I was reading about the effects of too much iron and now i am concerned about taking the prenatals before i am pregnant. I do want to take them so i can be healthy for baby when it finally happens but my prenatals have 158% daily value of iron and I get a lot of iron from food like orange juice and things. Do you think its safe have any of you had any problems?

I haven had any issue.
If you are concerned switch to a normal Multi vitamin and then take folic acid on the side

Women loose iron with every AF, and therefore tend to run on the low side. It's men, or kids, who don't loose blood regularly that usually risk OD on iron. My Hubby actually came up low enough on iron on his physical that the doc scribed him iron pills - that he refused to take. He doesn't have any symptoms of being anemic, so I didn't stress over him not taking "rust pills" (yes they literally looked like tablets of rust).
Iron deficiency can be a fertility problem though.
I take Geritol with 100% dv iron and don't stress over it since women tend to run low and I am having long term fertility issues. Your doc can run blood tests on it, since you're likely doing fertility related bloods maybe just ask that the lab check the iron levels too? That's my plan anyway
