Hi All,

Is anyone sending out save the date cards and then sending out wedding invitations nearer to the time? I never knew about save the date cards until we recently received one!

Can anyone recommend anywhere to buy them from?

xx

Me and the Oh got ours on ebay, but had them as fridge magnets so people wouldnt just put them in a drawer and forget about them!

We did one nice looking ones for family and then some silly ones that had a pic of us on a rollercoaster for friends!

The 'nice' ones were like this...
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/50-Wedding-S...hing?hash=item334bf51507&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

we sent them out somewhere between 9months to a year before the big day, cant remember exactly when but we had the venue booked and the registrar booked and paid for.

Our big day is at the end of the month and we sent out the invites at the end of August.

We also sent out Save the Date fridge magnets. We got them from Vista Print and used one of their design templates which has a red heart on it and then added our own text giving a few details on it (date, venue etc) and added details to follow on the bottom. We then used hearts as our theme when we made our own invitations too.

The magnets were really inexpensive (I think we paid about £15 for 200) and everyone said how good they thought they were as they could stick them on their fridge rather than a paper card which they would file along with all their other letters and most probably lose. It was also nice when we visited friends and family and saw them stuck on their fridge doors :)

I made our save the date cards - people really liked the fact we'd done them ourselves & everyone commented on them.

I done them slightly bigger than business card size, cream card with printed writing (did want gold but it didn't show so used a nice coral green) then punched 3 heart design in the corner (punch from craft shop) put a small amout of gold card on the back where the hearts were and then laminated. Bought strip of magnets and stick them on!!

Look lovely!!

Funny things is the colour theme is now the green which was used on the save the date - spooky!!!

Thank you for your replies. I have seen the fridge magnets and think they are a fab idea, I never thought of checking out ebay. I will also look at Vista Print

LilBabyBoo - Your cards sound lovely, I wish I was more creative. I am useless and always think my work is always rubbish. I might experiment and see what I think!

I'm not creative either - i just had a go and they looked fab

Its worth a try - save yourself some ££

I got mine on ebay too from a shop called personal touch, 20 for £6 in the fridge magnet style which isnt too bad, obviously they get cheaper the more you buy, love them!!

We used Truprint to do photo ones which where really cheap and seemed to be popular. In the end we used a photo of us holding hands showing my engagement ring, it was taken just after he proposed. There are lots of designs and you can use any photo you like.

I ordered them from ebay, still waiting for them to arrive which could take ages with the postal strikes. Fingers crossed they are good!

We used Vistaprint too. Got 250 'free' business cards and all we had to pay for was the postage. We then stuck magnets on the back of them. They cost less than £4.00 for 250!! Keep an eye out for their special offers. We are going to use them for the thank you cards too. We will make a postcard with one of our wedding photos on the front and then use the back to write our thank you message. We can get 100 of these for the same price, just paying the postage.

I actually design wedding invitations and save the dates - and can do so completely online! I can give lots of advice and help if you'd like :)

We used bride and groom direct and had fridge magnets they were a bit pricey but the customer service was really good.
