Reflux Help & Support Thread

Glad Nim has been a bit better. We only go two hours in the night or so too. I get do tired of people telling me how he should be sleeping through, how he must go longer between feeds or how I must not re-feed him if he spits up. :growlmad:
My BF thinks it's crazy I have his cot attached to our bed like a cosleeper so I can check on him every time I hear him spill or gag in the night. I should put him in another room apparently!

Do any of you find it tricky to keep LO awake much. Stewart will tolerate up to maximum 10 minutes awake time after eating before he gets overtired and starts thrashing about and crying which mostly makes him spit up everything. Seems like he spends his life in bed but I guess I would too if I had constant heartburn. :nope:

Was anyone told to use aptamil comfort for silent reflux?

I really am thinking of changing my Daughter back to the 1st milk ~ As I think it may just be the ranintidine helping her?

Oh dear - having a bad day! LO has vomited so much today. Seem to have a few good days and then a bad few. Bless him - he is being so good. Does anyone find that LO sneezes a lot on a bad reflux day? xx

^^ yup sneezes, coughs, gags and hiccups!

Yup, constant coughing and sneezing on a bad day.

2016,we get that too, constant questions about how she goes through the night etc. She's not awake 1/2 as much as other babies her age during the day either or as 'developed' but I figure time will allow her to catch up.
As my m/w says, she's got special and different circumstances, she'll do stuff at her own rate and I should stop worrying and reading book that tell me 9 week old babies should do 'X, Y and Z'.

anyone try probiotics.... new studies say they work great for reflux babies. pm me for more info

I can't do this anymore.

Macy has screamed for almost 10 hours solid and projectile vomited every feed. The only time she stopped was when my OH walked her in the pram for 30mins but it's like gailforce winds and torrential rain outside. Every single part of my body hurts (especially my head).

I feel like I'm losing it. My PND is at an all time low. I've had to put her down and leave the room a few times just to get myself together.

I'm arguing with my OH constantly, I want to move back home closer to my sister and Mum so they can help out (we're in a village about 30miles away and I don't drive) but my OH wants to stay where we are cos he wants to be near to his friends and his local pubs. He says I can go but he won't come with me. We have a million other problems that I won't go in to. I think I'm going to look for a house tomorrow and look into if I can afford it - I'm only on SMP now and will only be going back to work part time
xx

You poor things :hugs::hugs::hugs: I can only imagine what you must be feeling like

There really is nothing worse than seeing your LO in pain & not being able to help

I really hope that someone, somewhere can help you & your baby :baby::hugs:

I'm the same today I'm afraid:( LO is not really much better even with the Losec and Ranitidine! I think we will have to do the endoscopy, and to be honest I am going to push for it. I want to know what is going on inside her, and I don't want people to just assume!! I can not see her in pain like that. She wakes up screaming in the night, she screams everytime she changes position in her sleep, it is just not right

Sorry about the rant, had a really bad night. . . Hope everyone is coping well.

try probiotics for infants... pleaaaase try it. you'll be amazed

Stardust :hugs: def push for a scan hon, projectilling after every feed is not right at all. Poor you :hugs:
Happyface :hugs: hope they do the endoscopy for you asap :hugs:

Glad I found this thread. Arianna has reflux, it doesn't bother her sleeping, but it does cause her to spit up sour smelling sick all day long, shes on ranintidine which sort of helps, but we have started using a product with carob bean extract to thicken her milk and it has helped loads. She still has her days, but at least she isn't spitting up all day long.

Will look into the probiotics - can you use then if the bub has milk allergies?

Research seems to show that probiotics helped babies with milk allergies as it calmed the inflamatjon of the gut.

Babyjjva posted a link in another thread to an interview focusing on reflux and cows milk protein allergy. Its a long read but worth the read. I would paste the link but I'm on my phone.

hi could you tell me where to get them? iv'e found some drops online called biogaia? but they seem exp but if they work? please help:cry: gp has given lo gavisgon just not sure if its the way to go? xxxxx:shrug:

happyface, i hope things get better soon, it's so tough. i also hope the endoscopy gives the answer you need too.

farie, yes, i will do, we're back at the paediatrician on wednesday, i'm going to ask him for the scan but he says she's fine as she gaining weight. it's not right though, she doesn't want to eat, screams after her feed, projectile vomits, falls asleep exhausted then wakes up screaming and howling 10mins later. this goes on all day. she's also on lactulose and is still constipated so there must be something going on!! i'm actually hoping that wednesday is a really bad day so he can see what she's like.

where can i buy these probiotics - i'll try ANYTHING

i have bought a moby wrap thing to carry her about all day so she can get some sleep. going to get colic calm as well. and i have upped the omeprazole back to 10mg from today and it has definately helped. the paediatrician only wants her on 5mg but it doesn't even touch the pain. i would have her on 15mg if i had my own way to totally eliminate the pain but they won't prescribe enough for me.

also been giving solids per paediatricians advice last time, i give her a couple of spoonfuls before bottle and so far it's working to keep the bottle down. i have to be very careful though as if it's something she doesn't like (banana i've recently found) she gags and vomits up everything xx

I tried the biogaia probiotics with Freya when she was at her worst. They didn't help her but I can see why they would in lots of cases. It can take up to a month to see results ( he research on the website was over a 4 week period I think). I bought them from the online pharmacy PCP direct.
Xxx

Hi girls! How is everyone doing? I am sorry I haven't been around too mich but we've had a few difficult days and nights! Katerina has started refusing her milk!! SHe is better with solids but she still has 3 bottles of milk per day. The last few days its been a struggle and she only has 2 at the most. Especially in the evening she is screaming and won't have it.

I have managed to change the appointment with the doc today instead of next week as they had a cancellation :happydance:

Fingers crossed he will agree and manage to do the enodscopy soon as she doesn't sleep unless we give her calpol but obviously I can't give her that every night!!!

Hope everyone is doing ok! :hugs:
