Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

I think I will go to my doctor to see if she will refer me is he called a fertility specialist? What did you ladies say to your doctors to get referred?

He is a recurrent miscarriage specialist hun. You don't need a fertility specialist as you can get pregnant . Your problem is recurrent miscarriages xx

Hello Ladies,

for those of you who have done cytogenetic karyotype (I think :) ) testing on parents, have you chosen any particular lab? I am soon to start extensive testing for recurrent mc. I had 3 intrauterine losses so far. I know many of you have had more, but I now can only get pregnant through IVF since my tubes have been damaged after two ectopic pregnancies. I have recently sent product of conception from my last mc to Natera labs(in California). I thought they do a pretty good job with maternal contamination, but as far as I understand they dont do chromosome mapping for parents. I live in Oklahoma and have been let down too many times by medical professionals. I want to take charge and decide myself where to do the testing.

BTW, for those of you who have not done testing yet, I have found this: https://www.rialab.com/doctors/index.php
I have a phone consultation scheduled in a few days. They seem to be really good. I will let you know how it goes.

Sorry for the long post.

Best! :hugs:

Kelly :hugs: have you had any recurrent loss tests done? Have your miscarriages all been consecutive or did you have successful pregnancy in between?

Hi eab, I'm sorry for your losses. I had mine and my husbands done privately but we are in the UK so I can't help x

Eab I love in Florida and had karotyping at my regular lab. I can ask my doc (recurrent miscarriage specialist) of he knows of a food doc close to you. he is a great doc with lots of great friends all over the country

Kelly typically after 3 recurrent miscarriages it is an automatic thing. Most docs wait until 3 because they feel it's a pattern at that point and not just spontaneous. If not just tell them you want testing. Hugs and prayers to you hon.

I had a mc at 6 weeks then I had my little boy then got diagnosed with hypo thyroid then had 3 more mc 2nd at 6 weeks 3rd at 8.5 then this one at 7.2 I had most of the tests done at the docs after the 3rd all came back clear this time they said they would test baby too

:hugs: sorry for asking, I was just worried that if you had one or two since your little boy that you would have a fight on your hands. The first thing I would do is ask for a print out of all the results then we can figure out what tests you still need.

I'm also no help. I had my karyotyping done in the UK....but I get all my bloodwork done through LabCorp here in the States and they have been very good (professional and caring) so far.

They gave me a printout but I havent a clue so forgive me if it doesn't make sense.
Ok here's goes
Lh + fsh - satisfactory
Serum testosterone
Serum sex hormone binding glob
Aptt
Cytoplasmic anca screen
Anti nuclear
Anti mitochondrial
Lupus anticoagulant
Anti smooth muscle
Liver mitochondrial
Gastric parental
Cardiolipin igg 10.gpl/ml
Anca
Does this make sense it's very confusing on this sheet

Thanks for the reply. You did it in the UK because you were living there at the time or did you have sent there for whatever reason? THANKS!!

It does Kelly, the first thing I notice is that you've not had a full clotting thrombophilia screen, the aptt will of been looking for how long it takes your blood to clot and they probably would of done the full screen if it had come back abnormal. However you can have clotting disorders that only affect that in pregnancy. So yes you need a full screen for that regardless of the aptt. Thyroid isn't on there either, I think.

Others may spot more x

I was living in the UK at the time. I actually moved to the US right after starting the rmc testing, so I had to call in for my karyotyping results. I started the testing again here after we moved.

So...my doc did a complete 180 when we got to the appointment. It's like the phone conversation we had didn't even happen because everything he said was different, well other than the thickening in my uterus wasn't what he thought it was.

He went from telling me that he wanted me to do intralipids because even though my NK cell levels were closer to normal, they were still elevated and he thought intralipids would help me keep a pregnancy to deciding that I didn't need intralipids because my levels were closer to normal.

Which okay, I can understand why he would say that (we talked about it with him)....but I've been fussing at DH about intralipids since that phone call because he changed his mind about wanting to do them and now I feel like a complete tool. DH was nice enough not to say I told you so at least.

But that does mean I'm kind of back at square one and we don't really have any kind of definitive answer about what has been causing my losses. The NK cells could still be the culprit but the endo that I had removed could be the cause too. Doc said no to steroids because he didn't think I had any other autoimmune things going on and he wasn't sure steroids would help.

I was hoping that we had found the answer to our problem. We're kind of in this weird wait and see place with the FS, where he'll go back to the drawing board if we have another loss, but he's just waiting to see if it will happen again.

DB - make them give you steroids and clexane (lovenox) I would say or get a diff doc if he doesn't know what he's doing. makes me mad with him giving you the run-around

Dbz34 that's not on that he changed his mind at the last minute as like you said you had gone through it with your dh are you happy about him doing this?
Ladies I hope you don't mind me asking but did you go in for d and c with your mc I've got to go in on wed to decide what I want to do I've already had a d and c but I'm worried that was the reason if took me a lot longer to get pregnant this time round I woundered if it was maybe better going for the tablet they give you
