the way since then!!! Congratulations :) x

Erised- You had a cute bump! I hope mine looks like that! When do you think you STARTED to show with your 2 kids?

Hey ladies I am plus sized as well! :D

Over the last 3 years has been when I really gained weight.. I never used to be bigger, but have gained about 50 lbs in 3 years :( I currently weigh 185 lbs. Its scary because they say when your plus you can only gain a little weight.. so that really has been stressing out! Hope to lose lots of weight after the baby.
Good luck ladies..

Curves are beautiful too :D

Yeah, I guess you could say I am. I lost about 3 stone last year and was almost at my goal weight. I went from 14 stone to 11 stone (I'm 5'5"). Unfortunately, I've gained almost all of it back so I'm now fat again :(

Pregnant and plus size also weighing in at 219lbs about size. 16 US.

I am super concerned about my baby's health and my own through pregnancy, particularly of gestational diabetes.

On a different but related note - do you feel heavier and less attractive since becoming pregnant? I am 5 weeks and I feel very Unattractive and take it incredibly personally that hubby has zero interest in sex.
