Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

oh wow that must of been really hard for you hunni i shall look out for the signs but i dont think i would have it going by the symptoms you had. x

Babytots I'm lucky in the fact that my Dad is a doctor and also has Graves'. I remember the first incling that there was something wrong was when I had a very light period. I normally have incredibly heavy and painful periods, but this one was just spotting. I had palpitations and thought I was drinking too much Coke, but my Dad took my pulse and said I should go to work with him the following day. I had a resting heart rate of 170 and arhythmia. My other symptoms were: I was shaky and my body was intoleratant to any form of exercise. I began to get itchy hives all over my body, my hair started falling out and I was so hot all the time. I didn't really put them all together as symptoms of something being wrong until I went to hosptial though. It is easily brought under control and although I've relapsed twice it is relatively straight forward to keep under control. Its always good to get your thyroid levels checked if you're worried.

I'm glad we have this thread because it does help with taking control of our own bodies. Thanks hedgewitch. I know i'm going to read up more on Graves to just be familiar with it. I will be doing blood work to rule out thrombophillia. My new dr thinks its an important thing to rule out as it often goes undiagnosed and is connected to multiple losses. I think its hormonal issue connected to a short LP, which was raised today, and that will be pursued after 2 more cycles. They tend to leave out the progesterone testing, which must be repeated throughout the cycle, unless you push for it.

i had the hair loss also but put it down to the shampoo i was using. since i started the PTU it stopped

would my consultant test for it then if i asked? would rather have my thyroids checked to make sure. glad that your able to keep it under control though peach. how fab having your dad as a doc too.

loos like loss no.4 for me as got a bfp on friday and tests since have gotten fainter and now feel like af is going to come at any moment. hopw not as dont have any pads in the house just pantyliners. x

:hugs: Babytots. I have my fingers crossed for you.

If you ask your doctor for a thyroid function test they shoudl be able to do it for you. Wishing you all the best :hugs:

Babytots - I really hope it is a BFP xx Please let us know how you get on. I really want to have a good luck story for us all.

Hey

Just wanted to add my story to this - have had 3 mmc.

I had my first mmc in Jan 08 then 2 months later they removed one of my ovaries due to a tumour.

I got pregnant exactly a year after the first and had my 2nd D&C a year to the day later in Jan - 09, again a mmc. Got BFP again in May 09 and have been having regular scans and taking aspirin this time, saw the heartbeat 3 weeks in a row and then 10 days ago nothing. I knew what was coming - had my 3rd D&C yesterday, am actually feeling ok at the mo but am just waiting for the hormones to start falling!! I got my rmc testing done yesterday so just have to wait 3 months on the results and then take it from there.

At the minute as we all know you have good days and bad days to come but have been advised to not ttc till the test results come back so me and OH are going to have a nice holiday and I'm going to try and make the next few months as stress free as possible.......

Just wanted to add my story as its good to read everyone elses experiences and realise you're not alone xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

AS1 Thank you for sharing and I love you plan to take it easy and keep things stress free I think we need that to keep ourselves strong for this process. I'm sorry you had to endure this, are they or have they done any other testing? :hugs:
Jaccib how are you doing?

Hey BKlove

Thanks - I had routeine tests done with my doc after my 2nd mmc inc thyroid, hormones, blood count etc..... and they all came back clear.
Yesterday that was the genetics testing that you get after rcm. I have a really great consultant as normally I would have to go back in 2 months for the testing but they were able to do it yesterday after my op. I notice you say you can't get progesterone testing? Things are so different in the states as I suppose you have to pay for everything?? Its such an easy thing to test and treat if that is the problem so I would push for that if I were you.

I'm seein you're in NY thats one of the places I plan to be stress free I think!!NYC is my fav place in the world! :happydance:

hello sorry we all have to meet like this. Ile try and share my story breifly without going into TMI.
I m/c twice in the space of 6 months.. my 1st at 9 weeks and my 2nd at 16 weeks. I was offered no tests and was told to wait and if i have 3rd m/c they will then test me.
has anyone else had to wait till they have had 3?
x

Hi Zoe. So sorry for your losses. Unfortunately it is standard practice in the UK to not class you as having recurrent miscarriages until you have mc'd 3 times (2 times if you're over 35). I too have mc'd twice in 6 months. It is so distressing when you've lost a baby and the only question you want answering is "why?" They can't answer that question though, sometimes even with tests they can't answer it. I'm so sorry that you've lost 2 angels and I know how frustrated you must feel about them not testing. If you can afford it you can get the blood tests done privately. Alternatively you can opt for complimentary therapy like acupuncture and creative healing. There are some good books out there too that can help you.

 to you hon. I hope you get some answers in some form soon.

i am heartbroken. many of you will know my story of 17 losses due to graves disease and then a successful pregnancy. well at 34 weeks my baby died yesterday from a true knot and having the umbilical cord around her neck and strangulation. i am so lost and do not know what to do.
i had a scan yesterday am and everything was fine but baby died at about 4.30pm. she had a seizure due to the lack of oxygen. i have been given a tablet to induce labour and sent home till tomorrow, although i so wanted a natural birth they refused and booked me in for a c-section on 6th august but now i am able to have one. it feels so cruel. i am now waiting for labour to start and do not know how i am meant to deliver her knowing she is not alive. are there any of you who have been through this and can help me get my head around this?

Oh hedgewitch I'm so so sorry. What you must be going through... Sending you love and hugs. :hugs:

oh hunni i am so so sorry i am lost for words! all i can say is you will be in my thoughts and i hope that the labour goes quickly for you and you get to spend as much time as you can with your special little angel. life is so so cruel! huge  coming your way.

i'll be thinking of you and your family. x

Hedgewitch, :hugs: :hugs: and more :hugs:. I can't offer any advice, but I can offer a listening ear, so please vent as you need to. I am so sorry and I wish you strength to endure this.

Zoe87- You definitly don't have to sensor your story here and i'm sorry for you losses. I had testing done after the 2nd, but its because the dr was a little nicer about it I guess. But everything did come back normal, which is great, but still sucks because I think its easier to have something wrong so we can fix it, if its fixable. At this point i'm still looking for answers. They do test the hormones/ progesterone, but for some reason you have to request it and push for it. Hopefully i'll be able to get that done soon, I have to wait 1 more cycle after this one.

Hi there - im on MC 3 but in 8 years and doc is sending me off for testing. Got first round of appointments in August, he was really considerate and just asked "how much do you want a baby" and then typed the referral, seems to be the good old postcode lottery sometimes.

Oh Hedgewitch I don't know what to say. I am so so sorry for your loss. I'm not sure what advice I can give you but know that everyone on here will be here for you. There is a forum for stillbirths, neo-natal loss and sids where some ladies on there may be able to help you further xx Thinking of you

Zoe - it all depends on where you live. In my area they offer tests after 2 mcs, although I have had 3 and all tests came back as fine... so sometimes you don't get the answer you want. Sorry for your losses x

I have now been referred to IVF...but, my OB/GYN cautioned me as I have recurrent m/c. I wish I could afford surrogacy!

Every hospital iv been in its 3 m/cs before testing, every specialist iv spoken to said they take 2 m/cs as normal.. as they say a woman can suffer two before a healthy one. i suppose if they tested everyone at 2 nobody would get seen half the time.. i refused to be seen untill 4 because i wouldnt accept it. alot of dr's are the same. some are quite rude...
