Sept, Oct & Nov 2011 Mummies and Babies

Hi Ladies and Babies :hi: Hope you are all well!

Regarding diets- I am on the Slimming World diet. I used to do it before I got pregnant, and really enjoyed it. You dont feel deprived at all, and its really healthy. Apparently, you should only lose 1 pound a week if you are breastfeeding, and I am losing an average of 1.5lbs a week. So its going well. Good luck to all those who are starting diets this week!

Regarding babywearing - I have the BabyBjorn, and have been using it since birth - both around the house, and outdoors. When we are outdoors, I wear a coat over the top of the sling, but I do not do the coat up, I have it undone. And Freya wears a snowsuit, hat, and mittens. However, Freya is now 13lbs, and is getting too heavy for me to wear on my front. I think I need to get a back carrier....

Hope you are all having a good weekend :)

xx

Aww go Skye. Alana just has porridge twice a day, she grabs her own spoon and keeps trying to get it in her mouth. So far the spoon has been in her eye, nose, hair but not her mouth.

LOL Jen, I can imagin what state she gets into! Once we get our highchair I will lwt Skye loose with the spoon!

Shelleney, What can you have extra if your breastfeeding whilst doing slimming world? I joined a week before I found out I was pregnant so have all the book and stuff.. x

Awww... I'm jealous of all this food talk. I want to feed my girls cereal and work towards solids but a tthe same time I remember how excited I was with DD1 and then regretted it since it become a huge chore. I know the girls would love variety and would possibly be more satisfied but I just can't bring myself to doing it. I did buy rice, oat and barley cereal packs the other day but that's as far as it got. No spoons or bowls and no unpacking of the booster chairs.

Hi everyone! Just stumbled across this thread. I was wondering where the fall babies of 2011 group was. My little boy, Jack was born Sept 23rd, 3 days before his due date and much to the surprise of it all because as my first baby, he hadn't dropped at all so the midwife assured me I'd go overdue. Boy was she wrong! He was 7 lbs 3.5 oz and born after 19.5 hrs of labour!

Hi Maggs welcome aboard. Hope you and jack are doing well.

last night Alana decided to wake up at midnight and was awake until 2.30am, why oh why. Having said hat whether slept until 6.40am fed and the went back down until 8am.

Hi Maggs!

Hippy, Ella enjoys a midnight party session too! So exhausting.

How did everyone's four month shots go? Ella has hers tonight and I just hate watching how upset she gets from the needles. Ugh.

Katie - my girls both had zero reaction other than a wee bit of crying for a minute. Good luck!

I'm getting frustrated with Libby these days. She gets upset (understandably) before feeding time since she's hungry.. okay fine.. but then after feeding her she is super super upset. Crying, arching herself back and forth screaming until the veins in her head are throbbing. What happened to happy fed baby time? No fair!!! She'll eventually calm down but it's torture while I feed Ashley and watch/listen to her go through this. Once feeding Ashley I'll pick up Libby and after 5 minutes or so she'll calm. It's getting annoying.

Welcome Maggs!

His 4 month shots were worse than his 2 months. He was upset for a lot longer and had a fever afterwards. Poor guys. He gets his 6 month shots in 3 weeks and I am dreading it!!

Anyone's babies sitting on there own yet? I know William is a bit older than some of the babies on here, but in the past week he has gotten really good at sitting by himself. He is still a bit wobbly though.

Littlestars it sounds like reflux, Alana arches her back and then screams in pain. I would get it checked out.

Ugh Jack is a nightmare at nights lately. Been through the 4 month sleep regression and got an amber teething anklet and it's still not improved. Last night he was done around 8:30pm, woke a couple of times to be settled before 10. Then was awake at 11:15 ( I settled him), 1am (hubby settled him) and up at 5 to eat then up for the day at 7:30am. Shattered!! He used to do 8/830pm-8am with a feed around 4/5am and that was it.

Welcome Maggs!

Well I thought Lauren was constipated and was crying from it the last week or so. She stiffens and cries in pain. We gave her prune juice and she had a BM, but it was entirely liquid. We were supposed to have our 4 month check last Thursday and then yesterday, but the ped keeps getting sick. Lauren has gotten out of her shots for now ha ha! Anyway, the crying was terrible. She would do it and then be fine the next minute and then it would start all over. We took her to a different ped yesterday because I couldn't stand to see her cry in pain anymore and I didn't want to wait for our appointment. The ped checked her out and said her bowels were fine and was certain she has reflux. She gave us an prescription for Zantac. She has always spit up a ton, so it's possible, I was certain it had to do with her not going to the bathroom though. So I guess I will see what my regular ped has to say tomorrow. If it really is reflux, I would rather not put her on medication. I think I will ask about just starting solids and see how that goes. Anyone else try zantac?

Never thought about reflux. Started thinking perhaps she was developing lactose intolerance. Other than a prescription is there anything else I can do for reflux? The girls don't go in to see the pediatrician until March 19th which is nearly 3 weeks!

Acorn- I have tried Zantac, didn't work...we are on med #3. Its getting better, but not sure if thats just with age now....I also want to try the oatmeal for his reflux. We did at 4 months and he didn't like it so I didn't force it. Tried again now at 5 months yesterday so we will see...he isn't too thrilled I dont think.

Ive only heard that reflux will get better naturally with age, and with solids. Otherwise i've also heard try to feed them smaller amounts/ keep them upright/ sleep with an angled wedge under the mattress....none of this worked for us though. But its common advice.

We haven't tried Zantac but baby gaviscon worked for the reflux but caused terrible constipation. Alana has been referred to the hospital but we can't get to see the specialist until April.

i stopped all medication apart from colic calm heomeopathic treatment when she is really bad.

I started her on baby porridge as it helps the acid causing milk to come back up. She has responded well to it, we have less back arching and crying. I can't eat dairy as Alana is allergic, although I am tempted to try lactose free milk to see if she still reacts when I drink that. I have to say that I think lots of babies have reflux and it goes undiagnosed as it is put down to normal spit up. BF babies tend to take longer to show pain symptoms as breatsmilk isn't as harsh as formula. Usually though reflux gets better as they are weaned.

I hope all your babies feel better soon.

Alana has a cold and so has managed to get out of her injections, I am sure if she was aware of this she would be grateful to be unwell.

hiya ladies and welcome Maggs :hugs:
