My LO has been much better since I started on the elimination diet, but he still suffers occasional bouts of painful reflux, so I may consider trying the probiotics in a few weeks if he is still not improving. Have you been taking them and BFing LO or giving straight to LO?

Just got back from the Dr and my little guy has reflux. Been thinking it was colic forever but guess everyone was wrong. She gave me Zantec hope it helps and had me switch his formula to Alimentum so expensive but worth it if it helps.

puppymom. so sorry :( read the article i posted, it's all about the colic myth

zantac didn't work for us. i cut out soy dairy and wheat and saw a huge improvement and since giving her probiotics she's been cured. her poo is no longer runny either.

i express milk and mix it with the probiotics. i have this little squirter thing that i put it in, like a syringe and when she's nursing i sneak it in the side. she doesn't even notice.

Oh puppymom I'm sorry you had to join this thread! :( I hope Xavier doesn't get it bad!! :)

We went to the doctor and he told us to stop giving ranitidine and instead give Domperidone along with the losec and he changed the milk from Nutramigen to Neocate. I really hope this helps. We are going back in a month.

How is everyone else?

oh sorry about the link

happy- what's the difference in milks?

I am not sure about the milk. It says that Neocate is amino-acid based. Doctor said its even more hydrolised.

Kelly I am about to try cranial osteopathy. A friend of mine recommended it! I will book an appointment tomorrow for asap so will let you know how it goes. Apparently it can be very helpful!!

Has anyone tried cranial osteopathy?

we were just about to do this. had an appt. even, then she got better

Well, I swear by accupuncture & 'cupping'...

So im all for these types of therapies, but I would love to know how your LO's get on with it :flower:

My LO has reflux, and the Doctor doesn't seemed to worried about it. He spits up if I lye him flat on his back, or if I put him down too fast -- burping him seems to help a lot, though, and I've been putting him to sleep on an angle now. I also try to hold him upright for 20-30 minutes after each feed.

My Husband and I do not want to turn to medications yet, and I'd like to try eliminating things from my diet to see if that helps, but I'm not sure what I should be eliminating? I stopped drinking milk, because I noticed he started spitting up and fussing a lot when I was having a few cups a day.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dairy, citrus fruits, basically anything that you can think of that can give you heartburn x

For me it was simple (it was dairy)

Kellymom has a great info chart

Hopefully it can help reduce some of your LO's reflux :) Mine didn't go away but at least it helped a little!

I haven't posted here before because DD's reflux is well under control with drugs, which we have been slowly reducing in the hopes of getting her off of them!

But the last two nights we've given DD nurofen to help her sleep - she's getting three of her top teeth in, and it's waking her a lot at night. Today she's brought up two bottles - her morning bottle she brought 1/2 of it up right away, and this afternoon she had a bottle before her nap, and was sick right after she got up. She hasn't puked in *months* so very suspicious of the nurofen. I know in adults it can cause stomach problems, so I usually avoid it. It helped her sleep the first night, but I'd rather get up and calpol her every 4 hours at night (she's ok during the day) than have the reflux come back!

So anyone else had problems with nurofen and reflux?

Hey! I think Nurofen is not recommended for babies with reflux as it can upset the digestive system. Maybe best to stick to calpol.

Yeah, I went to two local chemists and they both said skip it. Which is a shame, because the first night on it we actually got a proper night's sleep! Last night I got up at 11, 2:30 and 6. Please teeth, would you just push thorugh and stop causing us all grief!!

She barely drank anything yesterday, but this morning she got up and was obviously famished - guzzled 4 oz of milk (usually she doesn't finish it, which is why it's only 4oz) and then ate her breakfast at lightening speed. Both stayed down. Small victories I guess. Trying to ignore the fact I'm exhausted - Daddy's turn to get up tonight!

Not sure if anyone has had this happen before or not. Xavier has always thrown up and projectiled alot but he never used to cry he was always crying with belly issues and constipation not with throw up. Every since I started him on the Zantac and switched his formula to Alimentum he screams crying when he throws up and makes this horrible chocking sound. I am assuming it is because the formula is thicker. But curious if the Zantac could cause this. Belly issues are all cleared up already but just hate watching him choke.

Hi we are still suffering - the colocynthis has helped the Colic and also I have bought some Chamomille granules which instantly help and knock him out !

BUT the reflux is still here not with a vengenance but still causing him intermittment pain - now he is being fully formula fed on Comfort.

The NUK teets are a nightmare the wide neck teets he sucks so hard they collapse and he does bout 1oz in an hour !. The standard neck teets are ok. They are both stage 2 teets (6-12 months).

I really dont know what to try next. He is up every 2 hours doing approx 2oz per feed but I want to do him more.

So advice please...... should I try hungry milk..... HV didnt advise me not to? Its not going to be a permanent thing just one bottle per night to at least get some sleep.

Anyone here have an older baby, dealing with solids? I'm really worried at the moment about DD getting enough to eat and drink. She's 10 months, only taking up to 4oz per bottle (usually takes 6-7) and throwing up once a day at the moment. We'd been doing so well, I'm really upset about this setback and don't really know how to deal with it now, as when we previously had problems she was only 3 months. DD threw up her lunch about an hour later, and is only eating about 1/2 her meals anyway...
