Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Hi ladies. I've not been on here for ages but really need some advice if anyone has anything to offer.

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks back in March (conceived naturally first cycle trying for our 2nd. Had 9 miscarriages before 1st baby). We didn't conceive after the miscarriage until June and that was a chemical. Followed by another in July, another in august, another in September and another one in October (just waiting for af now). So that's a whopping 5 chemicals in a row. I don't know what to do to be honest. Most of my previous losses at least made it past 6 weeks so what the hell can be causing this? Any ideas what I can do? I'm already seeing shehata and taking all what Petitpas said above, plus hydroxychloriquine.

Does ANYONE have ANY ideas as to what the hell I should do next? I'm easy to sell to. I'd eat a dog poo if someone convinced me that would work.

Lambs. I've had a few chemicals too since being on the anti malaria tablets. Do you have Intralipids? I don't have any other suggestions really, I'm crestfallen and don't believe anything can be done for me now x

I'm very sorry for all your chemicals and losses :hugs:

Thanks Tasha - I'm sorry you're still struggling too.

I've only had the last 2 chemicals whilst on hydroxychloriquine. The first I'd only been on it for about 3 weeks but this current one I've been on it 6+ weeks so it should be "working". I think I'm going to try acupuncture again - can't hurt right?

And I do have intralipids but not until 4 weeks and the last 5 cycles I've known by 4 weeks not to waste my money.

Ive answered you in your journal hun xx

Lamburai, I follow another lady who was a bit similar, 3 chemicals in 3 months so the fourth month she took vit b6 & used a progesterone cream & she's now expecting her rainbow in the next few weeks.
good luck and sorry to hear of all the losses you've had to endure :hugs:

So I'm 2 weeks out of my most recent MC. The baby was a boy and he had Trisomy 15. I have a DS and have had 5 chemicals. This time I was on prednisone and had a confirmed heart beat but miscarried at 8 weeks.

I see my RE in a couple weeks but my head is swimming with questions about T15. I really haven't heard much about it before. Is it immune related? What are the odds of it happening again?

Trisomy 15 isn't immune related its a gene thing (can't think of the word)

I'm not too familiar with the trisomies, I known what they are a bit. Is T15 Edwards or turners syndrome? Incompatible with life possibly, I honestly don't know enough about it to advise

Xx

Milty, my sister had a T15 pregnancy earlier this year (it was her first pregnancy). She was assured it was a random occurance and highly unlikely to happen again.

Milty I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs: my last miscarriage was due to trisomy 15 as well (girl for me). It is a fatal defect creating an extension on chromosome 15. From my research, I gather it is usually down to chance unless you carry a rare genetic translocation yourself. Usually conceptions resulting in any trisomy are lost very early on resulting in failure to implant, chemicals and early miscarriages. Most trisomies are fatal/not compatible with life, with some exceptions, such as Down's syndrome (Trisomy21) or if they are only affecting a percentage of the chromosomes (mosaicism)

I have googled extensively to find a name for T15 but as it is so rare to survive past the first tri, never mind to term, there really isn't one.

For me I found some closure in the diagnosis of trisomy 15. It made me realise there is nothing I could've done and no drugs I could've taken that would have saved my baby. While for me it doesn't explain all my previous losses, it does give me a clue that perhaps my issue is egg quality (I'm 37 and have had low risk chemo in 2009) or sperm quality or both or even just very very bad luck.

I am awaiting the outcome of genetic karyotyping for both myself and my husband and I've also had all of the recurrent miscarriage testing done just to see if I have any underlying issues as well. I would imagine you will follow a similar path after your appt. xx

Ah I see the girls have responded anyway

Have you had a karotyping test?

Xx

Not yet. I go in to meet with that doc and give blood in about 3 weeks.

I know I have high cytotoxic activity which can effect egg quality. So I was just thinking maybe T15 was a result of that.

Thank you guys for your responses I appreciate it.

Dan-o :hugs: I hate that we always find ourselves in a similar place.

Thanks, ladies. I wonder why 20-25 is the standard in the UK, but in CZ they only putt me on 5mg Prednisone... I'll have to ask my doctor on Tuesday when I talk to her about my bloodwork.

AF finally arrived today- early, early in the morning. I go in on Tuesday to see if my hCG is low enough to go into the next FET cycle. I really hope it is.

Good luck buny, hoping you don't have to wait for your transfer cycle :hugs:

Milty is that cytotoxicity from some medication you are taking/have taken? The low risk chemo I received in 2009 was cytotoxic, but I was assured that it would clear from my system in 3-6 months. I have had my two rainbows since, so i've obviously popped two healthy eggs in 5 years, but loads and loads of miscarriages, all probably genetic looking back on it.. also my FSH shot up after the chemo despite only being 32 at the time. Food for thought. Have you looked into supplements?

It's actually caused from my endo. It causes early losses and can cause egg problems. The supplements I take are: Folic Acid, Fish Oil, B Complex, Vit D, CO Q 10, black Cohosh, and baby aspirin.

Milty, have you heard of the endo diet? I follow one lady on here who tried it after years of infertility and she is now close to giving birth.
Or could you have another lap to clear out any problematic areas? I only have mild endo but I went for a laparoscopy just before starting to ttc.

Oh yes it's actually really good. I've been on it for over a year. It's helped me with other unrelated this as well. I highly recommend it to anyone even if they do not have endo.

I may push to have another lap even though it's only been a year since my last one. Sadly I have very sever endo stage 4. The good thing it is mostly on my non reproductive organs in my lower abdomen. Other than my one ovary and tube I've had removed.

Inspite of it I can get pg without to much trouble. I just can't stay pregnant.
