Quad screening positive for down syndrome

So made the decision to go ahead and do the amnio. Feel pretty good about the decision. I cannot stop worrying about it! I will have it done this Wednesday . Pray for baby to be good and still at the amnio and for good results:). Thank you to all you ladies that replied:). I will post my final results when I get them:).

Good luck. It will be nice for you to know and not have to worry anymore.

good luck hun! Although you know it won't make you love your child any less it can help so much just to be prepared for either way. Your odds are good and I have total faith your baby will be fine :D. I have a mentally and physically disabled sister after an injection incident at 10months old and I know my mam and dad would have wanted to be prepared but it didn't quite work like that! lol...my sister is now 22 (after being told she wouldn't live to being 5) and although she doesn't understand what's going on she is happy! And my older sisters life nor mine suffered in any way shes a blessing! (I even have a tattoo dedicated to her). The amnio will help rest your mind and help you prepare for you perfect bouncing bundle of joy! xx

Thank you so mcuh ladies for all you comments:). It is a hard decision. But it took us so long to finally be able to conceive that Not having this baby is not an option. We are hoping for a normal baby but we will keep our eyes on the ultrasounds and if we start to see abnormalities we will try to do our best to research and be more informed about what is necessary to help us become a better parents of a ds baby. I have a feeling that everything will be okay. Just have moments when I panic a little:). And again after seeing so many people having a false positive result for this test I have 94 out of 1 chances of having a normal baby. I will keep you all posted on the progress. When our baby comes out and it is normal I will definetely would skip this test!! It just makes you stressed out! This baby will be loved either way:).

I am wishing you a happy and healthy baby! :hugs: I am from the first trimester :::lurking here::: lol but we discussed this subject before so I copied and paste my response here for you...for the ultrasounds I had the only thing I heard a lot was that the baby's limbs "arms" were always like a week smaller than the rest of her body but they always dismissed it as an error..but that is the only thing I ever heard.

Here is my response :

I did the test simply because my doctor told me it was best to know to be prepared..I would never terminate so I guess I took it as a way to be prepare, you would still be shocked but the more you know about something the better. My test came back normal no high risk at all, nothing! I was on my early 20's but my pregnancy was high risk to miscarriage so I had a lot of Ultrasounds and everything was coming along just fine...Here comes the day of the delivery and what do you know? My little one had down syndrome! I was not shocked, I was not devasted I loved her the moment I knew she was there...she has truly changed my life for the better, made me trying to be a better person. Some people can't deal with it others can that's understandable. this time around my chances are higher but I will be skipping the test lol no point at all. This is her at 3 years old I dont have an older one online.

Hi

Sorry to hear your going through that. I had to have amnio as if my baby had downsyndrome it would be unlikely to survive birth (my baby had hydrops) and have to say all in all I didnt find the amnio too bad but then again my baby is fine and was obviously one of the 99.5 that didnt miscarry xxx

Im only 23 (yesterday) and with my 1st child i had the odds of 1 in 120 which got me so nervous. My baby is totally fine. I would say your odds are quite good and don't worry yourself too much:hugs:

Just have to add,she is so gorgeous!!

You ladies are just wonderful! I cannot wait to go for my amnio on Wednesday!
Lucky break: your little girl is so cute:). She just looks like a real fairy:). God bless you and your family.

Alot of people's come back positive and a lot of those babies are born normal. Just consider that, that test isnt very accurate. I know plenty of people who were told their baby was going to have downs syndrome and they were born completely normal.

Also I believe the odds 1:94 means that of the women who gave the exact same results as you there is only a 1:94 chance that your babu would have downs, it's not 1:94 of all the babies born overall. So your odds are really good and I bet everything will be just fine! :) but as the previous poster said if her daughter, you will love your baby no matter what and your baby will be perfect for you :)
